  1. Yea, I didn’t see it as different at all. That’s why all offseason I was saying I preferred prospects without mlb service time in the proposed orioles Cease trade scenarios. I didn’t see this team being competitive until 2026 at the earliest.
  2. I’m piggybacking on to the thought that other teams are reluctant to trade their young position players. I really really like Painter. I prefer him over Miller personally despite the injury risk.
  3. And wait for the next injury to further erode his value? Your proposed trade would have been viable if the Sox traded Robert 6 months ago but I don’t see them getting that today. Not after yet another significant injury. Wait another few months for another significant injury and the return will look even worse. I don’t think a return of Painter + Crawford is settling at all.
  4. I would accept that in a heartbeat from the Sox perspective.
  5. Oh geez and some people say I overvalue Sox players in potential trade scenarios lol. I think you guys are undervaluing Painter. He was untouchable prior to TJS and probably still borderline untouchable (unless the Phillies are getting a star player in return).
  6. Really? I’m not sure about that. Painter was the consensus top minor league arm going into last season prior to his injury. We’re talking about a guy that just turned 21 and could be a top 20 mlb pitcher as early as the 2026 season, assuming full recovery from TJS. Crawford is another T100 mlb prospect to boot.
  7. Because I expect them to trade Crochet. And if they don’t, a rotation of Crochet/Painter/Schultz/Thorpe could be the best in MLB starting next season. It would certainly have the most upside of any rotation in baseball.
  8. Robert for Andrew Painter and Justin Crawford. Who says no?
  9. Garrett up to 3.1 bWAR and 2.6 fWAR (#3 in mlb for pitchers). Perhaps I underestimated the trade value of Crochet and Fedde back in April within my original post even though @WhiteSox2023 only thinks I overvalue the trade value of Sox players.
  10. They won! Shame Garrett didn’t get the win but whatever
  11. God, I hope so. Banks is a better option at this point sadly.
  12. https://x.com/DannyVietti/status/1801458526461587456 insane
  13. Now the threshold has been raised to 200+ innings? Lol. In the other thread it was 100.
  14. I get all that but if you watched this guy pitch all season you could see he was different. And he’s always been successful when he’s on the mound since his electric run in 2020 prior to the first injury. But he’s taken his game to another level this year. It was apparent very early on the season, this is no fluke. All else equal, if I’m a contender, I’d take him over Cease right now without batting an eye.
  15. 6 months ago he looked like a sunk cost. The fact that his trade value is now rising to the level of Cease from 6 months ago is an incredible development for the organization and the rebuild effort.
  16. And to think he’s just 24 years old. Has an entire career in front of him still. This is prime Randy Johnson stuff he’s doing.
  17. Another dominant outing for Crochet. Given his age, 2.5 years of super cheap control, and unlimited ceiling, dare I say his trade value is now comparable to where Cease was at 6 months ago?
  18. They were classified as cutters on mlb gameday I believe.
  19. 9 strikeouts thru 5 and the crazy thing is crochet hasn’t thrown a single slider tonight. He’s only throwing four seam fastballs and cutters. Just absurd.
  20. Crochet with 7 strikeouts and 1 baserunner allowed thru 4 innings lol. He sure seems to be fading as he approaches 100 innings on the season as everyone on soxtalk predicted…
  21. McCarthy is into his first year of arbitration next season. Not really sure how he’s a great fit either given where the organization currently stands. And it’s not like he’s some type of stud now anyways.
  22. There’s been a lot of energy expended towards that trade here on soxtalk. I haven’t personally seen Mena pitch but nothing about his profile that’ I’ve read or his minor league numbers suggests to me he’s going to be a productive mlb starting pitcher. Yes, he’s young but I have more faith in a guy like Mason Adams who’s a little older but has seen success throughout the minor leagues.
  23. So every 5-6 years on average? Checks out. 2028 looks good but the next 12 months are huge. Gotta make 2 more Cease type deals when dealing Crochet and Robert. It can be done but I won’t say it’s a given or easy either.
  24. I agree with that but if we’re going to rip him for signings like Maldonado and Hill, we should at least acknowledge Fedde was a great signing (who also happened to be the only multi year signing of the past offseason).
