  1. chavez, ibanez, wise, jones, stewart...damn thats kinda embarrassing that collection of guys is on the same roster
  2. paulie didn't play that one particularly well, defensive replacement anyone? nearly on cue
  3. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 08:55 PM) To be fair, Youkilis has been on the team for, like, 3 days still don't see how that matters much. youk slides to first, escobar is still the better defensive 3B replacement over odog. you certainly aren't subbing hudson over beckham at 2B as a defensive replacement...
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 08:51 PM) We use defensive replacements a lot more than pinh hitters or backup 1b. I haven't seen Odog used as a defensive replacement once this year, maybe I missed it? he either starts or doesn't play at all.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 08:46 PM) Why is Dan Johnson in Charlotte I think the situations of Johnson and Viciedo are unrelated. Viciedo is the clear starter but Johnson should be on this bench instead of Odog as viable pinch hitter off the bench and possible 3B, 1B, and LF in a pinch
  6. damn it is a beautiful thing seeing the Yankees so vulnerable in the ninth with Mo down. in the past, this game was in the bag for them after the 8th
  7. this closer by committee thing really is a strange sight to see for the Yankees. so used to seeing Mo in there to lock down the ninth for the last two decades. hopefully this is one of those times that his injury comes back to bite em.
  8. How is this Yankees team playing as well as they are? Even today they got Chris Stewart, Eric Chavez, Raul ibanez, and nick swisher in the same lineup. I know some of those guys are having decent years but really? Rivera out for the year, their starting staff isnt overly impressive. I don't get it
  9. QUOTE (mataipaepae @ Jun 27, 2012 -> 01:35 PM) Boy do you remember how bad he was last year? Maybe he is that much more comfortable in right field. If he can do this again next year I wouldn't mind him coming back. Definitely not for the same price. But he uss looking real good this year. I would still dump him for nothing in return this year if someone was willing to take his salary (if you could). But I don't see that as a realistic possibility...I don't even care if that would create a bit of a hole in this year's lineup because the benefits beyond this year would make it worth it.
  10. Viciedo has 1 great month and 2 bad months thus far this year. With how streaky he is at this point in his career, I am not yet convinced he will be a major contributor this September and October (if we get there). I do think he has huge potential though so you really need to keep playing him until he proves he can't contribute to a playoff-contending team.
  11. remember 2 weeks ago when soxtalk was appalled at the thought of trading adam dunn and would have given up floyd for a bag of balls. that's why it's a long season. come on boston do us another favor, would LOVE to swap dunn for ortiz
  12. his offspeed pitches are all over the place
  13. this is a game reed needs to get, can't blow a 3 run lead to these twins
  14. I agree with Marty on this one. What good is Hudson at this point? He can't hit. He can't play a good defensive 3B to backup Youk. Escobar is a better option at backing up both 2B and 3B. Escobar and Danks are better options as pinch runners off the bench. Why not make the pinch hitter upgrade to Johnson over Hudson? This bench really lacks a bat off the bench. Maybe Johnson can be that guy this year, maybe not. We won't know unless we try. But there is one thing we know for sure, Hudson is not that guy.
  15. Lol fitting for Hudson to end the game with a weak popout
