  1. You made a definitive statement that he’s absolutely going to wear down. You don’t know that, I don’t know that. Everyone has been speaking in absolutes about his innings limit, durability, etc since he was announced as the opening day starter. He’s already proven most wrong and yet there will continue to be doubters until there aren’t ?‍♂️
  2. Let me know when it happens I guess ?‍♂️
  3. Season is 35% complete and he pitched better in May than the first 5 weeks of the season. Everyone is waiting for him to wear down but I see no signs of it. If anything, he’s getting STRONGER ?
  4. With Crochet, I think we need to see how the next month goes. If he pitches in June like he did in May, I think he will have a ton of value at the deadline because it shows his performance is not slowing even as innings accumulate. I’d rather have Crochet than Cease starting game 1 of the playoffs if they started tomorrow.
  5. Why wouldn’t anyone be interested in Crochet at the deadline? I go back and forth on this but the guy is getting stronger as the season progresses. I see no reason to severely limit him if that’s the case. He could easily pitch 130-140 innings this season. Would make for one hell of an opener for a playoff team in October.
  6. With the exception of Soroka, I’d say this initial post from early April is tracking quite well! Should be interesting to see what happens over the next 6-8 weeks as the calendar flips to June this weekend.
  7. The Royals spent serious money last offseason and just gave Witt close to $300M. I wouldn’t put them in the same category as Jerry especially right now as Jerry looks to trim payroll as they prepare to sell in the near future.
  8. Cool. They’d win 55 games instead of 45. Who cares.
  9. It’s putting the acquisitions in context. I’m not going to get upset about signing half a dozen guys that cost less than one Yoan Moncada and pretend like I expected them to be anything more than marginal mlb players.
  10. Thorpe has nothing left to prove in AA. I wouldn’t mind if they called him up to see if he’s a building block for the next 5+ years. He turns 24 in October so I don’t think they’d be rushing him given his minor league track record too.
  11. Combined still less than what they’re paying Moncada this season
  12. Nearly 9 strikeouts per 9 IP, 2.4 walks per 9 IP, 1.06 WHIP all look good to me. 2.3 bWAR, 0.9 fWAR also nice ~25% of the way into the season.
  13. We don’t talk about the Graveman trade enough. Absolute highway robbery on that one.
  14. This might apply more to Kopech than Fedde but Jorge López is a classic case of a late stage breakout. Basically had a worse track record than Fedde prior to 2022. Pitched a good first half as a closer and returned Yennier Cano, Cade Povich, and the Orioles current #26 prospect at the trade deadline that year. Not bad for a guy with no track record!
  15. Fedde has the 17th lowest ERA of qualified starting pitchers in MLB right now. And looking at the list of guys ahead of him, only Blanco is likely to be available at the trade deadline (Blanco was just busted for cheating so what’s his actual worth now).
  16. Aaron Civale returned a top 100 mlb prospect at last year’s deadline so no I don’t think we’re too high on Fedde if he keeps this up for another 8-10 starts…
  17. I’ve got Quero and Ramos ahead of both so yea back half of our top 10 is an accurate description. Time will tell on the value of Kopech and Fedde but Kopech will be a top 5 reliever available and Fedde will be a top 10 starter available and both of those tend to have a lot of value at the trade deadline.
  18. Fedde + Kopech for Norby + Beavers + flier seems like a fair deal. Would add some depth to the back end of the Sox top 10 prospects.
  19. I’d take the over on 40 for sure. I’d set the line at 52.5 wins.
  20. Haha. This is true but baby steps. We finally got Vaughn and Eloy out of the OF for good. Sheets is the final straw.
  21. Whoever the other team that was bidding against the Sox for Fedde’s services must be really pissed off they didn’t up their offer by a few million.
  22. For a guy with 120 innings to his name? No it’s not.
  23. 9 figures? No way. For all the reasons you mentioned, an extension would be something like 2-3 years at ~$15M AAV.
