And Arenado might not even sniff free agency.  No guarantee we get him either.  Machado is also you know *checks notes*, better.

True enough, but he's a great player who does things the right way. I get it, Machado is really good, and yea his Johnny hustle comments are probably overblown but I honestly won't kill myself if we don't get him or Harper.

Ottavino has some of the best stuff I’ve seen in my life. His pitches move so much i don’t think he’ll ever be a safe bet to control them.

He has the potential to be a disaster, but he’d be super fun to watch regularly.

This is pretty much it. Have him setup and if it looks good let him go...if not get his ass out. His slider is freak level shit, dude is 33, where has he been the last 10 years?

I really want the team to lock down another experienced reliever (Ottavino, Britton, Allen, Herrera, Boxberger, Holland) . I think that shortening the games for the (young) rotation would be an incredibly smart move as they gear towards competitiveness.

Good take, and agree. Those names all would work to me to various extents.

Sounds like Robertson for stretches with the White Sox...until he would just completely fall apart and then somehow get it back together again.

Heh. Kinda. Adam Ottavino would have these moments of silliness, but they were very few and far between. His slider is electric. I think it's his command that gets him into trouble that you speak of. I honestly don't trust him as a closer, but he's generally filthy and I'd love to take a shot at him.

  5. Tough stuff

1-Carlton Fisk. Back when Boston was a foolish organization. How they let this guy get away? Confounds me. Fisk was easily my favorite player of all time.

2-AJP-What's not to love about that guy? (yes I know my top two guys are catcher, because back in high school I ... didn't play a single inning of catcher, EVER)

3-Britt Burns, damn right!!! The ONLY time I've ever cried for a sports event? Landrum's homer off Britt. What a courageous performance by Britt. We just didn't have a good bullpen in 83. Always rooted for this big lefty. His last year in 85, right before his hip condition would finally ruin his career after many attempts prior, he was about as dominant as anyone.

4-Mark Buehrle, remember his first start (think it was in Minnesota) and I was like who the hell is this dude? An average stuff kid from AA? Who just happened to be awesome

5-Paulie-A consummate hitter. Leader of our 2005 champs

    Honorable mentions:

Frank Thomas, Lamarr Hoyt (we just needed to get that fucking series to the big boy in 83 and winning ugly would have really meant something)

Kittle is a really nice guy. You probably caught him at a bad time for him. If you bring your banner to Soxfest, he will be there walking around, and I am sure he would sign it for you, and probably talk to you for about 45 minutes.

That's freaking awesome. I'm down. I don't care that we didn't win, I do know the boys tried their ass off and as a fan that's all I ask. The 83 Os were a damn good team. No shame in losing to them, but man that's the team I wanted to see drink champagne.

That banner is one of the most special things I own. Worth nothing, but it somehow survived and it's still with me. That was a fun year, thanks to the boys.

  7.

This is my pennant I speak of. There is Harold's siggy right there. I can't speak for other Sox fans but I ADORE the 1983 team. I so wish we coulda gotten that b**** to game 5...Lamarr against McGregor? I'll take my chances. Still a fun season, because it was the first one where my beloved White Sox kicked your ass. NO, they didn't win it all, but I love them a lot...Britt left it all on the mound.

That said, it was a JOKE that Hoyt was seen ONE time in that series. NOW? The ace is often called on for 3 games. Oh well, they won it.

Ok-maybe I am wrong, but I'd like to hear others views on Kitty.

I found him to be less than a hero. There I was 8/5 1983 in Baltimore. I had the best tickets. We had a long rain delay. Kittle came out just in front of the dugout to talk to people asking questions (reporters?). Anyway, he sounded like a jerk. Then the questions were over and I had a White Sox pennant where I had already gotten numerous signatures. I yelled, "hey Mr Kittle can you sign my banner?"... He looked at me and ignored me. Walked back into the clubhouse.

I got almost every signature of players on that team, EXCEPT for Kittle, the Bull (Luzinksi) and Fisk (I was begging for Pudge but was told he was in the room playing cards) maybe a couple others. But one siggy I did get? Harold fucking Baines. Didn't say much, but a pleasant dude and his signature was actually very nicely written, not the typical scribble athletes usually sign with.

That banner, that I protected during a 3 hour rain delay, and battled for signatures of my 1983 heroes is currently pinned to my wall 10 feet behind me.I  LOVE the 1983 Sox maybe more than any team ever, I don't why. But they were the boys.

  9. Tough loss considering the great comeback. Bears defense was not good today. Barkley is an incredible football player, but if you want to be a champion you have to make stops. If the Bears make the playoffs this will be considered an incredible season and they are still in line for the playoffs, but games with Rams, Packers, Vikings (on road) none will be easy. Bears could end up 9-7. If they split at home with Rams/GB and win in SF, they are 10-6 and likely in the playoffs. Still work to do.
