  1. Sox have two months to figure this out. One way or another it will work itself out. If they are 5-10 games over.500 in late July there’s no way in hell you trade him.
  2. Alonso is a stud. So clutch in all the big moments.
  3. If uptick in power last year and the start to this season holds then he’d be an ok DH but I was looking at his career 761 OPS and thinking that’d be pretty light for a DH. Hopefully the Sox can get more than that from Jimenez, Collins, or whoever else ends up at DH next season.
  4. He wouldn’t be a 120 wRC+ DH though without significant improvement.
  5. We are on the precipice of some fun times. Cease promo, Vaughn selection, Keuchel/Kimbrel signing, Robert promo, 2019 playoffs ?
  6. If you are going to do that, you sign Kimbrel first, then trade Colome.
  7. Yep. No reason to rush this one when he’s under team control again next year, a year in which the Sox may have plans to compete.
  8. Why is Hoerner some type of untouchable prospect? I don’t get it.
  9. 289 BA, 353 OBP, 728 OPS, 23 SBs in 71 A+ games. Combine that with outstanding defense and I’m not sure why so many Sox fans are so down on him.
  10. Promote Cease and Robert, sign Keuchel and Kimbrel and then make a run at this thing.
  11. Yolmer has been really hot lately. Watch him end up with his typical 1.5-2 fWAR season ha
  12. I’m too lazy to update it right now but two months into the season and this is still looking very nice.
  13. Meanwhile...the Twins are getting their asses handed to them in Tampa. What a lovely night thus far.
  14. I don’t think offense will be an issue for this team moving forward. Pitching is the only thing holding them back but hopefully the emergence of Giolito and strong performances in the future from Kopech and Cease alleviates a few of those concerns.
  15. I’m going to go on record in saying I strongly prefer Vaughn over Abrams. I’ve been penciling Vaughn into the 2021 Sox lineup for months now. He’d look great at the top of the order with Madrigal, Moncada, Robert, and Jimenez.
  16. Like I said over the weekend, let him get his season BA up to around .290 and then promote him to AA next week after the draft.
  17. Except 2005. The Twins employed this strategy last offseason and it seems to be working out. The difference between this Sox team and years past is that they’ve never had a core of young players this talented. Anderson, Moncada, Jimenez, and eventually Robert all have huge potential. On the pitching side, Giolito, Kopech, and Cease have the same. If those guys come anywhere near their potential, the Sox won’t have to add a whole heck of a lot around them to be a contender, especially if guys like Garcia, McCann, and Tilson continue to contribute.
  18. Calling Machado a “top young player” is highly debatable. He won’t even make the all star team this year despite being in his age 26/27 “prime” season.
  19. That strategy resulted in signing a player that is currently carrying a higher fWAR than the $300M man.
  20. I don’t think they will either but I’m saying they should in this case. Very minimal risk with either of those moves.
