  1. pretty much gotta win out to the break here to even have an outside chance of making a second half run
  2. QUOTE(Markbilliards @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 02:49 AM) Guys we can't get excited until they beat more than one team. We're setting ourselves up for disappointment when we get excited too early. well i won't be disappointed because i do not expect it
  3. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 09:35 PM) The more you pretend they are dead, the better they play. Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. oh come on cant you just play along? java script:emoticon(':D', 'smid_2')
  4. So now that they have won 4 in a row how many games do you guys think the sox need to run this win streak to have any prayer of a second half miracle? i'm thinking that they need to take 8 of the next 9 before the break to even have the slimmest of hopes of making a legit run after the all-star break. i'm not saying that they are capable or incapable of putting something together, simply posing a hypothetical. what do you guys think?
  5. QUOTE(GOD @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 08:34 PM) remember when these game threads used to have 30 pages every game. Fair-weather fans its hard to get overly excited about a team 10 games under .500
  6. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 08:50 PM) Podsednik in the lineup does help the lineup score more runs. He's certaintly a better option than Erstad, A. Gonzalez, or the current reincarnation of Iguchi. That doesn't change a whole lot when the only two threats in the lineup are Konerko and Thome. Key is having someone, anyone, capable of reaching base. What Podsednik brings is our best option, but we can and should do much better in the future. fair enough
  7. ouch DJ flaming MacD "doesn't look much different there than before he was sent down..."
  8. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 08:41 PM) That was before Podsednik returned and provided our team with a spark. He was charging his grinder battery in the Cubs series, so that technically doesn't count. Everything begins now. There are soooo many games left within the division, anyways. We can make up 13 games easily. i know that was 100% sarcastic but seriously don't you think that having pods in the lineup does help this team score more runs? or would you say its merely a coincidence, honestly
  9. QUOTE(My Dixie Normus @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 08:39 PM) The guy likes to pull the trigger. yea...thats an understatement with juan
  10. sure could have used another insurance run or two there
  11. does uribe swing at everything? seriously even when he takes pitches a foot outside hes check swinging
  12. who ever said that the soriano signing was a bad one for the cubs? i'd kill for a hitter like soriano on the sox right now
  13. sox are putting up a 2 spot in the bottom of the 7th and winning this game 3-2 just trying to get some good vibes out there...
  14. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 02:38 AM) I am not at all disagreeing with you, however, the Angels bullpen was crazy dominant. Flash, you ask too many good and intriguing questions. Leave it up to KW to do it. F prospects if we get legitimate proven ball players for them. Prospects have become highly overrated, so much so that some think Milledge for Buehrle is a good deal. I don't understand. i second that, prospects are too hit or miss for me. give me the proven stater (i.e. buehrle) any day over a prospect
  15. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 09:22 AM) Phew. That was a stupid idea to begin with. maybe this wouldnt have been such a bad idea abreu is on fire and has his average up to .272 while dye is still chillin at .220
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 11:30 PM) All the clubhouse stuff came out after we traded him. Quite the shocker coming from our organization. why would they come out with that stuff while hes still on the team? no one wants the media to know that a potential clubhouse cancer is on the team while the season is in progress.
  17. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 03:06 PM) Right now...I wouldn't do that. Abreu doesn't have the power numbers he used to have...I think on the game yesterday they were saying he's hitting a hr every 44 at bats where he used to be around 1 every 19 abs. He's not what he used to be. I'll take the cheaper not-what-he-used-to-be over the more expensive one. i was thinking the same thing until the last two days abreu has actually impressed me quite a bit with his patience at the plate over the last two games and is the high OBP kind of guy the sox could use right now. i realize his power isnt near that of dye's but hes going to hit close to .300 and have an OBP near .400, id take that right now
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 02:26 PM) Doesn't matter....if they get the tying run to 2nd base, you have to play the match-up there. I can't wait for the Ozzie apologists to defend that move. didnt ozzie get tossed?
  19. all they are saying is they heard a "pop" on his swing
  20. just a guess, hes done for a minimum of 15 days but more likely longer he couldnt even put any weight on his ankle when leaving the field
  21. at least we dont have to hear anymore about how s***ty erstad is guess some of you are going to have to find someone else to nag on...oh wait, ozzie's still here isn't he? nevermind then
