  1. They’re already done. 6 games behind two different teams, not happening.
  2. This is an old article. DeJong has a 761 OPS with the Royals, which is better than his 705 OPS with the Sox, but not by much. If he was the second best trade deadline move in mlb then there were very few impact players traded at the deadline this year.
  3. By “everyone” you mean just Kopech right? Orioles fans are ready to launch Eloy into the sun, Fedde has been worse, and Pham was already let go by the Cardinals.
  4. Sure. I’d take Hagen Smith and Edgar Quero over anyone in the Orioles system after Basallo once the other two graduate. You wouldn’t? Everyone raves about Dylan Beavers. Dude is hitting .239 in AA as a 23 year old. Povich is their #5 prospect? Seriously? He sucks.
  5. I didn’t say it was special but I would rank it over the Orioles system once Holliday and Mayo lose prospect status. Have you looked at the Orioles top prospects recently? Without those two, it’s very rough after Basallo.
  6. What’s so special about the Orioles farm system after Holliday and Mayo graduate? Their #2 prospect will likely be Enrique Bradfield. Nothing exciting about their system after those two graduate and Elias has not done a good job of supplementing their system the last couple years, They’re in trouble if they don’t win it the next 3-4 years.
  7. Couldn’t you do this for most teams though? For example, just looking at the Guardians, whom they rank #4 overall... Their #2 prospect has nearly an identical OPS as Montgomery this season but he’s played at AA or lower all season and plays OF. Their #3 and #5 prospects are 1b, one is already 24 years old. Then, a system like the Orioles that everyone raves about. They won’t even be a top 10 system when Mayo and Holliday graduate from prospect status this year. In reality, the #1 farm system and the #11 farm system aren’t drastically different. If the Sox had traded Crochet and Robert last month I believe they’d be #1. Yes, the MLB team would take a little hit (not really with the way Robert is playing) but that’s the type of fairly slim margin between those top 10 farm systems.
  8. 18 hits and 12 runs last night without their “best” hitter in the lineup. Panther can sit a few more games for all I care.
  9. I have no idea if this is sustainable but if they continue playing like this for the next 6 weeks it sure makes you wonder how last and this season might have been different without Pedro. Sure, they still would have been a bad team but perhaps nowhere near historically bad as they’ve been.
  10. He’s 1-2 now right? And with a positive run differential to boot ha
  11. Baldwin has sneaky power. Could easily be a 15-20 homer per year kind of guy. Of all the rookie position players they’ve played this season he’s been the most impressive imo.
  12. Lopez and Robert nearly identical wRC+ for the season now
  13. If the Sox pick up both options, they owe Robert $55M between 2025-2027. I’d set the over/under at 7 WAR for those 3 seasons combined and certainly wouldn’t be surprised to see him come under. If Rios was a significant overpay at $37.2M (probably roughly equivalent to $55M in today’s dollars) to produce 7 WAR what is Robert’s value if he doesn’t at least produce 7 WAR over the next 3 seasons?
  14. And Rios was a 2 time all star when the Sox acquired him. He was coming off a 4 WAR season the season before the Sox traded him to the Rangers. The Sox will be very lucky if Robert produces a 4 WAR season in 2025 or 2026.
  15. https://x.com/JayCuda/status/1822458991261147397 Forget a haul in a trade return, will another team even take him as a pure salary dump at this point?
  16. Not trading Robert and Crochet at the deadline was unforgivable imo. I knew this season was going to be a s%*# show and I don’t think there’s much Getz could have done to avoid it but when they were blessed with a dominant first half from Crochet they needed to take advantage of it and they did not. By holding on to these two guys they’re simply extending the time it takes for this team to return to competitiveness. Very dumb.
  17. The only question now is will Benintendi finish the season with a higher OPS than Robert??
  18. Vargas has a nice arm from third. Is it the glove that gives him poor defensive ratings?
  19. And it’s not even close. But let’s sit here and hold on to them because surely their value will increase just like it did with guys like Moncada and Cease.
  20. Boy, it must suck for Robert knowing that Nicky Lopez is 10x more dangerous at the plate than him right now
  21. They should have traded both Robert and Crochet. Take what you can get. When have we seen a Sox player’s trade value actually increase the closer they get to free agency over the last 5 years? Eloy, Kopech, Giolito, Lynn, Cease, moncada, etc. the value of all these guys diminished the longer they held onto them.
  22. Absolutely should have traded him. Not trading him was egregious. I don’t care if you take a “lesser” return because a lesser return could still be a lot better than the return this offseason plus you risk injury. Dumb.
  23. While I don’t expect the Sox to spend a ton of money this winter, I’ve been saying for awhile that I think they make Anthony Santander their #1 offseason target. Just seems like the typical Sox target so I wouldn’t pencil in guys like Fletcher and Colas into the OF just yet.
