  1. OK-I am on Fantrax and ProBoards. Fantrax looks pretty good actually. We will draft on the proboards site and you will add our players to the Fantrax site correct?
  2. QUOTE (Moncada @ Jan 10, 2018 -> 04:44 PM) If the draft is moving along quickly we might pause and let you repick, otherwise you can repick as soon as your able. Basically it will be up to my discretion. The best thing to do for the minor and major league draft is to look up the player you want to draft and make sure they are eligible before you make your post. Yes indeed. I will get my list together and make sure that issue isn't a problem for me, at least. I suspect with this crowd the MINOR League draft may be as much fun as the Major League draft. Lookin' forward to it.
  3. QUOTE (Moncada @ Jan 10, 2018 -> 03:00 PM) No online interface. You can use the player section on fantrax to find players and add them, but to official make you selection you will have to post in the thread we will be using specifically for the draft. Did you get the email I sent to everyone last night? Yes I got the email, but I have yet to respond as my choice. I'll do that now. So lets say someone "accidentally" drafts a player onto their Minor League roster who has played 1 game? Obviously that pick isn't valid. I suppose the person has within his 6 hour window to "fix" the pick
  4. QUOTE (Moncada @ Jan 10, 2018 -> 11:56 AM) I'll try and clear this up but hopefully this helps. We will do 2 drafts. One for major league players and one for "prospects"/ minor league players. Players eligible for the major league draft are any player who has played at least 1 game in the majors. Special exception for this year will be Otani. Minor league players that have played in the majors can only be taken in the major league draft. If they don't break camp with their big league team then you can move them to your minor leagues on fantrax (you would have to drop a player you already had on the minor league roster to maintain a legal roster (max 15 minor league players). For example, Victor Robles can only be drafted in the major league draft. He will have to be one of your major league players, however if he does not break camp with the team he can be moved to you minor leagues on fantrax until he comes back up. Players eligible for the minor league/prospect draft are any player who has not played a single game in the majors, any player signed with a team (even if they have not made their minor league debut). For example Kopech can only be drafted in the minor league/prospect draft. He will be on your minor league roster to begin the year. If he breaks camp with the team it is the owners option if he moves him to the major league roster and starts playing him (would require dropping a major league player to maintain a legal roster of 25 players) 2 special notes 1. If a minor leaguer makes his debut you do not need to add him at any point this year, but he must be on your major league roster by the following season. 2. If a player has played in the majors but is in the minors (example Robles) when he does get called up he must be moved to your major league roster within 2 weeks or you will lose him to waivers. OK got it. Kinda fun....Will we be expected to know if a minor leaguer has had a cup of coffee? Or will the respective drafts only include players eligible for that draft (not sure if we're selecting players from some online interface, or do we just post...."With the #1 pick in this draft I take XYZ"
  5. Still a little fuzzy about MAJOR League v MINOR league rosters. Are we drafting all these players at the same draft? If the draft is prior to the season, there is no way to tell if some players are MAJOR or MINOR leagues. I assume we'd have to adjust after the fact. As example, say someone drafts Michael Kopech onto their MINOR league roster and he makes the team. At that point he'd have to be moved to the MAJOR league roster and a player on the MAJOR league roster would have to be cut, put on IR if injured or sent to the MINOR league roster if that player for some reason got demoted. Am I reading this right?
  6. Just to confirm I'll do this. You already sent me an IM and Ive checked out the rules. No need to add me again and if you need my email i can provide.
  7. QUOTE (Moncada @ Jan 2, 2018 -> 11:21 PM) Lol you might be the most prepared then. Good so we're all screwed then? LOL
  8. QUOTE (Moncada @ Jan 2, 2018 -> 11:02 PM) Yes you would keep your players every year and there would just be a "new player draft" each year for minor league players WOW....so we'd be drafting minor leaguers? Basically our own prospects. I love that idea. With me finishing up post graduate schooling and retiring as hockey coach of my younger son's team Ill have some time to build the necessary logarithms and detailed analysis to be somewhat competent in this.
  9. So basically lots of ???????? I still think things could be exciting. Hell, I actually paid more attention to the Sox last year than the previous couple. 2005 seems like 30 years ago
  10. Hey I'd be interested, but when you say "Dynasty League" do you imply that we keep players from year to year? Not sure what a Dynasty league means otherwise.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 2, 2018 -> 02:41 PM) I really can't believe that Hue Jackson is still the HC. I know it. The guy has thrown his team under the bus all season, rarely took accountability, concocted a mind boggling dumbass game plan week to week making a concerted effort to NOT get the ball to their best players on a week to week basis (in 10 games this year, Duke Johnson got the ball fewer than 10 times). The way he handled the young QB (who I honestly don't think is that good) was a travesty. The guy was an absolute mess, that franchise is a mess, probably 1 of the very few clearly with worse ownership than the Bears.
