  1. At least the Mazara and Edwin acquisitions were low risk, short duration, and aren’t blocking anyone (Engel really isn’t an everyday RF). With the Grandal signing, the Sox decided he’s their starting catcher for the next 4 years while booting last year’s all star McCann in the process.
  2. SSS but off to a very ominous start to his Sox career. 281 slugging percentage thru 71 PA ?
  3. Well, you won’t be waiting long. Because they’ll be there in less than two months.
  4. Colome takes a lot of heat around here because he’s not a big strikeout guy but he gets the job done. Hasn’t given up a run yet this season and has a high save percentage and low ERA since joining the Sox. You’d think he was Craig Kimbrel or something based on board comments.
  5. 100%. He’s been the Sox second best hitter behind TA this year.
  6. I guess paying $70M+ for a player that you can’t play in the playoffs (two years in a row with the Dodgers) was a red flag to me.
  7. Assuming you’ll get two quality starters out of Kopech, Lopez, Dunning, and Rodon is a big assumption at this point. Also, you can never have enough pitching. Would be nice to be 6/7 deep for once and if they really are that deep they can always move depth for a RF or whatever else is needed.
  8. And with this mindset you’re paying for past production...
  9. They absolutely should spend for another starting pitcher this winter (tier 2 type like Keuchel). I just hope Grandal’s money doesn’t restrict them from doing that.
  10. My position was that McCann would be the better investment moving forward (production per $ spent). Rather than signing Grandal, I wanted McCann extended another 2-3 years and to use the savings for pitching help. Need pitching to win in the playoffs.
  11. Well considering McCann > Grandal this year and the Sox could have allocated Grandal’s $$$ for desperately needed starting pitching help, I’m not sure why you’re laughing.
  12. People laughed when I said signing Grandal was a misuse of resources when we were already set at catcher this year with McCann.
  13. And even with a vaccine, there are doubts it will be 100% effective. It’s effectiveness will likely be similar to the flu shot from what I’ve read recently. We’re going to have to learn to live with this for the rest of our lives most likely.
  14. Better them than us https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.com/news/amp/world-europe-53735718
  15. Agree. I don’t see any of those 3 teams making noise this season. If the Sox can’t beat them out, they don’t deserve to be in the playoffs.
  16. If the season ended today, there’d be 4 playoff teams from the AL Central. Wild.
  17. No kidding right. If what they’re saying is true, this virus will have an enormous societal impact for years to come. We’re going to see elevated levels of unemployment for years, business closures in mass, and a major shift in how we form households (many more stay at home parents). We will also see a lot more home schooling and, if remote learning is retained for an extended period, a major overhaul of the public school system.
  18. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theatlantic.com/amp/article/614860/ worth a read. Sounds like we better get used to living with this virus for awhile...
