Gavin Floyd is one of the worst pitchers I've ever seen that has better than average 'stuff'. It's one thing just to have a crappy arm with an 85 mph fastball, no movement, and poor support pitches, but it's another to be such a horrid pitcher with a good curve and a better than average fastball. Floyd and Jose are two players I'd like to see in other uniforms next year.

QUOTE(bkmoney @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 10:09 AM) On Mike North this morning they were talking about how Jose is still going through a divorce and has been since opening day. I kinda feel for him now.. I say send him down to AAA or shut him down completely for at least august and see what he can do when hes back. just get the divorce over with. Total BS excuse. I can see the divorce making him pitch poorly (which he is), but you don't lose velocity due to it. If the divorce is on his mind then I could see him making bad pitces, but not 87mph bad pitches. The guy is done, put a fork in him.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 10:42 PM) LMFAO If there's any consolation, at least the single A kids have someone who will hook them up with some beer.

I think we need to really try to get Jose Contreras those 20 losses.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 10:17 PM) 0 of the 30 Major League Baseball teams have confidence that Jose Contreras can get anyone out. So you're saying we probably won't be able to deal him?

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 10:10 PM) Gavin Floyd will bring back less than the Iguchi trade or Mackowiak trade. So you're saying a rookie league player? Hmmm, ok lets do it.
-
Gavin Floyd needs to be sent back down to Charlotte, pad some stats, so we can then dump him off on some poor schlump in the off-season.
-
Another homer...what is that? 7? 8?
-
Almost another homer. Get Floyd out of Chicago, he's atrocious.
-
Gavin Floyd looks absolutely horrible. He has the look of a guy who will be out of baseball in 3 years. I am beginning to think the trade was Garcia for Gio...may turn out good there, but certainly not a winner for Kenny at this point.
-
Another dinger for the Yankees. Floyd hasn't looked good at all since coming to Chicago.

QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 09:35 PM) I like the 92-94, but not the 89 Well I just googled it and some early scouting reports from his AA days had him in the mid 90s. Here is a snippet from a story in 2005 HAGERSTOWN, MD. -- Gio Gonzalez is considered by some to be the top pitching prospect in the White Sox organization, if not all of baseball. The hard-throwing southpaw with the slight build has been clocked consistently in the mid-90s on the gun, and complements that heat with a wicked curveball and a solid changeup. He's 2-1 with a 1.23 ERA for Class A Kannapolis, easily handling much of what the South Atlantic League has to offer. His 38 strikeouts in 22 innings was tops among the entire Minor Leagues at one point this season, but Gonzalez hasn't pitched since straining a right oblique muscle on April 23 against Hickory. He struck out 10 and allowed only four hits in his six innings of work that day, but hasn't been back on a mound since. MiLB.com caught up with Gonzalez on Monday evening at Hagerstown's Memorial Stadium after he went through nearly two hours of treatment and rehab work. On a chilly, gray evening, Gonzalez took time to discuss his injury, his approach to pitching and what he likes to do in his spare time

QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 09:30 PM) What pitches does Gio have, and how hard does he throw? He has a + curve ball and a solidly 92-94mph fastball. I think he is working on a change as well. Like Fathom said, expect him to be around 89 by the time he gets to Chicago.
-
Wow...this night just keeps getting better. I think this team is just frustrated now. SHaping up to be the worst season since 1994 or 1989.
-
We need to see Gio in AAA first I'd think. Although it's not unheard of to callup a guy from AA.
-
This is Gavin's audition for Jose's spot I'd have to think.

I wish the slaughter rule was in effect.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 08:54 PM) I don't want to get into a huge NBA debate here Better not or I'll start a debate on who should be the Blackhawks 2nd line center. (indeed it should be and is Toews)

QUOTE(bigruss22 @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 08:47 PM) I love Paulie, I almost wished we would trade him and Thome so that they wouldnt have to go through a season like this Though I understand your point, I don't want that. Paulie is one of the few players that makes us proud, even in loss the dude is still a stud, a class act, a leader, and a winner.... We just need to put some friggin people in front of him.
-
Yea, this team isn't that far off...just need a leadoff hitter and a guy in the pen/sarcasm. I expect the off-season to be a very active one, this team sucks.
-
And this should be Jose's last start for a while. No point in running him out there anymore. Call up someone from AAA and send either Gio or Eggs to AAA.

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 08:14 PM) I am not able to watch the game (I have gameday). So Richar put some wood on the ball even though it was an out? Yea, and it was also a shot to left field, so Richar showed some pretty good power to the opposite field. I like what I've seen of him so far. As far as the kids, I am very excited about Fields and Richar.
-
We're back in it...maybe we should go to the pen now. Richar gave one a charge.

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 07:34 PM) Dreifort off the top of my head. Hampton maybe, what about Denny Neagle? All those guys got huge paydays and then sucked, Contreras wont be the first or last. So is it Neagle was crap....Hampton was crap....and Jose is crap, but at least he's our crap. Be proud of him.