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 2, 2018 -> 01:54 PM) Defillipo was the OC for the Browns in 2015, let go when Mike Pettine was fired. Think he was OC when Manziel was there. Bill Walsh himself wouldn't have gotten anything from that loser.
  13. Pace gets a shot because he has drafted some outstanding young players the last two years: Whitehair, Howard, Tarik, Shaheen, Jackson, Carson to name a few. Need Floyd to develop and Trubiskey to be a franchise guy, but after Pace's lackluster 2015 draft class where he really only got one good player, he has landed some players to build around. That said he has made his share of gaffs as well....he needs a killer draft and off-season, starting with nailing down a great coach. I'd be a John Fox fan if the NFL would dump instant replay. LOL
  14. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jan 1, 2018 -> 01:32 PM) Colts job and its attractiveness is completely tied into one shoulder. Spot on
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 1, 2018 -> 01:09 PM) Why is giants such a good job again? Like Chicago...big market, great tradition, loyal fan base.... NOT like Chicago....not owned by McCaskeys
  16. Bears request permission to talk to Carolina DC Wilks, is this a Rooney rule thing? Or legit interest? Bears probably at best "third best" coaching opening after Giants and possibly Colts (assuming Luck is healthy). This is the Bears here, nothing they do would surprise me. As far as receivers to take a flier on in free agency here are my targets Donte Moncrief, Paul Richardson, and any one of the Cardinals receivers would be interesting and possibly cost effective. And of course the RETURN of Kevin White. LOL. Amazing how fragile he is, but it's not like the Bears as a team don't spend an inordinate amount of time in the trainers room.
  17. Awesome. I love these trips down memory lane....seems we're reliving the lost 2006 season. Can't wait to discuss the poor base running by Jerry Dybzinksi in 1983 and if Hoyt should have come back for game 4 (NO, LaRussa made the right call, Burns pitched an absolute masterpiece that the Sox offense farked up....shoulda been a 1-0 Game 4 win and then Hoyt beats MacGregor in Game 5 and Sox win the 83 World Series....at least that's how I see it in my mind.
  18. This rumor makes absolutely no sense. I'd love Manny, but only when the Sox are ready to compete. They have a plan and offering a package of some of our top prospects (which is exactly what the Orioles will want) for a single hitter makes no sense. The Sox literally have a bunch of unknowns heading for the rotation, some awesome young arms, but still unknowns. You get Manny when you are pretty confident that you're ready to compete. This deal simply makes NO SENSE, which leads me to believe would Hahn be talking to the Orioles as a proxie for another team (Yankees) who he'd flip Manny over to? Trade off good prospects to Os for Manny, get great ones from a team who should be able to pay for Manny (Yankees) and proceed with the current model? The Sox talent is down in the farm, SOME of those kids are gonna make it, SOME will not. If we deplete those numbers the chances of the Sox being a very poor team (even with Manny) goes up. Sox rotation is going to be what? Gio and Lopez right now headline it, but they are still developing especially concerning the number of innings forced to pitch. Then you have what...Shields as your next man up? Fulmer and Covey are in the mix. Who knows there. Eventually Rodon and Kopech may well form the top end of the rotation, but Rodon is out half the year and Kopech may not be quite ready. I think Alec Hansen, if the Sox can get his mechanics more consistent could be a dominant pitcher in time, Cease and Dunning also nice looking arms. But nothing set in stone, NOTHING. WAY too many questions.
  19. Agree I don't think they pick Guerrero either. He was promising prior to the last couple years, I guess the Sox didn't see enough in AA to think he can become an effective ML pitcher, even in relief role, although he did progress somewhat between 2016 and 2017. All things equal I'd like to keep him and see...likely won't amount to anything, but I wouldn't just give him away either. Perhaps Hahn has eyes on someone else (Burdi??? lets go). Will see....
  20. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 05:46 PM) Can you pick your own guy? I think so.
  21. QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 05:23 PM) I really want Nestor Cortes with our first selection and then pick Jordan Guerrero with our second and send him back to the minors. You really think this guy has any upside? Middling prospect I thought. I guess he could become a lefty specialist. I was looking at Nick Burdi, despite the injury. Ditto on Guerrero!!!
  22. Nick Burdi, Twins spec, available in Thursdays Rule V draft. Out half of next year with TJS, but certainly a good arm.
  23. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 10:58 AM) Seriously. Super boring meetings so far. Gives them more time to talk about the Yankees.
