  1. And acquiring Burnes for this season and this season only will mean absolutely nothing if they miss the playoffs or get knocked out in the first round again. How’s that rotation looking next year without Burnes and Bradish? Elias better get ready to unload 4 of his top 5 prospects in order to fill out a competent starting rotation. Unless they start spending like a top 5-10 team, windows close more quickly than one might think (we as Sox fans know this better than anyone).
  2. Much like the 2020/2021 Sox the Orioles have yet to win anything. Again, if they don’t get their rotation figured out and Elias is too stingy to trade a few of his mid 20 year hitting prospects wasting away in AAA for significant MLB arms, they aren’t going anywhere.
  3. And despite all that they’re going to end up like the early 2020s Sox if they don’t get their mess of a starting rotation figured out. They’re a Burnes injury away from not even making the playoffs despite their ungodly wealth of hitters. Still need pitching..
  4. There’s going to be some growing pains no doubt but this is a good time for these young starting pitchers to get their feet wet. Better now than finding yourself in a situation like the Orioles who otherwise have a World Series team but their rotation is crumbling with each passing day. 22 runs allowed over the last 16+ innings to the Astros, which comes on the heels of losing their #2 starter for the year ouch
  5. Depends on how you define legit bats? Is DeJong a legit bat? Is Pham a legit bat? I think those are the types of veterans we’ll be looking at in free agency and then they gotta hit on the next several drafts. Jac would be a good start in a few weeks.
  6. In reference to acquiring the hitters that you so desire. There are multiples avenues to accomplish it, not just trades.
  7. Can never have enough pitching. Also, Sox can emphasize hitters in the draft and free agency next few years.
  8. I’d be surprised if they get a T100 guy for him. A couple interesting 45s plus a flier would be a fantastic return imo
  9. Two 45 FV prospects would be a better return than I had predicted earlier this season so I’d call it a win.
  10. Marine layer didn’t help Dylan on Friday night against the brew crew!
  11. Also, the Astros are clearly back in the playoff hunt so take their pitchers off the board. Fedde is very likely a top 5 SP available at the deadline next month.
  12. It’s going to be funny when Thorpe finishes this season with a better MLB ERA than Cease ?
  13. Late 26? What? There’s no reason he shouldn’t be with the Sox at some point next year, barring injury.
  14. I’m not hyping anything. I’m pointing out that with this starting pitching and a better bullpen the Sox are a lot closer to being competitive than most think. Despite a shitty offense.
  15. Sox are 6-9 over this stretch. That’s with no offense and one of the worst stretches from a bullpen I’ve ever seen. With a decent bullpen it’s probably more like 8-7 or 9-6 and again that’s with a shitty offense. Pitching still wins and that’s a reason for a sliver of hope with this team moving forward.
  16. Three guys with no mlb experience prior to this season? No. Signing someone like Tanner Scott in the offseason? Yes.
  17. I disagree on the bullpen. You add a couple solid high leverage arms and that bullpen looks much different. Kopech has been awful this year so there’s no stability on the back end.
  18. ^and this is why I say things can turn much more quickly than anyone thinks even in the Sox darkest moments of this season. I know the offense sucks but the young pitching could surprise an awful lot of people that don’t think the Sox will be competitive again until 2030.
  19. Considering he just turned 25, I agree but that’s not reality unfortunately as long as Jerry owns the team. A 2025 rotation centered around Crochet, Cannon, Thorpe, and Schultz could be the best 25 and under rotation in MLB.
  20. Thorpe dominated. Nice bounce back after the rough last start. Dare I say the Sox starting rotation looks above average right now? Refreshing.
  21. I’d like to see Adams get a crack at AAA soon. His numbers in AA this season are incredible. 6.33 K/BB ratio
  22. Thank you! Someone with some common sense around here. But don’t forget, he’s a “raw” 26 year old ?
  23. I’m writing off a 26 year old outfielder with a career .661 OPS in the minor leagues yes
