  1. What are you taking about? DL Hall has a 7.71 ERA. He’s worse than Chris Flexen and it’s not even close tbh.
  2. He’s a cheap controllable reliever with a career ERA in the mid 3’s. He stays healthy and continues this level of production for two months he’ll return a 45 FV prospect. Not bad for a 4th piece in the Cease trade no?
  3. He’s quite literally a utility player for the brewers. If he played everyday his OPS wouldn’t be that high guaranteed. Anyways, it’s funny you’re even remotely defending that trade because if the Sox made the same deal we’d be hearing about how awful it was every single day, multiple times a day..
  4. Joey Madrigal is a utility player. That’s the main piece in the Burnes trade? ?
  5. All I can say is thank god Getz didn’t take the Corbin Burnes package (or anything even close to it). This return is light years better than what the Brewers got. What in the hell were the Brewers thinking? Geezzz
  6. His walks have been too high but he’s been one of the best sox relievers this season since the start. 2.93 ERA this season, 3.41 ERA for his career. He’s a legit reliever that will carry real trade value in two months.
  7. Well, yea. No way Burger even returns a Jake Eder today. As I said weeks ago, it’s more likely that Burger is a DFA candidate in a couple years than a solid everyday regular. Maybe Eder will be too but worst case he looks like a cheap mlb lefty reliever for a few years. Upside is potentially even better than that.
  8. And what about Drew Thorpe? Some people here trying so hard to admonish Getz for this trade too but Iriarte, Thorpe, and Wilson have been lights out too. Yes, it’s possible that a trade is a win-win. Win for the Padres in the short term, win for the Sox in the long term..
  9. Why would the Padres trade Cease in July? That makes no sense. They’re currently tied for the #6 playoff seed in the NL and just traded four prospects for Luis Arraez.
  10. In the big picture, not really. It’s unlikely any of the guys involved in these periphery trades amount to anything (including this one). People point to the Tatis trade but Shields was actually a significant acquisition at the time regardless of how it turned out. and what’s your issue with the moves he’s made so far? Everyone seems upset about the Mena trade in the same way they were upset about the burger trade last year. This too shall pass.
  11. Good examples but it seems Thorpe is on another level right now. At least these guys (McCarthy, Hudson, Rauch) were all quality mlb pitchers so that bodes well for Thorpe I’d think.
  12. McCarthy wasn’t anywhere near this. He had a career ERA in the 3s with the Sox.
  13. Imo the only move that Getz has made so far that actually matters is the Cease trade. All this other stuff is noise. And the early returns on the Cease trade look pretty good so far..
  14. Have the Sox ever had a pitching prospect with this type of success in the minor leagues? I can’t recall one with this type of success (minor league pitcher of the year one year with a chance to repeat the next year).
  15. MLB.com latest mock draft didn’t have him going in the first round but then they have him ranked at the #18 draft prospect so I don’t know. Seems like he’s a late first or early second round kind of guy depending on how teams want to manipulate slot values.
  16. What’s everyone’s thoughts on Sloan? A possibility for the Sox in the second round? I live right next to York HS and there were a ridiculous number of scouts with radar guns at the last home game he pitched.
  17. Really wish Getz had sold high on Robert last offseason. I wonder if he even tried?
  18. I’m not sure about twitter but the pro Jake Burger crowd on this website got awfully quiet recently. He seemed like a nice guy but he added little to no value to a roster already full with DH types. And at this point I’d rather see what a top 10 Prospect like Ramos can do at 3B or Veras at DH before giving more ABs to guys like Burger and Eloy.
  19. Need to move to the AL East. Our only chance.
  20. Thank you sir. I didn’t have the time or energy to put together this response. I guess anytime anyone says anything even remotely positive about Sox players this season it gets jumped on and spun negatively. It’s tiresome.
  21. Exactly! My point was that Fedde has pedigree so the talent was always there. He made some significant adjustments anfter a rough first go in MLB and is now seeing much better results. It’s not like some totally random fluke thing. And if he continues this production for another two months, I don’t see why he couldn’t return a couple 45/50 FV type prospects.
  22. “Fedde was a first round pick that was a consensus top 100 MLB prospect. Yes, he struggled in his first MLB stint but obviously the pedigree and talent have always been there.” ^where did I say his former prospect status will boost his trade value? I didn’t. This comment was in response to while he isn’t a “big” name like Justin Verlander, he’s also not some AAAA scrub like Tim Hill with zero pedigree.
  23. And that took my post completely out of context. Again, Fedde isn’t a “big” name but he’s also not some AAA journeyman that’s lucking into a good first half. He was highly regarded coming out of college and as a prospect. His first MLB stint didn’t go well but he dominated a competitive international league last season and that success has translated into MLB so far this season. It’s not like some fluke either. Dude has 39 strikeouts in 34.2 IP and a 1.07 WHIP.
  24. You’re conflating this entire discussion but whatever
  25. Agreed. Given Crochet’s recent dropoff and other potential concerns regarding availability and durability he’s likely off the trade market until next summer. I’m hoping one of Flexen, Clevinger, and Soroka can return a couple long shot fliers (40 FV types) but that’s unlikely unless they pitch well the next two months.
