QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 10:24 PM) For the 100th time this season (not intended towards you daa), McCarthy doesn't have confidence in his offspeed stuff coming out of the bullpen. He's a "feel" pitcher, and all year he's said he doesn't like the way he stuff feels out of the pen. It's no surprise that his best outings have been when he goes 3 or 4 innings and can develop a rhythm. Totally agree. There are some guys cutout to be starters and some as relievers...McCarthy has been badly mis-managed this year. If our leaders thought he was not ready coming into this year, then he should have pitched for Charlotte. If they thought he was ready to face big league hitting (and based off the last two months of last year it seemed to be) then we could have held onto the talent we pissed away for the horrible Vazquez. We would have had Vizcanio, could have dealt El Duque for a prospect or middle relief help or a backup catcher (instead of good young arms we dealt) and would have also held onto one of the games best young CF prospects...

I think my goal now is to see Ryan Sweeney get his first major league at-bat. Have to give credit to the team for actually hanging around this long in a tough AL...with pitching as bad as ours its amazing we're not around .500
-
Right now, this team isn't better than the Kansas City Royals....much less Minnesota.
-
This season is done in my view... Liriano is due to pitch a minor league rehab start later this week...when he joins the Twins they will take control of the WC race. We have to be honest, the team isn't good enough this year. We are still 05 Champions.

QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 10:12 PM) If you put your DH in the field the pitcher has to hit. Damn that's right...I remember a couple plays like that over the years.
-
QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 10:10 PM) No, then you lose the DH. Why can't Gload just DH from the 8 hole and Sweeney, batting 4th would move to CF?
-
They will likely move Sweeney to the outfield. Even though he came in for Thome, he can still mvoe to the OF and remain in the same position. My guess is Gload will become the DH.

QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 10:04 PM) And the batboy and Ozzie's siblings and some of the wives ............. I didn't mention Javier or Freddy.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 10:02 PM) don't forget to include our manager and third base coach. yea thats a given...

...one night it is the hitting, the other night starting pitching, some nights middle relief, and other nights the closer.

White Sox vs. Royals......Goin for the Series

White Sox will need a major overhaul in the off-season...the pitching sucks. Kenny made the trades he thought would get us another ring this year, but its not going to happen...we are being done by .220 hitters, AAA players, and pitchers with +6 eras, losing to the likes of Tampa and KC, teams going nowhere. We are old, can't run, aren't smart, have a manager who seems to manage his pitchers differently depending on their birthplace. We are in a division competing with teams with some of the best young talent in baseball, much of it due to blossom next year with even Cleveland starting to look better. This team, as it stands now, has no chance to compete next year and is looking more and more like a 4th place team. We have the "names" to reload and its time to. This team is finished. I'm going camping, later. -
White Sox vs. Royals......Goin for the Series

Starting Garcia that inning and bringing in Cotts shows Ozzie has totally lost his mind. He pulled Buehrle quickly last night yet lets Garcia pitch this long tonight???? Very poor managing. -
Great stuff....

Mack was not brought in to platoon in CF, but to play all around the diamond giving multiple guys (not just Brian) time off... We dealt Rowand and we dealt the brilliant Chris Young because we thought we had a CF talent...so now that kid, that CF talent, has started to finally hit and is still playing great defense...WHY NOT JUST LET THE BOY PLAY? We win yesterday if our starters are in...I know that's conjecture, but reality says that pitching and DEFENSE wins the day...Im disgusted we put crappy defense on the field and expect mediocre pitching to pitch around it....we need brilliant defense, because our pitching is average...Brian Anderson should play EVERY SINGLE DAY.
-
We will never get Jake Peavy....No one would trade him. Although this would be a decent time to go after him with his record being down a bit. We need some nasty arms to compete with Det and Minn next year...Peavy is that type of talent we need, but Im not holding my breath.
-
Solid game. Brian Anderson made a play that may have saved the game and he also hit well...The kid should go from here on out barring matchups against Nolan Ryan and Bob Gibson. 4.5 out again...damnit...Tough one tomorrow....Freddy against a pretty solid Redmond....lets get em

QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 04:29 PM) Young with two doubles, a single, and five RBIs today from the leadoff spot. Yep, this will go down as one of the most disasterous trades Kenny Williams will have ever made for this team. We have all praised Kenny for dealing "prospects" who go on and do nothing...YOU HAD TO figure at some point one would pan out. You can't keep dealing players out of our Top 10 without one finally breaking through. Now our minors are just about exhausted, we have a couple pitchers who look old, another one (or two) that is wildly over-rated and competition in the AL Central loaded with filthy young arms. I believe this is our last run for a while unless we can re-stock with superb young arms.
-
Crap defense...What is it about pitching and defense? I guaranteed last night on post-game we would not sweep KC...I am often wrong, but hated being right about this one. Regroup tomorrow..

QUOTE(shoota @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 07:00 PM) Funny quote, but bad grammar. Using "they" or "them" to refer to a single person is incorrect usage. Ozzie should have said "he" instead of "they're". Something else that upsets me about grammar is my ignorance of where to put the period when quoting the final word in a sentence. Can someone explain the rules to me? Ozzie said, "I have a lot of fun coaching this team." "I have a lot of fun coaching this team," Ozzie said. I don't have a problem with the first part actually. If the quote would have been "He" then one would ask who? By saying "they", the implication is or can be everyone, which is reality. I understand your complaint however.
