Just cut that m********...he's a piece of crap. Stinking piece of trash. I'm sick of that bum doing this. Most disgusting player to ever wear this uniform. I hate him so much. You play the game with respect you jackass...if not, then get the fook out.

Hit the baseball please. Nice job by Jason Frasor in his debut...excellent job pitching.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 02:28 PM) Stewart and bullpen would replace Peavy. Huh? Much as JP has struggled, Stewart has no chance of matching even the middling performance he has given thus far. Zach Stewart belongs NOWHERE near ANY rotation at this point.

QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 01:39 PM) Yawn. Hes getting very lucky and has probably faced the vaunted athletics and angels lineups a few times. Fister and betemit are mediocre players who probably won't help much. Detroit still has a pedestrian rotation and a terrible pen. He's getting very lucky? I should have just stopped reading right there. How the hell does a player with a close to 3 era in a full year of starts GET LUCKY...oh you mean because he's 3-12 playing for the craptastic Mariners. Yea, he's lucky to have that many wins. Hell, looks to be like the dude is UNLUCKY. In ONLY 3 starts this year has he not gone 6 innings. His record blows, but he has a sparkling ERA. Yea playing in the AL West is really easy, not anything like playing in that brutal AL Central. For a back of the end rotation guy this was a good move for Detroit...Kuroda didn't want to goto Detroit and they don't have the piece to get Ubaldo. Fister isn't the next Tom Seaver I agree, but the Tiggers needed to do something to beef up the back end of that rotation...no one else is available for them.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 02:18 PM) He allowed 23 baserunners in 9.2 IP in his 2 outings against DET and ATL after his big league debut vs Baltimore. Overall he had a 1.86 WHIP before being demoted. Stewart is NOT a starting pitcher in the bigs at this point. AT BEST he's another useful arm in the bullpen in middle relief. This guy does not have good secondary stuff and his fastball isn't good enough for him to be a one-pitch pitcher. He needs work, it's laughable to think he could be installed into our rotation as a replacement for Danks.

Tigers get Fister. He's a pretty good get for them.

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 01:16 PM) Danks, Thornton and Rios for Holland, Young and a pitching prospect? I'd maybe do that if the pitching prospect was top shelf type prospect. If we did make that trade, even with Young, we're probably not gonna win the division. Holland is terrific, but isn't as consistent yet as Danks...the pitching prospect no matter how good is a wildcard and we'd take a lefty out our pen. Our team SHORT term would not be as good. Long term it could be a major win. Not sure you take this particular gamble with the division on the table.
-
Danks + Thornton...for what? That would cost them Holland ++ Thornton for Holland isn't gonna happen. The Rangers aren't that stupid.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 04:31 PM) Well, is the 12 inch sub cheaper than getting two 6 inch subs? LOL. I actually thought of that after he said it and I laughed and I wanted to make sure, same price. Dude, when the lady said you could get two 6 inch subs and he responded with "what do you mean", I knew we had the real thing with this guy. The bottom line is -based on the conversation between him and the cook- price consideration was the last thing on his mind.
-
Since things have gotten really funny in here...I figured I'd pass on a little story you guys may like. I just had to post it somewhere: I was at Sheetz (gas station/store) earlier today getting some lunch...And there was some guy there ordering a sub/s. They had big signs showing different types of 6 inch subs and 12 inch subs. I'm standing there and the guy asks the cook/server could he get a 12 inch sub and make each half different. I nearly asked for his autograph.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 04:23 PM) wolf, is that sarcasm? LOL.

Isn't Chone one of the guys Kenny really liked at one time? Sale and Mitchell for Figgins. Get it done Kenny.

