QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 11:00 PM) If these guys can't hit good pitching, we're in a lot of trouble. We can't afford to lose 10 of 12 games against C.C. and Santana this year. I agree, but right now Podsednik is our highest average hitter. That should tell you some guys (Thome, Dye) are off to slow starts. I still think if our pitching shows something (last two games have been promising) we'll be in there at the end.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 10:55 PM) K. I'm tired of seeing Aces At one time we had ... like 3 aces. No excuses, as one dude said man-up and get it done.
-
I've rarely said anything negative about the Anderson situation, but Erstad striking out twice in ugly fashion is testing my patience.
-
At least we're making Harden throw a lot of pithes in this inning.
-
QUOTE(TheOcho @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 09:38 PM) Ozzie did mention problems with the wife. That would suck. Ozzie mentioned Jose's personal problems? Not so sure I'd support Ozzie spouting off about Jose's personal problems, problems that are NONE OF OUR BUSINESS. I wish Jose the best.
-
Ozzie can't do anything here...the pitcher just isn't executing. Can't blame Ozzie for that...We should be able to count on Thornton to get through one stinking inning...if he fails at that, then its ON HIM, not the manager.
-
I'm a prancer, I'm a dancer...here is a thumb up your but if you called me a cancer. PODS RULES.

QUOTE(Shadows @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 04:11 PM) Its game 3 of the season, who cares they will come around.. If its like that by the end of this month, then yeah we got a problem Yea sure, but you'd hate to think our entire lineup may be due for an April slump...in this division that could be really bad. If we were in the NL, we could spend 2 months scuffling around.
-
Wow...we have two hitters in our entire lineup hitting over .222 (Uribe at .250 and Erstad at .300+). That is pretty pathetic.
-
QUOTE(Wanne @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 03:53 PM) In your best Bob Eucker voice..."that's all we got...is one goddamn hit?..." LOL "You can't say goddamn on the air" -- "Don't worry, nobody is listening."
-
Kudos to Nick...FINALLY a pitcher getting it done. He's done his job...definately future starter material.
-
QUOTE(Y2HH @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 03:27 PM) Meh on the Cubs and anything they do. Them winning or losing helps us not. No argument here. Since Joe Crede has been at bat for the last 25 minutes on gameday I had to surf around some.
-
on a comletely unrelated note, David Weathers gives my fantasy team a boost. Cubs go down.
-
gameday = suck
-
If Mark is out, then John Danks role in this team just got even more important.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 06:34 PM) I really think that having a speedy lead off man is an obsession for Ozzie and KW. Remember Ozzie's lust for Juan Pierre and players for his mold. Compared to Pods, Juan Pierre looks like Lou Brock at this point.
-
QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 06:03 PM) It would also help if Buehrle and tomorrow's other pitchers give up less than 12 or 8 runs DING DING DING...we have a winner. The Sox pitching doesn't look top shelf at this point. Buehrle looking good tomorrow will DO WONDERS for this team's psyche', not to mention the confidence of our fanbase. We have scored enough runs the last two games to win, but the pitching has now given up 20 runs in two games....THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE, not the complaining about Thome not coming up clutch in the 9th when he helped push us up to seven runs. Pitching = Championships....right now, it appears we don't have that, but there is time to get it turned around. I still like some of the talent.

Im at the point that I just don't know what to think...Ozzie is making choices like a high school coach. I lost all faith with the Anderson/Erstad situation. Anderson has OUTPLAYED Erstad this spring, he has been the BETTER PLAYER and what is the result? Erstad starts and Anderson is #25...ridiculous. I wouldn't expect anything any different from any other decisions Ozzie makes. Boone Logan, no matter if you like him or not, deserved to break with the team, the dude deserved it. Why even play spring training if it doesn't matter. Logan got people out, and that's what we need. The Anderson thing just kills me...the kid maybe gettting into the groove and he can do nothing to win a job...hell, I bet Anderson still doesn't start in CF if he hit .800 in the Spring...Im just disgusted with the entire situation right now.

Adam Russell traded for Sandy Alomar. j/k -
Here are some players to watch out for -Adam Loewen (Orioles pitcher) -Wes Helms (could be great value late) -Homer Bailey (Reds SP may not make splash right away, but stud potential) -Alex Rios (all know about him, but I've been seeing him go 9th or 10th in drafts. Absolute steal) -Josh Willingham (tremendous value potential for late in the draft) -Taylor Tankersley (injury has slowed his rise to Marlins closere, but he's the guy to watch here) -Jose Valverde' (I am so confident in him I ignored RPs until grabbing him in the 13th round as my first closer-I did add 3 others for depth just in case)

I love these folks saying the government has no business "sticking their nose in this deal.” On the contrary, the government should consider anything that hints of monopoly. There is NOTHING in the constitution about allowing the perpetuation of monopolistic practices. Further, some of the biggest whiners about government 'encroachment' will be the same ones blathering on about the virtues of a free-market economy. IT ISNT A FREE MARKET when one or two suppliers supply a majority of the product and I don’t care how many theoretical treatises by Von Mises or Friedman you spout off. In short, government is needed to make sure the free market doesn’t consume itself by eliminating competition, which is exactly what happened post-Civil War when government regulation was at an all-time low and even the Supreme Court gave ‘personhood’ to corporations. That silliness in the market and the obscene externalities that came with an unbridled market would eventually lead to Teddy Roosevelt’s oftentimes brilliant run as President where we finally got some freaking sanity in our government; finally, a government NOT of the corporations, but of the people. I’d like one of those again.
