Crede is always underrated in my opinion. Last year in the playoffs I was surprised he did not win the AL Championship Series MVP instead of Konerko since every hitting stat he was equal or slightly ahead wasnt he? Yet he still did not win it. I also thought he should have made it to the all star game this year and he did not. It is not fair, he never gets any recognition he deserves. Now the talk of wanting to ship him out to make way for Fields after a career year, dont understand that either, even if some of it is financial.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 07:22 PM) But were talking about giving Crede a long term deal, not just what he should make for next year. We will just go by HR's to Rank the 3b 1st-10 in the league, you could use whatever you want. A.Ramierz Troy Glaus Alex Rodrigez Garret Atkins Brandon Inge Chipper Jones Miggy Cabrera David Wright As you can see, a few are still on their rookie deals, but most of the elite 3b in the league, who put up numbers better, or similar to Joe, make 10 mil+. Ok thanks, you are right now I see he would want 10-million a year probably. I dont understand players salaries too well.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 07:13 PM) Do yourself a favor, and go to ESPN's stat page, look up 3rd basemen, compare stats, and look how much each made in 06(its on the page) You figure out how much he should get.... I know there are much worse ones that make alot more, but they were free agents. Crede is not a free agent right now. Crede makes much less then Uribe right now and is a better player, granted it is another position.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 06:50 PM) Uh, Joe has become one of the better 3b's in the league, he's not backing up anyone. Well people are talking about a long term deal for Crede. I was just thinking it would be unreasonable to think Fields would be kept on the bench for 4 years or something. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 07:00 PM) Double that money and you're a whole lot closer to a realistic number. My point is do you think the White Sox would take that offer if Crede and his agent gave it? It is enough money for Crede to be ensured to be the starting 3rd baseman I would think, and a big raise over his current pay, almost double, and job insurance for 4 years.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 06:50 PM) This is just wierd...there is no sense in which Joe Crede will ever be a backup. Either Joe Crede will be traded, or Josh Fields will. And the factors making that decision will be: whether or not Crede can be signed to a multi-year deal, the price on that deal, and now, his back. Is a 4-year deal for $5-million a year a good one for Crede?

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 06:31 PM) Considering that the Bears may have the best record in the NFC to boot, Rex would defintaely get the nod given your scenario. Lets remember one thing, the Bears are one of the most well known franchises in the NFL and historically are one of the greatest as well. In fact, I'd say we are a far more storied franchise than either of the one's in New York. Hell, I can only say the Packers are potentially more storied than the Bears. Now I am not going to say I expect Rex to make the pro bowl, but if his numbers are that good, he'll no doubt get the nod. In fact if his numbers were identical to Eli, I'd expect Rex to get the nod. Ok I like how that sounds and hope you are right. I honestly expect Rex to match Eli's stats this year atleast. Does Michael Vick get in cheaply if the Falcons do well even if he does not throw TD passes you think? I think is about the most overrated QB in the league, Hasselback and Brees are miles better then him. I know his scrambling ability gets alot of credit, too much I think when not balanced by effective passing, and I dont care if his team does well or not since it isnt all due to him.
-
Would Crede want to be a backup to Fields though? There are many teams that would want him to be the starter. I now understand more why his agent wants him to leave. If they are so high on some younger kid he obviously is not welcome and would be stupid to want to sign a long term deal.

QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 05:25 PM) i don't know what world your living in but if you throw 30 TD's your going to make the pro bowl. Grossman is having a great year and is getting a lot of hype from people around the NFL so why wouldn't he make the pro bowl. It will be Rex/Eli/Mcnabb. Well hopefully he has 28 TD passes after week 14 or week 15(when they pick the Pro Bowl roster)and we will see if that theory is correct or not. I would like to think you are right and that should put you in automaticaly.

If the White Sox are so high on Fields like I am reading in this thread why would they want to sign Crede to a long term deal? Or is that they want to sign him for little enough money they can make him Fields backup next year, or the 2-3-4 years after next year?

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 05:01 PM) Thats not true at all, but whatever. Ok lets just say hypotheticaly that Rex had 30 TD passes, Eli had around 25, McNabb had 30 as well, Hasselback had around 25 too, and Vick had 15 but his usual scramble plays and the Falcons were leading the division at 10-4 around at the time. Who do you think would be picked in that hypothetical scenario?
-
QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 04:48 PM) Not yet. And I really don't expect one to be done anytime soon. So you dont think he will be on the team next year?
-
Joe Crede had a great year this year and proved his performance in the playoffs last year was no fluke. Was he signed to a new contract yet that I did not hear about, or will he be and for how much and how long?
-
I dont think Grossman will be picked even if he ends the year with 30 or more TD passes because: Eli Manning only has to end the year between 20-25 TD passes to be picked over Rex automaticaly even if Rex has similar or more. Michael Vick automaticaly is voted in if the Falcons win their division which it looks like they will. If he is around 15 TD passes and Falcons are leading division he is in for sure. McNabb will get in unless he has ununusaly bad year. Rex would have to toss 35 or more TD passes to be picked, it just isnt in the cards.

Who will be the best QB in the league this year?

Rex Grossman will be the best QB in the league this year. -
Who do you believe will be the best QB in the game this year? Certainly Tom Brady and Peyton Manning seem like viable contenders to do this. So does Carson Palmer, but only if his knee recovers fast enough. Drew Brees or Jake Delhomme to surprise this year and have a career year maybe? Culpepper or McNabb perhaps? Perhaps Rex Grossman will live up to his bold words and become the best QB in the league this year?

I thought it was a disgrace Crede did not make the all star game. It was so unfair, it was just plain wrong and awful.
