  1. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Aug 5, 2015 -> 11:39 PM) Fangraphs agrees with you. Bryant might be 2nd, but he's still nowhere close to Hamilton, who's almost twice as valuable as Bryant on the basepaths. Hamilton is just that much better than everyone else. Come on, 2nd in baseball? That's a joke
  2. I have no idea how Bryant's output this season results in a WAR of 3.5 especially when you consider that Josh Donaldson is "only" at 5.7. Their offensive numbers aren't even close and Donaldson is the superior defender as well.
  3. Cubs 2.5 games out of playoffs, white sox now 3.5. White sox have more teams to catch but I would take the odds of white sox catching the twins over Cubs catching Giants. It's Baltimore and Toronto that are the bigger issue but they are within 2 games of the white sox
  4. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 11:34 AM) Hitting .263/.317/.450 this year with almost average defence, worth 1.0 WAR so far. Meanwhile, Avisail Garcia is hitting .269/.319/.377 with completely horrendous defence, good for a -0.7 WAR. But please, tell me more about how Alejandro is just a bad baseball player and Avi is the future of the franchise. who says Avi is the future of the franchise? that seems extreme. he has a chance to be an above average player given his age and potential but I'm not sure anyone here thinks he is some type of perennial all-star in the making. De Aza is what he is. average starting outfielder, good 4th OF, that turns 32 next season. he's on the back end of his career at this point
  5. Just me or does Arrieta remind you of Esteban Loaiza when he was on the Sox? That cutter especially
  6. Until the Cubs learn how to beat the Cardinals, they aren't going anywhere.
  7. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 1, 2015 -> 12:12 PM) Obviously the past doesnt mean anything and White could be the best wr ever. Its just a risky pick, and based on that its somewhat surprising that the Bears (a team who presumably is rebuilding) would start the rebuild with a WR. Not to mention I think a lot of my concern is based on the fact that a wr is dependent on a QB. Greg Jennings would agree
  8. Heart of the order against the team killing us all season long and he absolutely mows them down like he's facing high schoolers
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 10:28 PM) Guys our bullpen is really good. But is it royals good? Or even better?
  10. Dare I say sox pen > royals pen ??? Putnam looking nasty with great late action
  11. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 09:35 PM) Royals Announcers: "It would appear it was started when Ventura said something to Eaton." NO s***. Of course they won't call out their guy though
  12. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 09:11 PM) Doesn't matter, but lost a lot of respect or admiration for the Royals. I know they were already developing that reputation, but just total bush league actions by there entire team. Also love the response from the Sox. I wonder if caulfield did too
  13. Weren't the royals announcers saying earlier this season that "the royals play the game the right way." Ha, what a joke. That team is now conpletely unlikeable and not just to sox fans either
  14. QUOTE (kev211 @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 09:50 PM) The cubs have 2,000 less seats in their ballpark right now than they did last year. So even if they sold every one of those 2,000 missing seats they would basically be breaking even? That's still shocking to me. Me thinks the opening day debacle has had an impact.
  15. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 09:42 PM) Another way to look at this is the Cubs are averaging about 2,000 less fans per game versus last year's avg. The Sox are averaging about 2,000 more. So 2,000 Cub fans have seen the light and been converted. Hallelujah!!! That's actually quite shocking about the Cubs given the increased expectations, good start, and hype surrounding the young guys on the big league club.
  16. It's a great day, Tigers and Royals both on the verge of losing. Sox to gain a game on both. Need 3/4 from KC this weekend to get back in this thing and also to get back to .500. Start the series with a win tomorrow to set the tone. KC was fortunate enough to miss our ace last time around but not this time.
  17. Savior bryant strikes out to end the game with a runner on down by 1. Also had the bases loaded with 2 outs earlier in the game and couldn't get it done.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 07:38 PM) Grow some skin dude. If you are letting some smack talk get to you that bad, you are taking the game way too seriously. It's not "some smack talk" it's every damn day and it's annoying.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 02:28 PM) I live in the Chicagoland area is well. The Sox are an afterthought because their fan base is a fraction of the Cubs. It is the same reason the Chicago Blackhawks were an afterthought for a decade. If Sox fans want coverage, they need to start showing up at the ballpark and pushing ratings up on TV. Until then, the media won't give a crap, and why should they? They aren't in the business of charity, they are in the business of making money. Cub fans are a bigger market to sell to. Would you put the Chicago Sky on equal footing with the Bulls, just because they are a professional basketball team in Chicago? Of course not. Sox fans seem to want it both ways. They don't want to go until this predetermined, unpublished list of qualifications is met, but are the first to complain when the media follows suit and doesn't show up either. That is hypocrisy. So just because the Cubs are more popular, I have to enjoy listening to co-workers and friends talk trash about the White Sox and rave about golden boy Theo??? If the White Sox are so unpopular, maybe they should move under the next ownership group because the constant discussion of attendance (or lack thereof) sure makes it sound like this franchise is dead.
  20. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 02:21 PM) I live in the South Burbs. I just don't really care. The Cubs are more popular. Just the way it is. Good for you. Living on the north side for awhile and then west burbs now I have always been in the minority and I get sick of them not only talking up the great Cubs but constantly talking down the Sox. So yes, I do care. It goes beyond just baseball at times, it's a mentality.
