  1. Also, since JDM likely won’t opt out and it’s clear Abreu will still be on the team for a couple more years at least, replace JDM with Abreu. Not quite as impressive but still a damn strong lineup (and hopefully they slide Abreu down to #5 in that scenario). If they can figure out RF, I’d argue in another 20 months there isn’t a single glaring hole in that lineup, barring injury,
  2. Very little has changed since April 19th. 2021 lineup is still very well intact, except I’m not as confident JDM will opt out as I was 4 months ago and yes RF is still a black hole (damn you Jerry for not breaking the bank on Bryce).
  3. Looks like our old friend Narvaez has plateaued from an fWAR perspective (lower now than he was in May) while McCann is still going strong. I wonder what a 2 year deal for McCann would look like this winter, buy out next year’s arbitration and tack on an extra year of control after that.
  4. I remember back in March/April, the board complaining about how the White Sox “killed Moncada’s value” by moving him to 3b. Meanwhile, in his first season at 3b he’s on pace for 5.4 fWAR (in just 125 games). I’d say that’s pretty valuable. As far as ceiling, 8 fWAR (aka best 3b in MLB) sounds about right.
  5. All he does is hit (and play great defense and run the bases extremely well). I guess he’s ok.
  6. Yea, you can take the .213 BA, 765 OPS hitter trending downwards quickly and I’ll take Abreu. Smoak and his career 745 OPS does indeed suck.
  7. Smoak? That guys sucks. He’s had one good season and a whole bunch of shitty ones.
  8. I mean I really don’t understand it. He’s the best available option for 1b next season. I don’t think it’s even debatable when you look at that free agent list and acknowledge guys like Sheets and Vaughn are at least a year away from the bigs. The folks that want him gone have yet to cite a single player better to replace him.
  9. Who specifically would you rather have than Abreu at 2/24M? Keep in mind, the Sox are attempting to compete next season.
  10. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.mlb.com/amp/news/2020-mlb-free-agents-by-position.html there’s the list. Tell me who’s the better 1b option for next season since there are no better internal options until 2021 at the earliest.
  11. Still haven’t answered the question. Maybe they should try Palka there ?
  12. According to @Balta1701, 1 WAR is worth $10.5M on the free agent market. Do we not think Abreu will accumulate 2 WAR over the next two seasons? I’ve proposed 2 years, $24M.
  13. Everyone keeps saying Abreu must DH next season but who do the Sox have that is better defensively at 1b?
  14. I think we will. I believe in his bat. I think he’s a 130 wRC+ hitter as early as next season.
  15. Anderson’s offensive numbers this year (and presumably the next few years) would have set the table for a very nice payday through the arbitration process. Instead, he’s paid a mere $21M over the next 3 seasons and then the team has control for 2 more seasons beyond that at a reasonable cost of $12.5M and $14M. Just fantastic.
  16. Another example of a terrific team friendly contract extension completed by Hahn. Timmy would have been arbitration eligible starting next season.

  18. Twins have only been shutout twice this season. Anyone still wondering if Giolito is legit?
