QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 10:08 PM) At least we didn't lose any ground to the Tigers tonight. If we keep winning 5 out of every 6, we'll still win this division going away. LMAO...the Sox will NOT keep winning every 5 out of every 6, no team does. The White Sox will NOT win this division "going away"...if they win it, it will be a very tight race and will require excellent overall baseball against good teams...beating up on the Twins and Orioles does not make for sporting lofty predictions.
-
Team is kinda fun to watch again...trouble is we're still possibly 5 out and making up that ground is going to be very difficult.
-
This is still a sub .500 team no matter how wonderful it was beating a hapless Twins team...beating them, even in their sorry state, was still good since we seem to NEVER beat them. Still, this team has lost more than it was won and I am not confident they will do anything else other than mutter to 77-80 wins this year, 6 games out of the race. If they hope to finish first in the division, the first order of business is getting over .500...Jake Peavy's start yesterday was encouraging, but the Twins have what? ... 4 or 5 actual big league hitters? It's a really terrible team, but Jake's breaking stuff was biting hard and I bet he'd have done well against most people. So if you can get big time starts from Peavy....that's another arm in the mix. And I still think we have the best pitching in this division...so ANYTHING can happen, but the doubts remain until they actually pass the first hurdle...that amazing dash to .500

LOL at this thread. Booing is causing the team to stink. Explain the Cubs then. All cheers...no wins.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 06:37 PM) Morel has gotten more of a pass because he's a rookie, he's good defensively, he's worked his ass off, and because he's not getting paid 8 digits a year. Simple, no? This. Unless someone is cloning Mike Schmidt in their basement somewhere, maybe we could allow some of our young guys to develop instead of b****ing about them all the time. If the 'seasoned veterans' were doing anything worth talking about then we wouldn't need to rip on the 9th hitter on our team.

Poor Ozzie getting called out like that. Welcome to the big leagues...coaches and managers get called out all the time by sportscasters. If you don't want it to happen, find a new job.

Rios actually thinks he can improve his hitting stance

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 11:06 AM) Or good sign of some postiive/PR "spin" to get the fans off his back at least a little bit. We're past Swisher/Wise point now already with this situation. This. The way Rios plays the game won't be overshadowed by this. I'll never trust that bum again. Would love for him to get hot and maybe move him in the off-season. He's a loser. -
Adam Dunn Makes New York Times Front Page

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 12:32 PM) The one thing I will miss about Ozzie is lines like the following: Yes I also like Ozzie's forthright honesty on things...and this is an example. However, how many games has Dunn actually played in the field? Probably not many and thus the sample size is so small that the argument Ozzie makes is not relevant. -
The Rios stance is urban legend. You can hit with that or any number of other funky stances. Sure Sure, you wouldn't really teach a young player to hit like Rios does, but the problem with Rios isn't he lacks talent or has a bad stance, the problem with him is he is a pile of goo.

Big changes are hopefully forthcoming. A mass exodus must ensue...time for Ozzie and his frolicking jesters to be shuttled out of town along with Alex Rios. I am still torn on Kenny Williams. If he is willing to run a clever, sustainable franchise from within and quit it with this baseball collecting card mentality I'd possible like to see what he can do with a tighter budget and more emphasis on organizational development and low risk/high reward type talent. If he wants to keep ransacking our minor leagues to build an overpaid sub .500 team then he can hit the bricks too.

Adam Dunn Makes New York Times Front Page

Dunn is battling, showing resolve. I am really irked he has had such a bad year and it has aided the Sox failures this year, but the guy cares, is trying, is working. Considering we have a steamy pile of goo wearing #51, I'll take Dunn's refreshing stand-up attitude. Still, him ending up with fewer than 20 homers is mind boggling. -
Ozzie throws Lillibridge under the bus, spares Rios

