  1. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 04:59 PM) I wonder how much fan support influenced the decision to get something done. Hard to say, but it would have been a horrid PR move in light of the fan support. Keeping Mark on the team means good vibes from Fans to Sox brass. Whatever the case, I am proud to see loyalty carries much weight with Mark and it appears he isn't JUST about the money. Sox fans should consider ourselves very lucky to have a chance to root for such a class person/player.
  2. For all the misery that has been White Sox baseball this season, the last two days have been completely freaking awesome. We come back from getting woodshedded on Friday and put scoreboard on the Twins ass in back to back games coming off that ugly double header. We get two masterful starts from Buehrle and Javy...and then we resign our ace. This is why we love baseball...even amidst a miserable season, there is something to be ecstatic about. Kudos to Sox brass for getting this deal done and having Mark continuing on with his career in Chicago simply has me on cloud9...I was so scared he'd be dealt and worse of all, dealt for crap.
  3. Maybe Dye has been dealt for Clayton Kershaw and Matt Kemp. Either that or we picked up Neifi Perez.
  4. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 10:31 PM) God, seeing Probie land a few haymakers would make this day so much better. No doubt. At least Probie would go down in a blaze of glory. Our team is just going down today.
  5. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 10:28 PM) i take back my earlier statement. The twins aren't laughing at the sox in the clubhouse. They're doing it in the dugout. and here's the really good news: The Twins are the third best team in the division. We have even more games left against the best two -- Cleveland and Detroit. Yea, and Detroit is unleashing their #1 pick from last year, Andrew Miller who is downright nasty. With Miller, Verlander and Bonderman leading that team I just don't see how we will compete in the near future.
  6. This is just comical. I'm not even mad anymore. Fire Ozzie and let Buttermaker manage.
  7. Someone get Bob Probert warming up in the pen...time to light this candle.
  8. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 10:20 PM) Can we start a brawl or something? Where is William Ligue Jr. when you need him? He may be warming in the pen.
  9. I read that the Marlins have liked Brian Anderson for some time.
  10. Just remember folks...Walter Payton's very first game he rushed for -9 yards (I think). So first performances are not always an indicator of future success.
  11. QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 09:09 PM) Yes. If you are going to get your rear end kicked, at least make it uncomfortable for the opposing hitters. I am not talking about drilling guys but make them move their freaking feet. You gave up 20 runs in the first game and now another 5 thus far, show some stones. Agree. I don't think this team is showing any toughness or heart anymore. I agree, don't head hunt, but you have to go make a statement. Floyd is showcasing a mid-90s fastball and does have a nice curve, yet looks completely overmatched. This is just terrible.
  12. Batting practice has ended for another half inning. 5-0...this team is embarassingly bad.
  13. QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 04:49 PM) It also said in the article St. Louis is an option for MB with Reyes being the main guy we would get back. Take it for what it's worth. like you said it's all speculation. I also saw this on another site but not sure where it is from: In my personal opinion I think Buehrle will be dealt to St.Louis if anywhere. The Cards know they probably could resign him. Trouble is, the Cards don't have a lot in their system and Reyes -while being a fine prospect at one time- is starting to look like trouble. I would take Reyes, but Colby Rasmus has to be one of the other TWO prospects we get back. Don't know the 2nd guy I'd want, but yes....Rasmus and Reyes is a solid starting point.
  14. QUOTE(PoopsThompson @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 04:45 PM) pinchrunning in the 7th for a guy that's 3 for 3, when you're down 10? Why not..game is over. Don't want PK to get hurt running the bases...if we lost him, we may very well lose 40 or 50 games in a row.
  15. Nick Masset has future journeyman relief pitcher written all over him. Sorry to say that...at least we got Danks out that deal, who does look like a real find.
  16. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 04:34 PM) Whoah...if the Red Sox throw some cash the Sox way and the deal enables the club to get Bucholtz and Ellsburry or someone else I'd bite at the deal. Maybe it's just me, but I don't see the BoSox dealing Bucholtz...that guy is a stud.
  17. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 04:12 PM) It took us until the 6th, but that's their first inning not scoring a run. If we can just hold them down the rest of the way and hit 2 grand slams, we've got this thing. I think we can grind our way to 8 runs for the victory.
  18. Hell yea, if we can force a punt here then look out.
  19. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 03:40 PM) 56-106 in 1970. I wasnt around but i'm guessing that was a bad year. Yea, I was just going by actual years I remember.
  20. One of the worst seasons in my 30+ years of being a fan of this franchise. I can't remember a season this horrid.
  21. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 12:29 PM) I know this is an injury, but to me this might be another hint that a deal of one of our starting pitchers is imminent. If that is the case then I can only see Javy or Garland moved. We aren't getting any good offers for Mark since everyone is afraid of him walking out as a rental. The other guy on the block, Contreras, can NOT be interesting to anyone. Dude appears washed up. At best, he'll return a lower tier prospect. Garland and Javy are easily our two most valuable pitchers. I know the Met guy likes Javy, but I don't see Javy or Garland dealt at all and if so, much closer to the deadline.
  22. Both of his performances so far are not encouraging. I hope he develops and he is still young with a strong arm, but so far he looks utterly useless.
