QUOTE (Real @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 02:41 PM) Just curious, what kind of value do you think Danks has? He's not gonna pull a Sabathia/Lee/Halladay return of talent, at least I wouldn't bet on it I have no idea what kind of value he has on the open market. However, you don't trade him just to trade him in an 'equal value' deal...what's the point? Just to say we traded him? That we're doing something? I guess my overall point is I don't want Danks moved at all. I believe you win with guys like that. He has the moxie and talent to pitch in any situation against any team at any time and give us a great game. The only way I would even entertain the thought of moving him is if someone is desperate and will 'overpay'... Then again, if the Yankees are willing to 'pay' us with Gardner and their 3 best prospects, by definition that sets Danks value. There are many cases of overpaying for a player in trade...and John Danks is example exhibit A...if a team doesn't want to 'overpay' then fok them, we'll keep the talented young lefty for ourselves. Asinine to even be considering trading JD anyway...

A trade of Danks should being no less than an absolute buffet of prospects, top prospects, with at least a couple major league ready. Danks is a bulldog, great pitcher, young, durable, can win big games...what in the hell would we want to move him for? For NOTHING less than a pure overpayment. NOTHING LESS.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 12:11 PM) You dont build around a guy who's career high in games played is 131. He's injured constantly and is inconsistent offensively. He's exactly the type of guy you sell high. Ding. CQ could be a piece to really start to rebuild this sagging franchise no matter where they are in the standings of a crummy division.

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
kwolf68 replied to macsandz's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Not a big fan of Stewart's secondary pitches from what I saw. But he does have a very nice fastball. If they can tune him up and improve his off-speed stuff he could be a viable candidate for the rotation. In the least, he has a big league arm, makeup, and should fit into the Sox staff in some capacity. Personally, he looks like a setup guy to me. -
A debacle of epic proportions. Kenny is such a fool... But man, nothing but respect for Edwin...dude took the ball and gave us great innings. I for one would like the guy back, but with his agent we knew that was most likely not happening. So Williams has to move the guy we got for Hudson for a aging Relief Pitcher and a mediocre prospect.

QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 07:51 PM) The prospect Cardinals are after is Addison Reed. Check it out on their message boards. Jackson, Thorton, and Reed for Rasmus. I'd try not to give up Reed because I think he will be Thorton's replacement if a trade is done. Reed is too valuable. Overpayment in my view.

Omar Vizquel is everything right about baseball.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 01:25 PM) Rios just plays the game of baseball very poorly. Throws to wrong bases, doesn't try to advance runners, can't get hits with 2 outs and RISP, and he doesn't hustle. I'm all for benching him or just trading him for another bad contract. That about sums up one Alex Rios in a nutshell. To me he is one of the worst overall baseball players the Sox have had in recent memory. He inspires NO confidence at all. When he gets a hit it's like the worst kid on the little league team actually making contact...you're just happy he didn't spike himself. Alex Rios is by far my most hated player on this team. He is pure garbage. Another in the growing list of Kenny Williams boondoggles.

QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 10:54 AM) It's extremely sickening when you read a quotes from someone like AJ on last nights game saying he thought the team played well. Come. On. LOL...they did not play well...they went through the motions. Danks was a bulldog on the mound, Moral made some fine plays in the field (although the one floater to PK was confusing), but otherwise the team looked like a very below average team. The hitting is the most mind-boggling thing...balls aren't even being hit hard. It's one thing if guys are having great swings as you know they'll maybe break out of it, but a lot of these guys look over matched and last night it was against Bruce Chen, not Roy Halladay. AJ and Paulie I thought were terrible hitting. And you can tell this is getting to Paulie...his team sucks, he is now scuffling a bit and last night on a close foul ball play (I personally think it was a good call) Konerko wouldn't really let it go. He usually gets over things a lot easier...this crap team is grinding him down. A winning streak better happen or there may be full scale meltdown on this team.

QUOTE (Real @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 11:39 PM) If it weren't for the Twins injuries this year, the Sox would be in 4th place. It won't be long before the Sox are in 4th.

7-20: Sox (47-50) vs. Royals (39-58); 7:10; CSN

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 12:01 AM) What problem do you have with Aramis? I know you asked this of someone else, but my view is... he is pricey he is getting up there in years he alone does NOT fix this team We don't need anymore trading card deals. Moving on Ramirez would cost us heavily. Our farm is almost barren...a trade of Ramirez just so he could help us finish 3rd place would finish off the system. the Sox are NOT ONE player away... -

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 11:43 PM) Another loss mental midget style. Another loss where the team sucked. One homer and then absolutely nothing else. This team (hitting) is wretched. -

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 11:16 AM) The more I think about it, assuming Danks comes back healthy this week... put me on the Peavy-to-the-Bullpen bandwagon. He obviously is still struggling a bit with recovering strength and conditioning, but he needs to pitch to build that back up. The Sox have 6 starters and need anther strong reliever. Let Peavy work the rest of the year from the pen, and go back to starting only if necessary. Then he has the offseason to more fully recover and condition, and be ready to start in 2012. I'm with this idea too. Since we need a righty in the pen, let him do it and prevent Williams from trading our top prospects as is his usual MO.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 11:57 PM) p.s. Anybody else just getting bored of "waiting for the team to get hot" and waiting for all the other teams in the Central to suddenly lose 10 in a row so we can win the division by one game, which I guess is KW's goal? Yes

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 12:34 AM) Are you sure it was Rios or an imposter? Has anyone seen Rios and Imposter at the same time?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 12:07 AM) This team is what it is... barely .500 and completely forgettable in a few seasons. What a disappointment. BARELY .500? Last I checked this was a sub .500 team. We have one of the worst lineups in baseball. The only reason we're not 20 games below is because we do have a great pitching staff.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 11:33 PM) And Rios stupefied everyone by collecting 2 hits in one game even. Where is the like button for posts? this one made me laugh.

I don't think it's we don't 'have a shot' at the division...the numbers clearly say we do, but watching this team, specifically the offense leads one to believe that our level of suck will override any other level of suck our rivals can muster and thus we'll be out of the hunt.
-
QUOTE (kapzk @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 11:06 PM) It definitely does help us cuz its still keeps us only 4.5 games out of the division lead. We still got 65 games left in the season and in our past 65 games we have gained 6.5 games on the division leader. So there is certainly hope to win the division. 4.5 Games is not a huge lead by any means, but ofcourse our s***box offense needs to contribute asap if we plan on taking the division And moves the Twins closer. Once they pass us, the season is pretty much over. Haven't they beaten us 29 of the last 36 games? That's little league stuff.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 10:52 PM) Twins bail out the White Sox and possibly save their season by walking off Chris Perez. 2-1 Twins. Bases loaded two-run single by Danny Valencia after Mauer walk, Cuddyer double and Thome was intentionally walked. how does this help us? It just means the Twins are into the race...and we ALL KNOW what happens when the sox play that team.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 10:40 PM) Especially when he trades Viciedo for a reliever. There is no reason that he isnt up. The fact that he isnt up, tells me that he is going going gone. Please my god.

Kenny is on dope if he thinks adding a righty RP is the final piece to this puzzle.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 09:58 PM) What good is shutting him down going to do? He needs to pitch and pick up some strength. Its ironic the outing that killed him was one when he was basically unhittable, the relief outing he had. If he is fatigued as has been suggested by well...Jake himself, then the only cure for that is rest. He could just have too much tread off the tire as well.
