  1. With a better bullpen, the Sox are going for the 5th win in a row. I’ve been told that’s the easiest thing to fix in an offseason so that’s gotta be encouraging no? This starting rotation is legit good right now after the promotions of Cannon and Thorpe. Without a trade, there’s no room for Clevinger even unless they want to demote Flexen who’s been pitching fairly well recently also.
  2. The thing is it isn’t a fluke either. Peripherals look good and has passed the eye test from the beginning of the season. Apparently he found something in KBO last year. Good for him. Going to earn himself a big payday on another 16 months.
  3. Great outing. Fedde ERA down to 2.99 as we head into the all star break. He’s legitimately been one of the best pitchers in the AL. Who had that on their bingo card before the season started?
  4. In his final start before the ASB, would be a nice bump to Fedde’s trade value if he can go 5+ innings with 2 or fewer runs against a scorching hot Twins offense <paging Mike Elias>
  5. I would think so but it appears he’ll be up again in less than a month after the TDL passes..
  6. Sox will have no trouble finding trade partners for Fedde and Crochet even if the Yankees and Orioles aren’t in play again
  7. I’m very concerned about his K rate. To see it jump the way it has this season is alarming. That type of K rate with just a 106 wRC+ isn’t good enough for a bat first guy. I’d probably still take him as the centerpiece in a Fedde trade but would want a really solid second piece too.
  8. Other teams see the effort and body language too
  9. Thought he was a 50. Fine replace Crawford with Bergolla and Ricones. I’m fine with that.
  10. Give me Painter and Crawford and I’m driving Robert to the airport.
  11. Exactly! Just like Cease had more value after 2022 or July 2023. That’s the point. Win some, lose some. There’s no right or wrong here and it’s a roll of the dice either way but the odds of Robert’s value increasing from here are less than it decreasing imo. Clearly, you have a different opinion and that’s fine.
  12. Trading Moncada 3 years ago would have been brilliant so you win some you lose some
  13. I don’t like playing that game for an injury prone player (see again, Moncada).
  14. Oh there’s no doubt they’ll trade for him but don’t expect a package like the Nationals got for Soto a couple years ago.
  15. It might never work like Yoan Moncada for example
  16. Just like if Cease is anywhere close to 2022 Cease he would have been one of the biggest bargains in baseball. But he’s not so can’t make that assumption.
  17. Surplus value is limited if he’s just a 3 WAR player on average and is unreliable from a health perspective. I can understand why opposing GMs would be cautious.
  18. But a 55 FV pitching prospect could turn into a solid #2 starter. I’d say that moves the needle.
  19. His contract isn’t exactly cheap as those option years come into play. Has to be factored into his future trade value in these discussions.
  20. I agree. If the Sox can get a 55 FV prospect and a couple 45 FV prospects in return, I’m taking it all day.
  21. For many rebuilding teams like the Sox that are years from contending, acquiring players that are getting older (already in their mid 20s or approaching their late 20s) and/or gaining mlb service time certainly diminishes their appeal/value in a trade. For example, I’m sure the Sox would prefer Coby Mayo over Kjerstad even if Kjerstad proves he can hold his own against MLB pitching in a SSS and Mayo hasn’t.
  22. Kjerstad isn’t even a prospect any more (per mlb pipeline at least he’s no longer listed). Other top 10 guys like McDermott and Johnson are aging out too. Norby will next year as well. These guys are losing value the longer the orioles hold onto them.
  23. It’s definitely down. I acknowledged his trade value is still very high but on a scale of 0-100 and, if it was at 100 last offseason, it is now more like a 95.
  24. Ok, I don’t understand sending Wilson down. What am I missing here? He’s been one of their best relievers.
