  1. As things stand today, the likely sellers in July are CHW, OAK, HOU, LAA, TB, WSH, COL, MIA, PIT. A few other teams will emerge as sellers by July but as we saw from last season the expanded playoff format keeps a lot more clubs in as buyers than sellers compared to prior years.
  2. Exactly. There aren’t 5 better names on this list that will be available in July if Fedde continues to pitch the way he has the past couple years. Especially when you consider how cheap his contract is too (compared to someone like Verlander).
  3. Fedde was a first round pick that was a consensus top 100 MLB prospect. Yes, he struggled in his first MLB stint but obviously the pedigree and talent have always been there. He turned in an awesome performance in KBO last year that seemed to turn his career around. If he continues to pitch even close to the way he’s started this season, he will be highly sought after in July. Who are all these other big name recognition starting pitchers that will be available at the trade deadline? I’m genuinely curious. Can you name 5 better?
  4. True. From KBO last season and the first month of MLB this season, he’s shown he can be effective deep into games. Durability from SP alone is valuable in today’s game.
  5. Fedde has the same ERA as Corbin Burnes. Of course he’s going to regress some but even if “regresses” to a low 3s ERA into July, that’s likely to be one of the top starters available at the trade deadline.
  6. FIP in mid 5’s. Didn’t say he was great but if he improves just a tad he could return a couple long shot fliers. I know you’ve been waiting for Fedde to fail but he continues to look outstanding.
  7. This looks a lot different than it did a few weeks ago. I clearly overvalued Crochet and undervalued Fedde. Soroka has moved into the no trade value category although perhaps Flexen can instead return a couple fliers if he’s able to right the ship.
  8. See, we’re just in the wrong division. That’s all it is. Can we swap with Toronto maybe?
  9. Burger is a DFA candidate in a couple years. He had very limited trade value last July, let’s be real.
  10. You keep saying this but why? Have you actually watched him pitch? He’s impressed me all season.
  11. Thorpe, Iriarte, and Wilson have combined for 2 earned runs allowed in 34 innings. Not bad.
  12. I don’t think that’s a concern if they’re 30 games under .500 in July
  13. Wait…so people complained about Getz not signing free agents like Michael Taylor in the offseason and now they’re also complaining about signing Pham? What gives?
  14. Me too. The one thing this organization is relatively deep on is starting pitching (anssuming the kids in A+ and AA continue to develop) and they should be able to sign another couple Fedde/Clevinger type free agents in the offseason if needed to eat innings.
  15. Not just that but his remaining years don’t align with the rebuild timeline at all. If they’re lucky, maybe they’re competitive in the final year of his contract. And that’s a big maybe.
  16. The starting rotation has the potential to be a lot of fun in the second half of the season with Crochet, Nastrini, Cannon, Thorpe, and Iriarte all 24 years old and younger. I wasn’t a proponent of promoting these guys until they were ready and honestly felt like they rushed Nastrini and Cannon a bit but perhaps I was wrong. They looked very good in their debuts.
  17. That’s actually really impressive for a third round pick. Score a win for Chris Getz development @WestEddy ?
  18. When I suggested trading him last offseason, most laughed at the idea. “You’ll never get fair value trading him now” was the common reply. Well, his value is undoubtedly less now than it was a couple months ago even if we accepted an “underwhelming” package.
  19. I haven’t written him off but I do hate that big leg kick. I don’t see that working against higher level pitching. Too much movement, needs to simplify things.
  20. His D is as good as advertised. He’ll maintain a positive WAR if he even hits just .225 with no power.
  21. In a lineup otherwise full of bums, Fletcher at least looks like a professional hitter.
  22. Agreed. The only thing I would say though is that it was very difficult to find any quality bats this past offseason with the budget he was working with. Not sure what he could have done.
  23. Have to give credit where credit is due, Fedde looks legit. 2/$15M is a bargain for him.
