  1. Kinda wanted Richar to swing away, but I understand the idea.
  2. Potential Lineup in the 9th inning against Putz -Uribe -Richar -Owens -Fields -Cintron Against a pitcher with this type of stuff...completely laughable.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 12:32 AM) At least they have Rasmus. They do. I think they also have a pretty decent catcher prospect. But they have nothing on our pitching prospects. Ehren Wasserman is terrific. This kid has a real idea how to pitch. He won't blow you away with electricity, but I really love what I have seen out of him.
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 12:29 AM) You could have made it simpler and said our minor league offensive talent is the worst in baseball. I suppose so. haha...I do think there are a couple other organizations worse (St.Louis for one). But our situation in the minors with the exception of a couple nice Starting Pitcher prospects is indeed quite ugly.
  5. QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 12:22 AM) I think I will back up on that suggestion. His fielding is above average (like Uribe) and his average is 25 points higher than Uribe's, but .............. the guy takes way less walks than Uribe (how could this be possible). The fact of the matter is we missed, and missed badly, on Pedro Lopez and Robert Valido. At one time, they were considered very nice SS prospects in this organization. Now they are basically turds. I like our situation at Catcher (another suspect position for us) FAR better.
  6. LOL at Fathom. Wonder if this dude Stults pitching for the Dodgers will impact whether or not they want to make a move. He pitched a gem against a good (hitting) Rockies team.
  7. QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 12:12 AM) I'm starting to think the Jays McDonald might be worth looking at. I still think a major deal will be made to bring in a SS. Miranda is still too far out to project. The other guys in our system are old or they suck. So, I believe a SP will be dealt with a SS being the center piece of any deal.
  8. Counts final totals (should this be it for him) were not completely atrocious. Don't know if it's enough to bring much in here, but we need something...prefereably a young SS....our short stop situation is abysmal...we had a 34 year old starting in AAA tonight, and a late 20s SS starting in AA. Single A has the rapidly regressing Valido...in short, we got jack. Get someone, ANYONE for this position.
  9. This is unbelievable...you walk Grinderstand, Pods and then to top it off...Uribe?
  10. Batista walks Erstad and Pods back to back. Why didn't he just bring out a Tee and let them hit off it? Why would you walk those guys? Hell, a Uribe homer puts the Sox back in it....trying to stave off last place maybe?
  11. OK, get Count out of there now...he got his WHIP down to 1.33...that should be good enough for a 28 year old single-A knuckle ball relief specialist.
  12. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 11:37 PM) His replacment then will either be a 40+ year old SS who used to play for Cleveland or a Pixie who plays SS for the Cardinals. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Sad thing is, I bet you're friggin right.
  13. Sox getting Contreras much needed work. Im ready for September callups...these aged, broken down, washed up bench players depress me.
  14. First round pick is not an option. Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh, and San Francisco will be tough to catch. Then again, we caught Washington and Kansas City and aren't far behind Texas and Cincinnati. So anything is possible..
  15. Sox to acquire SS prospect Hu from the Dodgers if we agree to keep Contreras.
  16. Erstad and Pods hitting 6 and 7 just seems really funny to me.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 10:22 PM) Highest payroll in division = last place Has this ever been done? I don't know. Hopefully, we're the first.
  18. Cool...if early scores hold here and in Oakland, we'll finally have caught Kansas City.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 10:14 PM) Haha, what a joke. It's amazing how quick we were to put him back in the rotation after two good relief outings. Did it to showcase him for the Dodgers and others...should have probably just kept him in the pen.
  20. I think I just saw the Dodgers scouts get up and leave the game.
  21. QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 03:39 AM) Sisco has the ability but he's still raw. Last night it took him 100 pitches to get thru 6 innings against a weak AAA lineup. And, he had 5 ground outs to 6 fly outs - not a good ratio. And, in those 7 starts he's 2-1, hasn't worked past the 6th inning in any of them and has walked 18 in 37 innings. He still needs work but I think he's worth holding onto. Early on they were keeping Sisco's pitch count monitored. And keep in mind, Scott Kazmir went through a period this year where he was tossing 100 pitches over 6 innings. That is something one can improve on. Sisco does need to become more economical, but the fact of the matter is despite that and despite the walks, he is getting people out, he is completing innings with success. After the comedic routine he rolled out for us earlier in the season, this is quite an interesting development. He is big, he is lefty, he is young, and he throws hard...definately a kid we need to hang onto. And yes...I did use Scott Kazmir and Andy Sisco in the same sentence (well, just paragraph).