Scoreboard watching on one thread...trade rumor watching on another...its getting that time.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 04:05 PM) If we included no cash, hell yes. I would trade Rios for a couple porta-johns.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 03:59 PM) He has to know what he's working with. If he has to do a full out rebuild, it makes no sense to have Dunn's contract and thus would have to trade it along with dumping anyone else not named Konerko or Buehrle. If he does a "re-tooling" he can keep it and wait for Dunn to remember how to hit again. I don't see the issue really. The issue is (much as I hate to say it) the fact the Sox are only 3.5 games out of first place. So 'retooling' makes sense...get rid of some garbage (Rios), move a piece for enhanced organization depth/talent (TCQ), KEEP the starting pitchers and go for it still. I think in a 'retool' Dunn does NOT get moved. A retool and 'go for it' this year means we wait on Dunn and hope he can provide help in the last two months. Dunn is just not movable. No one is ready to replace him, unless we were to keep Quentin then DV could capably hit 160 for the final 2 months. Dunn has to go if we go rebuild mode and I don't see a White Flag 2 happening. Not with Williams in town.
-
QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 03:54 PM) Difference between dangle & dump salary. If the rumor was "KW tries to get any team to take Dunn's contract" I'd be worried. I think you're reading way too much into that. He can't truly "rebuild" with all of those contracts so I imagine he has to at least see what he can get. I'm fine with that, but is that what we're looking at here? A full scale rebuild? When has KW ever done that? I for one doubt that's what is going on...it looks to me like KW has buyers remorse. He bought a car and it never starts so he wants to return it, but the dealership has cashed the check and closed the doors. Rios is the one we need to dump. Even before Dunn. Much as Dunn has sucked, I do believe he actually CARES.
-
QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 03:42 PM) So you believe Dunn, after 8+ years of steady production and at the age of 31 will never hit again? Then why is Kenny trying to move him? If Kenny THINKS he will actually become productive hitter again then why dangled him when his value is at the most absurdly low? This isn't about what I think...it's what the hell is Williams doing. He goes all out to get Dunn...tried to trade for him last year, finally bags him as a f-agent then watches Dunn look like a complete waste for four months of baseball and then gets the grand idea to DANGLE HIM.... I've seen more clever shenanigans in a hack fantasy league.
-
QUOTE (The '05 Sound @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 03:39 PM) You just hope KW doesnt blow this opportunity, which with him is highly likely. I have absolutely no hope Kenny will do anything to help to max the opportunity, not unless we can clone Kenny and put the clone in charge of another org, then we could trade one of our overpaid, aging, overrated slugs for 2 or 3 excellent prospects.
-
LOL...hey guys, here is a guy who hits .160, can NOT hit left handers at all, nor can he play any field positions. But none of that is a problem, because he is making more money than most third world nations. Line up now...give me your best offer... Kenny is really starting to look foolish. He obtains a bunch of aging, overrated, overpaid, and generally useless hacks and then tries to pawn them off on someone else. Good luck moving this guy KW. Maybe someone would take him if you promised to never call them again with another boneheaded offer. Oh, unless your asking FOR a player like Dunn for a couple nice pitching prospects, then it's ok to call.

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 03:28 PM) I love Danks....but I'd trade him in a heartbeat for the right package of players. Something like Gardner, Banuelos, Romine and another mid level spect, no mid level spect if they take Rios back (though we would still be on the hook for most of his $$). You then have two of your OF spots with young cheap guys in Viciedo and Gardner, you have your true lead off man in Gardner, and you have Banuelos who is probably ready for the rotation in 2013. Romine would be your C of the future and would also likely be ready in 13. This team could be remade into a bunch of young guys surrounding a couple vets (Dunn and PK) by 2013 This is a trade I could consider. In fact, I like the scenario where Rios is included. That guy is one of the biggest bums who has ever worn Sox colors.

QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 03:16 PM) It would look bad, but if the Sox truly know that Danks will be gone after 1.5 years, getting a king's ransom for him might not be a bad idea. I like Danks a lot, but this team has had me so frustrated and ready for change that I'm open any moves that make the team better. I feel you here, but Danks is one of those guys you build around. Just his tenacity on the mount, his grit, his talent...he's a lot like Mark that way. Hell, much as I am down on Peavy, he has "it", that warrior mentality...I HATE giving up guys like this. I think you build with them, not build by moving them. We need to be doing anything to get rid of the losers on this team (Rios) while securing our studs to play a part in this team winning again.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 03:10 PM) Kenny's going to lose a lot of cred if he starts trying to dangle Adam Dunn. However, MLBTradeRumors is complete trash. I agree. He'd look like a fool...sign a guy to a fat contract, he hits .160 and then try to trade him. I do imagine the return for Dunn would be not much more than a few practice balls and a pitch back machine.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 03:01 PM) I wouldnt count on Danks being traded. I sure hope not. He's a great fit on any staff...a bulldog, his numbers are always excellent, though it seems his run support always sucks. Normally I don't give a flip about rumors and tweets, they are just fun to talk about, but when Ken Rosenthal speaks I get worried.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 02:56 PM) I would say Danks is being asked about, but not dangled. As a baseball fan I love this time of the year, but seeing this thread and Rosenthal (who knows his stuff) tweet has me thinking it's time to head to the liquor store. You WIN with guys like Danks. I am literally sick to my stomach he's being mentioned here. Jackson, had to be done...dumped a tree stump in the process. Got RP help for this year and good arm for down road. Thornton? Sure...we're safe in the pen for now and I think now may be the time to move him. I get it....I even get it with TCQ...love the guy, don't really wanna move him, but the timing may be right and maybe we can start to right some wrongs with that deal. But trading John Danks? I aint seeing this one.
