  1. I get that, but then we're in rumors for these other guys. Baseball silly season, I get it. These "rumors" sound like the Sox are on the cusp of a pennant run, which they clearly are not. Ill let it play out.
  2. While it's awesome and sexy to be in the F/A market, if you're not close, whats the friggin point? This team is NOWHERE close to Boston and Houston (not to mention NYY, Cleveland) and if you put Big Maple AND Machado on this team we're still not in their class.
  3. These two guys will make more money than most countries in the common market. Do we have a chance? And still if we signed one, how close are we given we have little pitching. Are they willing to have a crap 2019, waiting for 2020 when Cease, Dunning, Eloy are ready and Kopech is healthy? Just dunno
  4. Rick Hahn traded Fernando Tatis, Jr for an aging pitcher. Until one of his ballyhooed prospects lights it up I am skeptical. I DO like and am enjoying the rebuild. The good thing about baseball is we can pontificate about the great minor league system as a way to assuage our misery of a 90-100 loss season. Think about this, I was more interested in White Sox baseball LAST year than I had been in some time, simply because he have a "great minor league system". At some point that's old dope and it's time to win some games on the Southside.
  5. Corbin grew up a Yankees fan. I'd be shocked if he doesn't land there.
  6. The projection is in 2 years all SP should be in house options. Guys like Keuchel, Corbin, even the Japanese player will be looking for term. No way should we be remotely involved with Big Maple, as that would undue the rebuild. I could see the Sox going for Happ or maybe short term deals with Gio, Miley, Harvey, Ed.Jackson and Cahill as filler gaps. Not enamored with any of those guys, but we need a bridge to 2020. Happ is drawing interest in the market. So the price may bid up. Will he get a 3-year deal? He should NOT with the Sox. I don't know the ins and outs, but the Sox DO need a starting pitcher or two for next year, but trading for one makes no sense and the best F/As won't come to the Sox without a huge overpay. Who is a game changer? If the Sox are going to break the bank I say go get Manny and groom our arms.
  7. Showdown next week v. Minnesota. That game could be a statement game that the Bears can win this division. I tell you with the White Sox in rebuild mode, the Blackhawks in meltdown mode, I don't really follow the NBA though I don't dislike it, the Bears are our last short term hope.
  8. Rebuilds are a fickle business. I remember the excitement and glee when welcoming in prospects, but prospects are prospects and not ML players for a reason. They are not ready, have to mature, build strength, learn another secondary pitch, work on pitch recognition, etc. It's a fools gold game, and it really sucks when the prime target in one of the trades, pitches masterfully in his first few games and then ends up on the shelf with TJS. That was a blow. But there are positive developments. I remember much speculation that Cease would end up in the pen. At this point, he looks like a legit top of rotation starter. Dunning, the third guy in the Eaton trade, is showing (or was) legit promise as a rotation horse that could eat innings. Blake Rutherford, who many really worried about had an excellent season in high A last year and his suspected advancement to Birmingham will be one of the things I'll be tracking next year. Madrigal shows ZERO pop, but the kid is a legit hitter. Adolfo and Basabe (along with the aforementioned Rutherford) provide additional outfield prospect depth behind headliners Eloy and Robert. If Moncada ends up in the OF that gives the Sox a tone of depth as I'm not even counting Delmonico and Cordell. There will be other kids that rise up as well and we are looking at another high pick in next year's draft. But things are going slow I'll admit. Gio and Rey have scuffled, Cease was on innings count, Dunning was shelved, Basabe is struggling in AFL, and of course Kopech. As a few have said, this thing is incomplete.
  9. Remember they were a favorite v. Miami too. That said, you are right. But all that only happens with real progress with Trubisky, the defense gets back to what we think they can be, the receivers actually catch the ball, and special teams don't go clown city on us. If Nagy can clean up those things then yes the Bears could do something interesting, but the doubts remain. That said, the games have been kinda fun (though frustrating at times) to watch.
  10. I have them splitting w/ Detroit, but getting swept by Minnesota. The Bears have yet to see a defense that good. 2-2 against those two teams would be great, but I can't see that at this time. If Trubisky progresses then we can alter our view of their potential, but as of right now I see 1-3 in those 4.
  11. Agree. Thing is, losing to Miami made this game more important. A win down there, then the Pats game is just house money.
  12. Defense can't stop the run in obvious running down. Loss is NOT on the QB, it's a total team loss.
  13. Forget Trubisky, this goddamn special teams has issues. Missed field goal last week, long kick returns (2 of them,1 for a TD) and had a punt blocked. Pathetic.
  14. I think Mahomes was just amped up. He settled down and turned that game into passing drills. Brady did the same to the chiefs. Trubisky has sucked today on every level needed for QB other than mobility.
  15. Mahomes schooled these guys last week. The receivers have not played well, but Trubisky has been brutal.
  16. You are right. I am thinking 7, maybe 8 realistic and 8 wouldn't be terrible, but yes 9 would be good.
  17. For as "quiet" as the D has been, they've mostly been solid. Even with a nothing pass rush today everything has been dink and dunk, two TDs from STs. I'd like to stuff the run a bit better, but NE isn't really exploiting that so no issue.
  18. Maybe, but that pass was badly underthrown. It's a touchdown if thrown accurately.
  19. An accurate pass is a 50/50 option at this point.
  20. Other than his scrambling, Trubisky has set QBing back 75 years. It's also very clear that Jordan Howard is the team's best offensive player today and should get more carries in the 2nd half. Bears have ZERO pass rush on Brady, which spells trouble. Good things: O-Line looks good, secondary is playing well under tough circumstances, J-Ho, Burton.
