QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 09:46 PM) DLS belongs in Birmingham, or at the very least, Winston-Salem. Indeed he does. Winston-Salem at the least, maybe we should push McCullough to B-ham and get Gio up to AAA.

How many games do the Sox need to win in this streak
kwolf68 replied to JUSTgottaBELIEVE's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I see no chance. If it was only 1 great team we were chasing maybe, but we have to catch Cleveland and Detroit, not to mention the ever-annoying Minnesota is there. A team using Andy Gonzalez, et.al., as a prominent players simply isn't sustainable. I'd like to see better, more competitive baseball. I'd like to see the starting pitchers get rewarded for their work. Paul Konerko is starting to hit, Iguchi is starting to hit, but we have or had 4 major parts of the team (Pods, Dye, Erstad, Thome) to miss time due to injuries and there is no lock on it they won't miss more time. We have other guys who have just played poorly, a few of our guys look like their best years are behind them, and our bullpen has been in shambles. If this team finishes .500 it would be a terrific season. I just don't think the team is good enough to catch Cleveland or Detroit. It has some great parts (the rotation, Jenks, PK), but mostly it's a mediocre team. Other than Buehrle, I want to continue with the impending firesale of retooling our program. That isn't being a doom and gloomer...I still support this team, still watch, still root, but I just don't see any plausible chance they make the post-season and 3 wins in a row over Tampa Bay does nothing to change that. -
Congrats big Frank. We love ya.

A decision I just don't want to make. I want them both in our rotation for at least the next 5 years...they are stud pitchers, they take the ball every fifth day, they are both young, they eat innings, and they win. They aren't sexy like some with the 10+ ks every game, but they are money in the bank in my view.
-
This is the best news I have heard all year about our White Sox. Despite the struggles of our team I could not be happier at this moment.
-
These (bad) rumors are making my head hurt. I will just wait until something actually happens before getting worked up.
-
I know we need a firesale, but I want to resign Buehrle. He wants to remain in Chicago, he is home grown, he helped bring home a Title, he is a rock, a stud, he eats innings, he wins, he battles. He is the face of this franchise (w/ PK). I want a boatload of spects, but I want this kid in our rotation for the next decade more.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 04:12 PM) i agree, which is why i like gomez a bit better i think....the odds of a milledge + pitching prospect aren't as good as a gomez + prospect........ milledge + pelfrey isnt realistic....but gomez + humber might be Totally agree. Still, even though I am on record as saying this is a lost season and it's time to firesale this puppy, I don't like the idea of trading Mark Buehrle period. I would only want to deal him for "the farm" and not for a couple good prospects. I don't know how realistic our chances are at resigning him, but that would be the first course of action I'd take. He isn't an old man and could be a primary part of rebuilding this thing. Although sadly, dealing him may be the only way to make this rebuild job happen quicker than normal. Oh well...Mark Buehrle is one of my favorite players, maybe of all time and seeing him leave Chicago isn't something Im eagerly awaiting. I know it's part of the business of baseball and from that standpoint I then want the very best in the interest of the White Sox organization.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 04:07 PM) milledge is nice, but they have some other options i wouldnt mind either....carlos gomez was speculated by olney in his chat if not milledge....fernando martinez is interesting as well I like Gomez a lot myself. In the end, it takes at least 2 elite prospects to get Buehrle, one being a pitcher. And that my friends is the BARE BONES MINIMUM. No chance in hades that we deal Mark for a lone OF prospect.

