  1. How many people predicted Foster would be our most reliable high leverage reliever in 2020?
  2. I was about to say that I bet Quintana is much more likely than Stroman or Bauer. Giolito, Keuchel, Cease, Dunning, Quintana Colome is a free agent and who knows if Bummer is dealing with a long term injury at this point so they definitely need help in the back end of the bullpen.
  3. Earlier this week people were concerned about the Tigers possibly catching the Sox ?
  4. He’s had a couple bad errors that I’m sure he will clean up but I’m really impressed with how quickly he gets rid of the ball. It stands out especially when he turns double plays. His quick release makes up for his lack of arm strength.
  5. They could make serious noise with one more strong starter to go with Giolito and Keuchel.
  6. I like Dunning but this team is still one starter short, at least, this season. Ryu would have been the perfect pickup teamed with Keuchel as the two lefties in the rotation.
  7. That at-bat showcased how smart that kid is. Shows bunt twice to bring the infielders up and then he’s able to get decent contact on a tough pitch during a hit and run. He’s so dangerous in a different way than anyone is used to because he has no fear of hitting with two strikes and uses the entire field. A real throw back. I’ve been a huge fan since they drafted him because even if his stats don’t show up gaudy in WAR etc he’s the type of player that knows how to do the little things to win. As cliche as that sounds.
  8. How do you adjust? He hits the ball all over the field. Maybe play the outfielders shallower but that’s about it.
  9. I remember when people said he would never hit .300 in MLB
  10. Is everyone still worried the Tigers are going to pass the Sox for the last playoff spot?
  11. Yea. Texas blew it. His value will never be higher. Glad Sox didn’t trade for him.
  12. It isn’t a question of McCann vs Grandal (this year at least). It’s a question of McCann/Grandal vs EE.
  13. At least ChiSox59 has been consistent in his opinion of McCann and Grandal. He’s been dreaming about Grandal for two years.
  14. That’s the problem. I think most of his supporters like him because of his fWAR and not because they’ve watched him play much in the past. Also why I’ve argued that his value is severely overrated by fWAR. The Dodgers aren’t dumb. Think they’d let a true 5 WAR player walk for the money Grandal got? It’s a rhetorical question.
  15. Grandal’s OPS is down much more than that from last season.
  16. A ~.800 OPS in August/September shouldn’t be discounted. That’s solid for a starting catcher late in the regular season. In summary, he had a bad July.
  17. Despite his solid wRC+ it’s disingenuous to say his hitting is only down a little. His OPS of .732 is well below what he did last season and also quite a bit lower than his career .792 OPS. His BABIP is actually higher than his career average and strikeout rate is way up. So he hasn’t been unlucky to this point. If anything he’s been lucky to hold his current OPS. Also, not sure how his fWAR is holding up because his framing has been ordinary this season. It’s ok to admit he’s been a disappointment so far this season. I hope he turns it on soon in this weird season because historically he has performed poorly late in the regular season and terribly in the postseason.
  18. Yep. Exactly where I’ve been on this topic since last winter.
