Nasty. Inside and then that breaker on the outside. Nice setup and even better execution. s***, a relief pitcher who looks like he has a clue. Get em Booner.
-
Gooch is great going to right. He's a solid hitter and should be doing better than he has been.
-
Owens with a nice cut there.
-
LOL...Hawk just said "we can get 3 right back"...what are they going to do? Lineup Robbie Gould for a field goal? He's nuts...this team isn't getting 3 hits, let alone 3 runs in the next 5 outs.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 10:40 PM) Even DJ sounds like he's surrendering. I noticed that as well. Hell, DJ and Hawk have to watch this s*** every night. Eventually they get too dizy from spinning and have to accept reality. Sad thing is, if we do make any deals I am afraid no one will want any of these hitters we have. They'll want some of our Starting arms, the last segment of this team that actually makes Sox fans proud. The rest of the team is just horrid.

Thornton on meltdown alert. This is starting to get comical. I like Matt and he's a good pitcher, but he has developed the ailment most of our RPs have, its called suckitis.

Hardest hit ball all night. Keep reaching for that bullpen guys. Had Jose been struggling thats one thing, but Ive never seen this Yankee team with such pitiful swings tonight. The only reason we didn't turn two or three DPs is the balls have been hit so slow. Jose dominated this team tonight and we're going to take an L for it.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 10:29 PM) Good job by Contreras tonight...still not sure how he retires big league hitters. Unfortunately, Ozzie left him in one batter too long. Yea really...Cabrera smoked that ball to shortstop./sarcasm Jose completely controlled this lineup tonight...completely. If he'd have left him in to pitch to Abreau I'd have not minded considering our gascan bullpen.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 10:27 PM) Pretty bad effort by AJ to block that. Good grief....get Contreras out of the freaking game. Yea it was...he didn't move his body in front. Oh well...

The sad thing is, as brilliantly as Jose has pitched tonight we won't win this game, at best he'll get a ND. Wasting pitching performances like this is the new Sox MO

Alex Cintron may be one of the worst players in major league baseball.

Mike Musina actually looks used up, but is dealing 2-hit ball at our team.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 11:56 AM) I've just always thought of Gio as more of a #4 or 5 guys. There's nothing about his numbers, while repeating AA in a pitcher's park, that makes me think he's going to be a standout starter. If Danks can be a 2/3 and Gio can be a 4/5 though, we have the makings of a competitive staff. In truth, he should not be repeating AA ball. He should be pitching AAA ball right now.

The two mock drafts I saw didn't even have this guy projected in the first round. Im not necessarily saying its a bad pick, but it doesn't look like a good one.
-
The real steal is going to be Andrew Brackman. He fell because of 1) Injuries and 2) Boras. But the kid has 3/4 good pitches and is a big righty throwing in the mid to high 90s. The Yankees got a Top 10 talent at the bottom of the first round.

Joe Crede to 15 day DL, Josh Fields called up from AAA.
kwolf68 replied to marsh's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I hope Fields is ready, but after the Sweeney, Owens, Buckvich, Day, Wiki, Gonzo experiements I wouldn't be shocked to be counting the days before Crede is healthy and back in the lineup. For the record, Fields is a great kid. Met him at Richmond last year when the Knights played there...very humble, friendly, very polite...I have nothing but admiration for the guy and hope he works out. -
Podsednik to start minor league rehab assignment tomorrow

Im ready for Pods to come back, someone who can actually run. -
The Reason This Team is Bad, and Yes: It's Ozzie's Fault
kwolf68 replied to Gregory Pratt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
When you are relying on Alex Cintron, Rob Mackowiak, Jerry Owens as starters and a host of aging, slow-footed slumping power hitters, very little ability to run the bases and manufacture runs, combined with a bullpen that is in serious meltdown mode it's amazing to me this team isn't 15 below .500 Without some pretty good starting pitching we'd be well out of this thing. I don't think Whitey Herzog could get much more out of this team. It's laborious to watch and the talent is very one-dimensional. Our minors looks depleted (although Gio, Egg, Cunningham, Russell and maybe Getz hold some promise) and we are playing in a division with 3 wrecking crew teams. -
Who are some options for us at SS in 2008
kwolf68 replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
Juan Uribe deserves kudos for his defense, but id love to have some speed out of the SS position. Either that or hit better than .240 -
North vs South question for the ages... or at least 07

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 06:13 PM) Put the Sox in the NL Central and they win the division easily. Hell, the Royals would likely finish in the top 2 in the NL Central. No joke. It's a myth the White Sox would win this division easy. Why are they so much better than the Brewers? We have a deeper starting rotation, but Sheets/Capuano can hold their own with our top 2. Other than the starting pitching, I can't see where the Brewers would rank behind the White Sox. -
This lineup is pathetic. I think I want two of them to return next year.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 10:22 AM) Phew. That was a stupid idea to begin with. Agree. I don't even get it. We struggle against lefties, so we trade one of our better and a getting warmed up right-handed power hitter for a left-handed hitter with power numbers on the decline. What actually worries me is Williams deals one of the few remaining prospects we have left in our system for an aging, slow, free-agent-to-be under the idea we can win this thing. I hate to say it, but by the All Star break I either want to be squarely in the AL Central race or out of it totally. Until then I am rooting like hell for the team, but if the team continues to flounder then I'll start to think about potential deals to replinish our minor league system, get younger, and faster.
-
Rotoworld reported Kenny Williams has NO interest in making this trade. This was a horrible idea and I'm glad we can move on now.
-
This trade makes no sense. If we deal Dye, then it should be to bolster the system, add youth and speed. If we do this type of COSTLY sideways move I'd just as soon keep JD.

QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 04:17 PM) If I read Accardo's numbers right, lefties were hitting .098 off him and righties were hitting around .240... so Ozzie PHs Cintron for Uribe??!?!? Neither one of them are very good hitters, what difference does it make? Dude is throwing Uribe, Cintron, Owens, Mackowiak at the other teams. All of which should be situational/platoon players not guys we look to for a game winning base hit. I don't care who manages this team, it's not that good. Simple as that, just not a very skilled team overall.
