QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Apr 15, 2008 -> 10:19 AM) Welcome to "Value Mondays" also known as half price night. Save $12 on a ticket and buy 5 beers at $32...... You see what you are getting on "Value Mondays". I forgot about that.I was drinking hot chocolate.

I dont know if it was the weather but at last nights game there was a large percentage of a-hole fans at the game, more than usual. There was a small group of Oakland fans that were about 15 years old holding signs up for the A's.People were cursing and heckling them the whole game.I have a problem with that, its not like they were rubbing it in our face that they were there in our territory trying to mock our team. They were just some kids cheering for their team while they ate their dippin dots and we have all these meathead fans that wouldnt let them hear the end of it.It was pitiful to see as a sox fan.

Hasnt Leyland admitted in the past that the Tigers cant beat the Whitesox so they will just concentrate on everyone else?I think they know we own them.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 13, 2008 -> 03:08 PM) Now this I 100 percent agree with. They would still be the worst team in the league with Joe. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 13, 2008 -> 02:55 PM) The Tigers can't possibly be this bad. We have to build up a nice lead on them while they're down. I expect them to make a run at some point. Today? -

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Apr 13, 2008 -> 12:09 PM) You are wrong. It is a job. The umps get paid to make correct calls and not to have personal feelings make the calls for them. Players get paid to hit ball, catch ball, throw ball, etc. If bad calls from the umps prevent them from doing that, it effects thier stats, careers, contracts, etc. For these guys, it is not a game, hence the heated reactions by players when someone feels like they got screwed. Well in that case, there is people that I work with that are "bad people" and do there job wrong. But I dont make it a point to announce my feelings for them to everyone. They can effect my job in every way but telling everyone how bad they are doesnt help the situation.

QUOTE (rangercal @ Apr 12, 2008 -> 10:20 AM) yeah because so many players from the 1920s-2004 were a bigger factor in bringing a championship home than El Duque. Duque's performance will live forever, might as have a momento somewhere. I did say from that team, right? It was a great moment, maybe I sold him short.I just didnt expect to have him in the monument.

QUOTE (YASNY @ Apr 12, 2008 -> 10:26 PM) Has Ozzie had any dealings with that man off the baseball field? It's Cuzzi's actions on the field that has led to Ozzie's opinion of him as a man. Therefore, it has everything to do with the game and his calls. It has everything to do with the way the man conducts himself on the field. There's a history, a trend being exibited by this man and that's why doesn't like him as a man. Apparently, in Ozzie's opinion, Cuzzi had already made it personal. This is a game.Ozzie was unprofessional in judging the man's character as a person and taking it to the public. There is a diffrence between saying a man is a bad umpire and saying he is a bad person.Has it occurred to you that maybe Cuzzi is a good guy and Ozzie is solely being an ass towards him because he has decided he has made bad calls? In there last argument there wasnt anything reported that Cuzzi has said anything that was extremely disrespectful, and if there was Ozzie should have said what it was.Why not he says everything else that comes to his mind?

QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 11, 2008 -> 01:06 AM) Well... This really wasn't meant to be for listing names, but whatever works, I guess. How the hell did anyone get the idea that we even needed a thread to list former sox players?Iam going to assume that they were just playing in the first part of this thread.

I have been hearing this stat more and more this year and I really dont know what qualifies a reliever to earn a "hold".But considering the way the game is setup this day and age with relief pitching having defined roles out of the bullpen I would think this stat could be a good reference for those relief pitchers that wouldnt normally get as much as attention as closers and starters.I could see it as a bargaining chip for those negotiating future deals.

QUOTE (SEALgep @ Apr 12, 2008 -> 09:15 AM) You say overused, I say unappreciated. The point of Ozzie making his comments was to protect his team against future match ups, and to make it public, in order for MLB to not easily be able to turn their heads on the matter. Sure, he got kicked out, and he did what he did for the incident at the time, but he's just as concerned for the next time as well, as a pattern has already developed. Ozzie said he didnt like Cuzzi as a man. That had nothing to do with the game or his calls, that was a cheap shot that did nothing"help take the pressure off his team".Nor will it help us for future calls. Its like being an ass to the media, its never a good idea because they stick together and will make you pay for it.He has made it personal with Cuzzi and his fellow co workers will back him up.

Verlander,we pretty much own you.So lets just keep on doin what you do best against us. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 11, 2008 -> 08:18 PM) Yes, and the umpires stick together. If you diss one of them, it's not likely they're going to take kindly to you. Exactly, thats why Oz should have been a little more discreet in his dislike for Cuzzi. If you want to argue for your team during the game thats great but to take it to the media was stupid, and it didnt do Ozzie or the team any good.Everytime Ozzie says or does something stupid, we need to stop saying that he is just taking the pressure of the team. That is an overused bulls*** excuse.

I have been on a bit of a paranoid streak this past week. I have diagnosed myself with pancreatic and or stomach cancer, brain tumor, and sepsis. The sad part about it is that for moments I actually believed that I had these things.Being completely ignorant to the human anatomy is something I wish I could be.

Seeing fights at the ballpark are far better than on TV.I have seen a couple live but when I watched the highlights on TV they were meh.Even the bad fights are fun when you are watching them in person.
