Time to move on. Horrible performance by the D. I think they came out of the bye week thinking they were amazing. On the bright side, Trubisky is showing a lot more life.

Look on the bright side...last two times Bears lost in south beach they ended up playing in the Super Bowl

Mitchell showed confidence again today, just wish the coach had confidence in him to make a play in OT instead of settling for a low % field goal.

That TD drive in the second half was really  beautiful. Had a shaky QB and no run game, and he totally playcalled their way into a touchdown and also held the clock.

No doubt. I am really high on Nagy. I didn't know a damn thing about him before this year really, but man he's good. I also like his attitude and how he handles the media. He's calm, cool and collected. I see that same thing on the field. Put it this way, I don't think he'll be the reason we lose games (unlike the previous guy).

Take it that most of you are pessimistic about the Blackhawks this season?

Haha. My take is I have no earthly idea what to expect. Lets review the questions:

1-Number 1 issue is Crow, period. If he's out, then Ward comes in. Ward is a nice stop gap, 30 game guy, but his days as a horse netminder are done. If Crow is healthy you can add 15 points to the ledger

2-AGE. Has it caught up? Keith is 35, but still has wheels, Seabrook looked done last year, but reports are he worked out over the summer and is slimmer and trimmer, which should only help. I can't stomach watching him walked wide consistently again this year against the new-age speed demons of the NHL.

3-D-pairings. No idea. If Seabrook can return to form you have 2 guys in the top 4. After that it's a crap shoot. Gustaffson sucks in his own zone, Rutta shows promise, Manning is a high character guy set up as a third pairing, Forsling and Murphy are injured, Jokiharu is a 19 year old wet behind the ears prospect. Hillman? Who knows. They have more questions at defense than a calculus exam

4-Center/Faceoffs. Schmatlz looks to have Line 2-C locked up. He's a dynamic talent who can't win draws. Anisimov is a plodding talent who also can't win draws. Enter Kruger. He is back in Chicago and is MANDATORY to help on the PK. I also argue that Toews needs to BE REMOVED from the penalty kill. His game is a down low heavy game, he takes a lot of abuse. Pace him for goodness sake Coach. Limit his usage on the PK so he's more effective elsewhere

5-KIDS. Does Debrincat step up bigger this year, Kahun, Edjsell, Jokiharu, Highmore, Sikura, Hayden, Fortin are a bunch of names with various upside. Do 2 or 3 of those guys step up to be contributors? If so, the Hawks are looking way better. If not and they have to rely on 1 good scoring line again, long season awaits.

6-Return to Form. Saad/Seabrook/Toews. Seabrook discussed, but we HAVE to get 19 and 20 going, period. Another 50 pt year for Toews and another 30 point year for Saad and it's lights out. If they return to form the Hawks have two blistering lines. Line 3 is a work in progress, but reports are AA/Sikura/Edjsell are showing very well, which stands to be produce optimism.

The Hawks right now are NOWHERE near teams like Nashville for raw talent, but there is a enough veteran proven talent and young exciting kids that if they all round into form together the Hawks could make the playoffs. I don't see a long run, but playoffs are always a crap shoot anyway, so just getting there will be a great accomplishment.

Didn't watch the game but was shocked to see such lousy running numbers for the Bears, especially with so many guys missing from the Seattle D.  Just assumed they would run it down their throats.  Were they stacking the line, forcing the Bears to pass?

I didn't really notice a stacked box. The Bears o-line just didn't open up ANY holes.

Yes it was incredibly disappointing against a team that is in disarray right now. Bears get an even more dysfunctional team next week, I expect plenty of yards there.

  5. By far the best play Trubisky had last night is when he went back, turned left, turned right against a rush and then tossed a nice ball down field (to Cohen I think). You see a play like that and it tells you he has something. But mostly he's got a long ways to go. Was he better this game? I guess he made a couple more plays in crunch time against a much worse opponent at home. With this defense there is absolutely NO excuse for the Bears to not win 8 games.

This defense is fun, the front 7 is so dangerous.

I'm glad they beat an inferior team, but disappointed with Mitch,  that should have been a blow out but he kept Seattle alive.

Trubisky is averaging about 5 yards per attempt, only Bradford is worse. Gonna be a tough season unless QB drastically improves, because the defense can be special.

The defense is there, the conditioning isn’t there yet however. If they stay healthy, it looks like a real solid core.

We still are at the same place when the season started. It all comes down to Mitch. He has to continue to get better.

Agree. The run game was very disappointing tonight. We may not have 10 yards rushing against the Vikings at this rate.

Cutler gets alot of hate (and I wasn't a fan of his at all) but he was probably the best QB we've ever had in this franchise.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry at this statement. Cutler lacked the one main ingredient necessary for  QB, leadership. The dude was a total chump.

Sid Luckman is the greatest QB ever, he lead the Bears to 4 World Titles and it would have been more had the war not broken that team up. The Monsters of the Midway of the late 30s-40s is the greatest dynasty before the 60s Packers came into existence.

As far as I'm concerned McMahon doesn't count. Ive watched classic games he wasn't that good. He was a game manager when that is what they needed. He's on the Cutler level of QBs. Good enough to start but not much more. They've had one decent QB in 100 years of existence. It is a sick joke.

You may be right. I hold Jim McMahon in real low esteem for the way he divided the locker room in 1987 when Flutie came in. Ditka didn't help with his "these are the real Bears" shit either. The 1987 Bears were set to win it all and they had destroyed the defending champ Giants on opening night, but then chemistry issues killed that team.

  10. It's just not in the Bears blood. Think about this, since the 1920s they have had TWO quality Quarterbacks, Sid Luckman and Jim mcMahon and Mac was always injured. We gotta do it the hard way, with defense and running game. I mean they went to the Super Bowl with Rex freaking Grossman at QB. I suppose Harbaugh was average, but overall this franchise, in its 100 year history has had literally TWO top flight QBs.

There is zero reason that this game is as close as it is.  Our defense dominated.  The offense needs to do its part.

The offense is a laugh. Can't run it, and other than a couple nice throws a QB who really just doesn't look like he's ready for prime time yet. Missing guys all over the place.