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 01:04 PM) yeah. i've looked at a few mets boards and the prevailing wisdom is that milledge for buehrle straight up is what's most fair. of course, they are idiots and fools so who cares what they think. There is no way in the history of the spoken word of English that the Mets would obtain a stud like Mark Buehrle for one Lastings Milledge. I don't care if it's only for 3 months...it's very possible Buehrle added to the Mets rotation seals up the NL Pennant for them. In addition, they also have a ton of money they could potentially throw to Buehrle possibly keeping him making their end of the deal that much better. In the end, I don't want Buehrle to go anywhere, but if we must deal him you bet your ass the Mets WILL BE getting up off at least two big-time prospects. Either that or we'll just keep him and let him walk in the off-season. We should NOT GET TAKEN because we think Mark is out of here after the season. Screw the Mets fans.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 10:48 PM) He is hitting .275 this year, but don't let facts get in the way of a good rant. Yea...facts... Like these his averages the last 3 years have been .266, .247, and .234.

QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 09:00 AM) Dunn is a fun player, and can be extremely effective in the right lineup, but I don't see how he's a fit for the Sox at this point That is sorta my take. We are in a rebuilding mode in my view and Dunn is more of a player to be acquired by a team with his particular need. His cost simply is too high and there will be virtually no returns (unless you honestly think him being acquired makes us post-season contenders). If you really believe that (then I think you're drunk), but if you do then I understand the desire to trade.
-
Thanks guys. I didn't think he was that good in the field, but it appears the guy is a pure butcher. I'd be skeptical of bringing in a guy who plays such poor defense. Poor defense can take away the runs good hitting puts on the board.
-
Dunn should be acquired by a team one power hitter away from contending, which we clearly are not. Outside of the fact I think the fit sucks, what do you folks propose sending to the Reds for Dunn. The Reds will want some sort of package that includes prospects for him, no other reason to deal him.
-
I like him, but how bad is his defense really?

Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes
kwolf68 replied to Kalapse's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
Again, Dunn and the White Sox makes no sense. Dunn is a quintesential "sell off" piece from a team going nowhere. He should be traded to a team one power stick away from making a run, which the White Sox are not. -
...a low average, big strike out guy who can hit the ball 1000 feet. Perfect acquisition.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 16, 2007 -> 01:41 AM) I can't believe how s*** we've become since winning it all. It's the 85 Bears revisited. It could be a long time before we contend again. Well, the 1986-1988 Bears were a great team, just horribly managed by a circus freak coach. Ditka poorly handled the 1987 strike, he poorly handled the McMahon/Flutie situation, he was a clown of a coach after showing great promise early in his career. The fact the 1985 Bears, with that amazing talent, never even got back to the Super Bowl and were blown out in two of the three following HOME playoff games inidcates a serious issue at the time. This White Sox team stinks...the Bears didn't stink. Big difference.

The White Sox going after Adam Dunn is almost too stupid to even consider. -

QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 16, 2007 -> 11:11 PM) Day got injured and Aardsma was the best option on the 40 man roster, which is full. Unless you want Vasquez up here, which is possible but might be a bit soon, he was the best option. Call up Oneli Perez...anyone... Aardsma couldn't get AAA hitters out. What makes ANYONE think a dude with a +6 AAA era is going to do anything but pizz himself back in the show? -
Just another example of a footloose tomfoolery hack organzation. Let me see if I have this down: -After starting well, Ardsma stinks in Chicago -Because Aardsma stinks he is sent to Charlotte -Ardsma stinks at Charlotte -Ardsma is recalled to Chicago Someone make some freaking sense out of this!!!!
-
And KW... please keep trading young minor leaguer players for minor league veterans with virtually no upside. He got lucky with a few trades, but I am not convinced he will be able to rebuild this franchise. He made some great deals...but most of his recent deals have been garbage.
-
Finally...our AAA lineup got a chance to face a AAA pitcher. We got lucky not drawing Snell. He's probably 4 hit and 12 K us.

kwolf68 replied to Heads22's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Nothing this crappy organization does shocks me. Aardsma was recalled even though his era is +6 at Charlotte. What was the point of sending him down? He stunk in Chicago...was sent down for that....then he stunk at Charlotte....and was recalled. Yea, OK...Im so shocked this team is where it is. -
We have 2 hits through 5 innings. On pace for another 4 hitter tonight.
