  1. Why are you comparing Madrigal's power to Gorman anyway? Those guys have completely different skill sets. If Madrigal had Gorman's power he'd be a top 3 prospect in all of baseball. Likewise, if Gorman had Madrigal's hit tool, speed, and defense he too would be a top 3 prospect in all of baseball.
  2. Doubt he was taking PEDs when he was hitting 0-5 homers a season through the minors and first two full seasons in MLB. Despite hitting 9 home runs combined between 2003 and 2004 he still combined for 5.5 fWAR between those two seasons. I'd take a consistent 2.75 fWAR/season from Madrigal all day.
  3. How many home runs did Brian Roberts hit his first season in professional ball? How are Alec Bohm and Jonathan India hitting so far in A ball?
  4. One, service time. Two, they don’t want to lose that #3 draft pick. He could be the difference between the #3 pick and #5 pick. I think a case could be made either way on whether he should have been promoted by now.
  5. I almost forgot how much of a workhouse Clemens was in his early Red Sox years in particular. Good god, he averaged something like 260 innings and 12 complete games during his first 7 full seasons with the Red Sox. Again, pre-juice he was a remarkable pitcher and a guy Red Sox fans loved having on their team despite his personality. FWIW, I expect kopech to be 10x more likeable than Clemens ever was.
  6. If he’s a consistent 17-20 game winner and perennial Cy Young candidate, you’ll like having him on the team regardless of his personality. Most Giants fans liked having Barry Bonds on their team too...
  7. Clemens was a Cy Young award winner at age 23 well before the juice when he looked like this: http://www.espn.com/blog/sportscenter/post/_/id/47756/this-day-in-sports-roger-clemens-rocket-blasted-past-a-whole-bunch-of-mariners
  8. Meanwhile, Hamilton continues to put up video game numbers out of the pen. Would love to see him get exposed to some high leverage situations out of the Sox pen over the last 6 weeks of the season.

  10. Clemens was an immature hothead his entire career. If Kopech performs anywhere near Clemens’ level in MLB, he’s going to win a lot of games for the White Sox.
  11. A package involving Gohara and Allard with the Braves is certainly feasible for Rodon imo. Heck, if they win the division this year, they may be very interested in a controllable veteran starter for the next few years to help further solidify that rotation moving forward and maintain control of that division (especially if they let Sanchez walk which I'd expect). They could package Soroka/Wright and another pitching prospect for a big time RF with Markakis' free agency looming since they have great pitching depth in the minors.
  12. You compared them, I was just responding to your comparison.
  13. I mean not really when you look at the two years combined. He has all of 53 MiLB innings over the past two years. Burger played in 51 MiLB games last year.
  14. If he can stay healthy which he hasn’t done much yet
  15. Who cares about Albies. I’m not sure why he continues to be brought up in this thread. He’s irrelevant to Moncada.
  16. Having Albies instead of Moncada on this team would simply hurt their 2019 draft position. Let’s compare the performance of those two in the 2020 season and beyond when wins/losses actually matter to this team. Until then, I just don’t see the point in getting all worked up and his performance this year is actually helping their 2018 tanking effort.
  17. I wouldn't say it's a heist but it's a very solid return for Archer without a doubt. Makes me wonder what the WS could get for Rodon this offseason? I understand the durability concerns with Rodon but I think his value is very comparable to Archer's as we stand here on 8/15/18 and perhaps even surpasses Archer's value if he continues pitching well (and remains healthy) down the stretch this season. At this point, Rodon has far more upside than Archer, he's younger, he's cheaper, and his contract carries the same amount of team control. Yes, he's been less durable and has less of a track record but the ceiling is well above that of Archer at this point in their careers. Would Sox fans be happy with that Pirates package for Archer? I think I'd want guys in lower to mid levels of the minors opoosed to AAA/MLB guys like Glasnow and Meadows but otherwise I think I'd be quite happy with that return.
  18. I like that comp. If he turned into prime Brian Roberts during the WS contention window, I'd be elated. That's a solid 3-5 WAR/year player.
  19. Madrigal still with just 1 strikeout in now 95 MiLB plate appearances. Amazing.
  20. Given his injury history and the fact that 2019 is another development year, I would certainly be open to an offer that includes a couple top (pitching) prospects and catching prospect this winter
  21. The Indians won 94 games and were 1 win away from a ring in 2016. That starting rotation also consisted of 5 RH starters.
  22. Why? The team with the second best starting rotation in baseball has 0 LH starters.
  23. Not sure about that. If they are offered a couple of T100 guys and another interesting player or two, why not?
  24. When the Sox trade Rodon to the Braves this winter, the only question is will Anderson, Allard, and Contreras be enough?
  25. And yet no runs. The kid is learning how to pitch. Look out
