  1. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/11/red-sox-justin-wilson-agree-to-deal.html#google_vignette almost a week ago the Red Sox panic signed Justin Wilson (the 36 year old with a 5.59 ERA last season). I guess other teams do it too. But who cares? If teams like certain fringe guys like this, I have no problem with targeting them and bringing them in before other teams grab them. And it’s not like the White Sox have a bunch of money to spend this winter or very few roster spots to fill anyways.
  2. Dude, 25% of the 40 man was DFA worthy last December and that’s being very generous. But, yea, Getz was super concerned about the 40 man in regards to the timing of the Fedde signing.
  3. And I don’t think that matters. If he waits until February and signs guys that don’t make the team and/or DFAd by June, people are complaining he waited too long to go dumpster diving. I’m too lazy to look it up but I know for a fact at least a handful of posters were saying the Sox overpaid for Fedde too when he was signed.
  4. So Getz is…brilliant? I don’t understand the point at all. I’m sure the Sox really needed an extra roster spot in early December lol
  5. Yes, which was simply pending a physical for over a week. Terms were agreed to on 12/5. How many starting pitchers were signed before early December last year? If anyone is arguing that Getz wasn’t aggressive in quickly coming to terms and signing Fedde they’re delusional!
  6. Please explain to me why they are in the context of this discussion
  7. Nope https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/12/white-sox-erick-fedde-agree-to-two-year-contract.html
  8. He was also overly aggressive in signing Fedde. I remember reading similar sentiments when he was signed- “why the big rush to sign THIS guy?” That one worked out well and for that matter Dejong was a perfectly fine signing as well.
  9. Oh yes, I forgot about Julks. I think Julks, Fletcher, and Deloach are all fighting for one roster spot in spring training.
  10. Slater, Robert, Fletcher, Beni, Sheets, Deloach, Colas are the current OF options. I think the front office has pretty much ruled out Colas as a mlb player so that still leaves 6 guys. Obviously, Sheets is disposable but I kind of think they’re going to give Fletcher and Deloach an extended look in 2025. SSS but Deloach showed improvement at the plate during his September call up. Assuming they can’t move Beni but find a way to move Robert, that would leave Beni, Slater, Fletcher, Deloach with another veteran dumper dive move that can play CF very much in play. Perhaps someone like Bader or Taylor. That type of signing would likely send Fletcher or Deloach back to AAA. edit: forgot about Julks so I think he’d be fighting with Deloach and Fletcher for the final OF spot. Not sure what their options situation looks like but that might dictate who stays up when ST breaks.
  11. Preparing for a trade of Beni? Probably not but maybe.
  12. Agreed. I post more often than I should but still a small fraction of what the regulars do. I would post more if 90% of my posts weren’t met with a negative reply. Even suggesting realistic trade proposals are met with negativity cuz Getz, etc. It gets old.
  13. I’d be thrilled with a deal including Painter and Caba as the two main pieces.
  14. Jesse Rogers is like a young Bruce Levine. Never tells you anything you don’t already know and suggest stupid trade proposals. But I do like the Phillies as a trade partner if Painter is involved.
  15. I’d certainly take him over Coby Mayo if those are the top two prospects being offered by Baltimore and Boston.
  16. My guess is it would look something like Abreu + Mayer + Perales + Jordan in a deal with Boston. I’d be good with that.
  17. If you actually listened McAdam’s interview he implies that one of the big four would be included but two of them (Anthony and possibly Campbell) are off limits. So if Mayer is included in the deal is Abreu really the “headliner”? I guess but Mayer is a damn good prospect in his own right.
  18. https://www.mlb.com/redsox/news/exploring-the-red-sox-options-for-landing-garrett-crochet
  19. 1. Service clock already ticking 2. He’s a second basemen 3. Struggled in MLB (yes, he’s super young but so were the two other Jacksons) 4. Need more than one player in return for Crochet unless said player is a proven young star like Jackson Merrill
  20. Thankfully I don’t think they will and I’m grateful for that. Crochet for Holliday straight up would be a bad trade for the Sox imo.
  21. Robert’s trade value is minimal right now. They clearly missed the boat on selling high on him last offseason. Everyone fell in love with his outlier 2023 season.
  22. White Sox could do much worse than a 3 WAR platoon player. In fact, he’d be by far the best position player on the mlb roster, not saying much I know.
  23. Even a bad GM is getting a top 100 mlb prospect in return for Crochet and that’s better than letting him walk for nothing in two years.
