  1. I didn’t understand dumping Rodriguez for nothing. My only guess was that there were off field issues the organization was concerned about but that was pure speculation. The two things you describe are not mutually exclusive.
  2. I’ve been off and on this board for years. This is probably the most active I’ve been here in years and I’m still only around for a small fraction of the time you spend in here. Either way, all your whining and moaning last month about the offseason vet signings was for naught. As I said over a month ago, there were NO impact free agents available with the budget Getz was constrained to. You aren’t finding multiple quality free agents at less than $5M per year in one offseason. Quite frankly, the vet signings of Fedde, Flexen, Pham, DeJong, Hill, Brebbia have worked out far better than I could have imagined considering their bargain bin prices.
  3. I’m not saying he’s bringing back a top 100 mlb prospect but someone like the guy Grossman brought back sure. That’s all guys like Rosario or Taylor were ever going to bring back too (in the best case scenario).
  4. Posters like @WhiteSox2023 are going to be in shambles when guys like Pham, DeJong, and Fedde return real prospects. All I heard about for the first month of the season is how the Sox should have signed Amed Rosario and Michael Taylor because they would be great trade deadline flip candidates. Meanwhile, DeJong has a higher fWAR than both of those guys combined and Pham is about to do the same in a fraction of the games played ?
  5. If Robbie frickin Grossman returned a top 30 guy then a heck of a lot more guys than just Fedde and Kopech will do the same..
  6. Jacob Gonzalez OPS up to .872. He keeps this up the rest of the season and he just might find himself in a top 100 prospect list come this offseason. Btw, Enrique Bradfield sitting at .682 OPS. I mention because he was often used as an example of poor drafting by the Sox last offseason since Bradfield went two picks later..
  7. It’s also crazy seeing the positive impact of adding just one plus bat to the lineup. Sox are 7-6 since adding Tommy Pham to the team.
  8. And marlins…if we decide to get really silly and win some more games just might catch the Astros too which would be hilarious
  9. I was certain they were a 120 loss team a couple weeks ago. I no longer see that as a certainty. I’m thinking ~110 now. Still terrible but not record setting. And we’re seeing some positive signs from young guys like Leasure and Ramos, which is really nice to see.
  10. I’m not saying the offense is good but it at least looks semi competent with the recent additions. With Crochet, Fedde, and Flexen settling in at the top of the rotation, this team might actually win some games this month and next.
  11. Teams, and especially teams like the marlins, generally don’t pay 30 year old DHs that are average hitters much more than league minimum. So yes, I believe he will be a DFA candidate in 2-3 years or perhaps even sooner.
  12. I mean if we’re going to be dramatic about all this then I will too. Bound to get lucky eventually if they trade their vets in two months for half a dozen 40/45 FV prospects.
  13. Specific to this trade, have you said anything positive about Thorpe or Iriarte? If I remember correctly, you were railing on Thorpe after his one bad spring training start.
  14. Point is, Orioles (and MLB’s) top prospect didn’t look good in his first mlb stint so not ALL orioles prospects are looking good this season. You choose to focus on the positives for other teams and disregard the negatives. For the Sox, you choose to only focus on the negatives and disregard the positives. I guess that’s your schtick.
  15. Meh, Cowser is coming back down to earth in a hurry after a ridiculous start to the season. Let’s see where he’s at in a few months.
  16. As for me, I’m surprised by how god awful Jackson Holliday has been. I thought this guy was a shoe in for AL ROTY?
  17. What Orioles castaways are you talking about then? Ortiz and Hall were the only ones sent in that deal. So one is a decent utility player and one is a terrible long reliever. And you’re impressed with how well their castaways are doing. What am I missing?
  18. What are you taking about? DL Hall has a 7.71 ERA. He’s worse than Chris Flexen and it’s not even close tbh.
  19. He’s a cheap controllable reliever with a career ERA in the mid 3’s. He stays healthy and continues this level of production for two months he’ll return a 45 FV prospect. Not bad for a 4th piece in the Cease trade no?
  20. He’s quite literally a utility player for the brewers. If he played everyday his OPS wouldn’t be that high guaranteed. Anyways, it’s funny you’re even remotely defending that trade because if the Sox made the same deal we’d be hearing about how awful it was every single day, multiple times a day..
  21. Joey Madrigal is a utility player. That’s the main piece in the Burnes trade? ?
  22. All I can say is thank god Getz didn’t take the Corbin Burnes package (or anything even close to it). This return is light years better than what the Brewers got. What in the hell were the Brewers thinking? Geezzz
  23. His walks have been too high but he’s been one of the best sox relievers this season since the start. 2.93 ERA this season, 3.41 ERA for his career. He’s a legit reliever that will carry real trade value in two months.