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 12:47 PM) How do his apologists defend him in this situation? I do not know dude. You can search these boards...until very recently I have NOT BEEN AN OZZIE basher. I've let go of his childish antics, his idiocy, his arrogance, his general foolishness because I thought he was a capable manager and he did bring us a World Series. However, his handling of Rios...and then publicly bashing another player just is mind-boggling. A player who just messes up deserves no public scorn from his manager. A player who plays like he doesn't give a chit? Deserves it. I have slowly gone from big Ozzie supporter to total disdain for the guy. I'm tired of him ... the Rios thing is the last straw. I am embarrassed that such a piece of crap is still taking starts for our team. And I totally blame Ozzie. -

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 12:44 PM) He even got the OK from Kenny that he didn't have to play his highest paid players yet continues to trot Rios out there. That's inexcusable. Whether Rios was making a zillion dollars a year or was working for free on prison furlough, under NO circumstances should he have played in at least the next innings or the next game(s) after his sickening play against Boston. The NUMBER ONE thing we teach kids at TEE BALL level is...you bust your tail. You try. You care.... If you can't do those things, play another sport. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 12:41 PM) Come on. his pets. The players who seemingly can do no wrong...they stink stink stink yet they start start start. It is unconscionable Alex Rios has missed NO INNINGS since his sickening play against Boston. NOT ONE SINGLE INNING....I don't care if Randy Johnson starts...you demand a certain type of play on the field. If you don't get it from certain players, they sit. Not in Ozzie's world.

QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 11:59 AM) Yes Ozzie beat up on Brent the one who beat out that play at 1st because he ran his butt off. Continue to trot the black hole out in CF. He gives way more effort than Brent on every play. Ozzie has a double standard. Further evidence that he is garbage as a manager. Bashing a cheap paid utility player who at least gives effort....yet reward a trifling prima dona with start after start after start. IT. MAKES. NO. SENSE. But it's Ozzie's world....one void of logic. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 12:36 PM) I believe Oney stands alone in his idiocy. Ozzie Guillen, Jr. isn't all bad, while Ozzie himself, despite being somewhat of a nincompoop, is incredibly enjoyable. I just wish he made better managerial decisions. Ozzie is a punk. calling out the fans during the 94 strike...and bragging about his wealth (done it numerous times)...his defensive tirades after his butt buddies roll out another hapless and sad performance, etc., etc. Papa Ozzie is a joke. I know little of Ozzie Jr...but I can't imagine the acorn falls that far from the tree. However, since I lack knowledge on the Junior Ozzie I'll refrain from painting him with the same brush, but... Ozzie and Oney are idiots.
-
I am no fan of KW, but Ozzie brings shame and embarrassment onto the White Sox. His handling of Alex Rios was the final straw for me...I'm finished with this joker.

Maybe the 'stench of piss' comment was out of line, but I've seen people like this before. I'm all for giving people a fair shake, but the Gullens have NO CLASS, NONE, ZERO, ZILCH...their sense of entitlement and their mode of arrogance is just breathtaking. It's one thing for Ozzie to brag about his wealth, which is categorically pathetic, but for his son to act like just as big of an ass tells me the issues are endemic to the entire family. But I'll still say my SOP comment could have also been handled better. My point about the SOP is they are wealthy now, but they are still rednecks (redneck doesn't have to be Southern White either).
-
The Guillens are rednecks. They are people who came from nothing and got rich but don't know how to handle it and the stench of piss still stays with them.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 05:17 PM) Do we have anyone left on the bench? Damn...De Aza is still available. Darn...I wanted to see a pitcher hit with the tie run on base.

QUOTE (Paulstar @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 05:16 PM) Bard was nasty, but let's get real here. Beckham struggles to hit most fastballs. ...dude is 2 years out of the draft. The last players I want to dump are guys who work hard, play the game the right way, are talented with excellent upside. He is young and still learning and is still hitting for a better average than 3 or 4 other guys in our lineup. We should worry about those guys before Beckham.
-
LMAO...pitcher due up 4th in bottom of 9th. Is there anyone left to pinch hit? Ozzie should submit himself for drug testing before tomorrow's game.
