  1. What a sore subject. 1994 is precisely why I walked away from baseball for a period of time. The 1994 Sox were a great team, it felt like they were also getting into a groove. Then the season gets canceled. Unreal. I came back when the Sox made it in 2000 and they were quickly dispatched in the playoffs, but I at least got the buzz back. A few years later 2005 happened, all was right in the world.
  2. Translation: This is what I hope happens with the white sox. In the end, who cares what some fool says on a message board. It will be decided soon enough.
  3. Needless to say 2020 is going to be an interesting year in Chicago for the Bears. I am NOT a fan of Trubisky in the least. Seems to be a good guy, but I think a below average QB. But they really have to give it one more go. Cutting bait on Trubisky would amount to Pace admitting he made one of the greatest draft day blunders in Bears history. The fact is he has to ride out the storm with this QB and hope beyond hope Trubisky can figure it. That's the ONLY option for Pace. If it goes well then Pace can peacock all around Halas Hall. If he flames out then it's time to scare up a few U-Haul trucks. The Bears fail to make the playoffs next year with anything resembling the shambles of an offense they had this past year and a whole bunch of pink slips will be delivered. However, you have to find a competent backup to stick in there if Trubisky falters. The window on this defense is open to make a great run.
  4. Where do you see their salary? I thought Betences would have been a heck of a pickup.
  5. Bullpen is my choice to tidy up now.
  6. Lets just sign Floyd Bannister and get ugly.
  7. Walker IS a very good hitter. How much his power plays is the big thing as he projects on an OF corner, though he has played some CF. In fact some scouting services thought his hit tool was bested by only Madrigal in his draft class.
  8. Is it possible this is a perfect time to buy low on Mazara? He was a top prospect at one time, yes higher regarded than Steele (who I do really like). Dunno, but buying low sometimes is a good deal. If you think the guy just sucks that's fine, but I am not convinced he does. Obviously, I wouldn't want to trade Steele and Stiever, that's a massive overpay, but one may be fair and then a lottery ticket type.
  9. If the Sox get Joc who platoons with him? He is wretched against same handed pitchers. I'd take him, but hope the Sox don't give up someone like A-Bum for him either.
  10. Madbum or Ryu, veteran lefty added to a young righty heavy rotation. I'd be good with either. Sox have a plethora of young pitchers, need a workhorse leader in the rotation. MadBum would maybe be rejuvenated in Chicago. The dude is a pure winner, even if the skill has regressed some. That said, 100 MILLION? Dunno about that.
  11. Bundy is a great buy low candidate, still young with a very good arm, buried in Siberia for years. A perfect change of scenary guy and the Angels gave up nothing but spare parts to get him. A low risk play by the Angels. If they do land Cole or Stras a rotation of Cole/Stars, Heaney, Ohtani, Canning and Bundy is potentially a very impressive lot. It's easy to "figure out" that Gerritt Cole is good, what wins big is finding those diamonds in the rough, late bloomers, change of scenary types. If I were an Angels fan I'd have NOTHING to complain about with this move, UNLESS it was the consolation prize to Cole or Stras then yea I'd be bumming.
  12. Mitch is done. I bet he starts no more than 15 more games in his NFL career. He's terrible, can't read defense, no instincts, nothing. Whoever the scouts are who suggested this guy should be gone. total joke
  13. Haha really. Luckman was about it. The Punky QB was credible for literally a single year, Kramer was a nice QB in an era of trash, since then complete laughing gas, Rex, Cade, Cut, and now Mitchy poo.
  14. Bears history, trash quarterbacks for most of the long history and Trubisky is another in the long line of losers.
  15. Also, if you look at enough Bobby Douglas film, you will find him make plays that are Mahomes like. Seriously. But 98% of it was just terrible.
  16. Every now and then Gary Huff made a hell of a throw.
  17. If true he needs to be terminated. Scouts are paid for a reason. Either listen to the people paid to judge talent or not. NONE of the 3 QBs were projected to go top 3. NONE. Mahome, in some lists was even considered a lower 1st, which is just insane. This is the stupidity of judging a kid ONLY BECAUSE of the system he played. Texas Tech made a lot of average QBs put up a ton of yards, but NONE could throw the ball like Mahomes. An objective viewing of Mahomes talent would have told them that. In the end, it's over. The Bears have what they have. And as the Bears losses continue to pile up, that pick goes higher and higher. Right into the hands of John gruden.
  18. Douglas was certainly not a good QB, but the late 60s and early 70s Bears were some of the worst teams in history, they were awful. Only a wrecked Dick Butkus and Doug Buffone were NFL quality back then. So who knows what Douglas would have done had he been in say ... Cincinnati working with Bill Walsh. I figure Walsh either turns him into something or he's delivering mail by camp. The Bears? Use him and develop him into a 46% passer. LOL
  19. Reading the reviews of these 3 QBs is disgusting. It's like they were TRYING to find holes in Watson and Mahomes while accentuating the positives in Trubisky. Just a very sad situation on every level. The Bears as a franchise have been an absolute JOKE for QBs. What have we had all time? ONE great one: Sid Luckman ONE SOLID/OK QBs: Jim McMahon THREE SERVICEABLE: Jim Harbaugh, Erik Kramer, George Blanda The rest have been a collection of mental cases (Cutler), outright scrubs (McNown, Grossman), running backs (Bobby Douglas), guys who didn't need to pass (Wade), players plucked in an expanion draft (Huff) and guys who couldn't even do much with Walter in the backfield (Evans, Phipps, Avellini). Yep, it's a real who's who of suckage for the Bears.
  20. Which is bizarre and for those who had Mahomes ahead of him THOSE GUYS should be listened to. Mahomes dazzled at Texas Tech for multiple years. ONLY THING I can figure is it seemed everyone put up numbers in Tex Tech's offense so Mahomnes got downgraded, because if Graham Harrell can put up big stats, then so what? But unlike the other guys before him (to include Cliff Kingsbury), Mahomes DID NOT have a pop gun arm, he has a cannon. The offense is very sophisticated so you have to have the smarts. The hilarious thing is when I go back and read draft previews everyone admits Mahomes talent, but almost always speak of him more as a "project". While one season wonder Trubisky is a more proven lock? I totally think that is poor analysis and has more to do with the schools the guys went to. The other nugget is the obscene idea to trade multiple picks to move up one spot...FOR THIS GUY? Mike Ditka trading an entire draft for Rickey Williams eventually lead to his demise. I fear the same could happen here. I just don't see a very good QB in this guy. His lack of pocket presence, ability to read defenses and just bad instincts is one thing, but missing simple NFL throws so consistently is just not acceptable. Ryan Pace so screwed up that draft. In fact, there was debate if ANY OF THOSE QB would even be Top 10, let alone Top 5. I am reading previews right now of the first one (yes Trubiskey) going #13. Hilarious.
  21. Blackhawks just don't look like that great a team, the Bears fading and the Sox in rebuild. Gonna be a cold winter. Disclaimer: I do like the Hawks team, not ready to bail on them as they have lots of new faces.
  22. I really believe he is. They just missed on Trubisky. It was a very bad draft pick and race had nothing to do with it. At least I hope that's the case. The Bears did have Vince Evans as QB at one time.
  23. No way to know. All I am going by is what I saw, the view, the stats. They got run over by a mediocre football team. Time to regroup from this.
