9/19 ESPN Sunday Night Baseball- Tigers @ Sox

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 12:31 AM) The real question is, what former superstars are still lurking in the majors that KW can add to his collection? I keep thinking Ivan Rodriguez will wear a Sox jersey soon, same with T. Hunter. haa haa...Yea I wonder. Is there anyone left from the 1996 Indians we could obtain? -
Manny should just take the next Taxi out of town. Pathetic and useless.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 12:24 AM) I loved how Joe Morgan talked to Manny, and Manny told him that he talked with Ozzie when he came to the Sox, and he told Ozzie he didn't think he'd find his groove this season. What a terrible acquisition. Kenny needed another baseball card to add to the collection. I mean...it's like having a really hot girl way after her prime. She isn't worth damn any more, but at least you can say you had her. Kenny has been a terrible GM for a few years now. -

QUOTE (WinorDie88 @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 12:23 AM) MANNYPALOOZA WOO HOO! It's a really bad concert let me say. The guy has been setup time and time again with these type of chances and fails every time. He needs to be gone. HORRID pickup by KW. -

Just get rid of Manny now. He serves no use. -

QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Sep 19, 2010 -> 11:44 PM) Boy, Morel has got a nice line drive swing. He does. The mechanics of his swing show that. Don't see a monster power hitter in him, but do see a good average and lots of doubles...with good defense, he can be a very respectable third baseman for the Sox. I could see him being at least as good as R.Ventura. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 19, 2010 -> 10:39 PM) I wonder why Ozzie hasn't tired of watching Juan Pierre like I have. Juan needs to be gawn, but he'll be back along with Teahen. I mean, he's a decent enough slap hitter I guess, but I ain't a Juan fan. Pierre gave the Sox exactly what they obtained him for. No more, no less. There are other players who were bigger disasters that need to be discussed. -

Either way, it's just very bad how the Sox are ending the season. Even not winning the division would have been tolerable had the team played better down the stretch. Time to look ahead to the Bears and Hawks seasons now. So sad, because the Sox are my first love. Oh well. -

Notice something else? When Ozzie brought in Teahen, Gardenhire didn't goto Fuentes even though that woulda been two lefites. LMAO...Gardenhire had so little concern for Teahen he just let his righty strike him out. Ozzie = Goofball -

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 10:42 PM) Also, just let Morel play Ozzie. Teahen obviously is awful...just a brutal, brutal acquisition by KW. +1 That really pizzes me off...Ozzie has to show everyone he's the boss, he makes dem decisions. If he had Harold Baines on the bench to hit, sure I'd think about it, but Mark friggin Teahen shouldn't pinch hit for ANYONE at ANYTIME. Now we have a bad fielder out there. Nice job Ozzie...did you get the memo this game was supposed to go 9 innings? -

Ozzie I have defended, but his lefty/righty bullchit gets on my nerves. Nice job getting Teahen in for the strikeout. Let the fooking kid hit...he looks like he has a good approach at the plate and seemed to be seeing the ball well. Now we have a clod in the field at third base. Damnit ozzie. -

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 10:10 PM) Would Larusa be an upgrade? If you dump Ozzie and bring in Tony (who I Love) say goodbye to Cooper. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 10:06 PM) Morel with a really nice approach on that double. And you just have to laugh at Pierre trying to bunt the runner over when trailing by 2. Morel has really superb use of his top hand on the bat, in how he rotates his wrist over upon hitting the ball. Very good fundamentals and that leads me to believe he has a chance to be a very good line drive type hitter, as evidenced by that double. I haven't seen much of him, but I get excited when a kid the Sox drafted comes up to the show. -

Manny is garbage....Pavano throwing 89 mph fastballs by him, fouling off other cheese...He's washed up. -

Glad to see this game is following the same path of greatness. Although Mark looks good early. -
You want to beat Minnesota? 1-Get guys who can catch the damn baseball 2-Get guys who play smart 3-Pitch well 4-Play aggressive on the base paths I think 3 and 4 we're probably decent on...#2 is not great and #1 is disaster zone. Imagine how much BETTER our pitching would be if we didn't have jesters in our lineup playing soccer instead of baseball?

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 12:55 AM) This is the biggest myth. They're better than us. They have been most of these past years. It's a well constructed team. Not luck, not fundamentals necessarily. Yet still not good enough to do anything with it. Congrats to them. As I said, gone after round 1. Yea Yea yea...I'd rather be there than in 2nd.
-
Glad for Thome, but the Twins will be soundly eliminated by the Yankees or Rays in Round 1. I really have no delusions that team will do squat...against us they do no wrong, they hit every pitch, they make every catch, they get every stupid fooking break....but they'll be dispatched quickly once post-season begins and they aren't playing the White Sox. How we beat them in that playoff game 2 years ago is a mystery to me. Guess Danks had Jobu with him.

Not sure who should go, but neither one will. If I had my pick I'd say Kenny Williams, it seems he just makes trades now for the sake of trading and has now shipped 3 excellent starting pitchers...all young...all cheap to other teams for overpriced players (Peavy), crappy players (Swisher) or guys who won't be around very long anyway (Jackson). Having faith in the young guys, faith in your coaching would have eliminated the necessity of having to go get Jake Peavy or Edwin Jackson, which would have freed up money to address the disgusting situation at third base. And speaking of third base, what drug was Williams on thinking a guy who Kansas City dumped off third base could come to Chicago and man that position? Mark Teahen plays terrible terrible defense and has absolutely no power for a corner fielder. So what is his use again? On a championship team? All told the outfield wasn't halfbad even with CQ's struggles this year. Rios had a good year...Quentin could still get to 30 homers and Piere will steal 60+ bases. Although defensively the OF is still average at best. It appears none of the players obtained for Vazquez will amount to much. Flowers will need to really come on next year, but overall he looks awful. Lillibridge wasn't so bad, but looks to me like a utility type. Given what we have given up for players, it seems we surely didn't max our value for Javy. Kenny Williams is just like the dude in your fantasy league who just likes making trades.

If the Sox weren't fading out of site in the Central race, PK would be your MVP....

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Sep 15, 2010 -> 03:59 PM) I agree. Great post. KW has made some bad decisions, but he's also made some great moves. Ken Williams hasn't made a 'great move' in 5+ years (save possibly Thornton). Before that he made some amazing moves and it's why the Sox won it all in 2005.
