Paulie is simply put a professional hitter.

Masterson looks like great out there, but the Sox approach at the plate has been better. Have we hit one ball hard tonight? Need Edwin to keep dealing, because Sox aren't scoring much tonight.

QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 12:54 PM) I hate Manny. He's an idiot who disrespects the game in every way. I don't think the Sox will win the division with or without him, so I'm a little disappointed he's on the team I root for. That said, it's only 5 weeks, so I will root for him and hopefully a miracle will happen and the Sox will go 23-9 the rest of the way and that will be enough. This is how I feel. Manny is boorish, a loser, a quitter, a primadonna...he pizzes on the game at every chance given. He's trash. My view is the Sox problems are now bullpen related and Ramirez will do little to help change the overall plight of the White Sox. But like you, I'll hope for the unforeseen to happen.

This has been an amazing turnaround. At one point the Sox were on life-support, at or near last, talking about a firesale...and now look? It's been enjoyable to watch. I don't get much time right now to post in here (doing some pretty intense post-grad work), but rarely miss a Sox game. It's been a lot of fun and also takes away the distraction of the Blackhawks being dismantled piece by piece. Once again, I have to give Ozzie Guillen credit. He lead us to a Title in 2005, won another Central title and his ability to keep this team focused and not let them give up on the season (when we could have) indicates he is the manager for this team. AMAZED is definately a good choice of words.

Super news. Sox are about ready to make their move.

I never trusted Peavy to begin with. First the guy pitched in Petco and that inflates everyone's numbers. Take a look at what Jon Garland is doing this year. Second he, for the longest time, did not want to pitch in the AL. Why? Does he like hitting that much? Or did he know he'd be an average pitcher in the AL. But we're stuck with him unless he can string 3 or 4 quality starts in a row together, which he hasn't been able to do this year. He's been a bottom of the rotation starter and with the money he's commanding, that's a joke. The Swisher and Peavy trades were just horrible decisions. Now this roster is full of old geezer, injury proned guys, overrated players, role players out of position, etc. I really would like to see a wholesale firesale of this team with all but just a few players being expendable.

QUOTE (zeke bonura is the GOAT @ May 17, 2010 -> 06:47 PM) our pitching staff is set for the next couple years, same with the CF, SS, and 2B most likely. i see no problem in getting rid of AJ and seeing if Flowers is the longterm catcher for us. Sadly, we are stuck with Teahen at 3rd and that other crap in the outfield. We really have no major league ready prospects aside from Flowers and Hudson IMO. Unless we get some decent prospects in return, i'm not sure who will man 1B or the corner outfield spots in the near future, as in next year. Here's to hoping we draft Austin Wilson and he makes a Jason Heyward type rise to the top... I don't think Flowers is ready and at this point Hudson isn't either, but he is closer. Just take a gander at our minors, it's terrible. The major league team is full of creaky veterans or waiver wire fodder. Much as I hate to do it, we need to try to trade whoever can bring in the pieces to start producing long term success to this franchise.

Quentin out yet again...geeze that guy is fragile.

What a disaster this rotating DH NL lineup idea is...

This team sucks. What manager is going to get these guys anywhere? There is virtually nothing exciting about watching this team except a couple starting pitchers and a reliever or two...Just putting together a bunch of good players (circa 2004) is so Dan Snyder-esque it's funny. Now the team is in the doldrums, the salary is high, so-called good players are playing at DFA-them levels, and no one is watching this flotsam...and we're only 16 games in. There is time to turn it around, but does this team have that capability? Kenny retooled the minors a bit, then gutted it again for a guy who can't get people out and is making more money than God. Accountability starts with guys like that. Everyone likes to beat up on a platoon hitting DH (who admittedly should NOT be there). There are more problems here than Mark freaking Kotsay (though he could be one of the first to be moved out if need blood is needed). -
I also wonder if Peavy still "doesn't want to be here". I still won't forget him turning down a trade to the White Sox. Yea Yea he changed his mind, but I still consider him a mercenary, a hired gun...maybe his heart isn't in it. I don't know, but the guy looks like AAA fodder at this point, from a guy who was supposedly one of the most dominant righties in baseball. What a crock...the guy is pitching worse than Carlos Silva. With the money he makes that's disgusting.

I guess obtaining aging vets, injury prone plodders and role/utlility players and plugging them into a starting role isn't paying off. Even our so-called good players (Quentin, Peavy, AJ) are so worthless at this point I don't care if they put all of them on the DL just to get someone else to watch.

-New league with more real hitters -Stadium where mistakes are badly exposed -He was never as good as many here thought

AJ is smart...he's heady....he's clever...thats being a baseball player. AJ didn't put a gun to anyone's head to go to first base. He worked himself on base anyway he could. This is no different than Reggie Jackson allowing himself to be hit on the basepaths during the World Series back in the late 70s. Baseball is a game of trickery and AJ is the master.

This Blue Jay fan booing Rios is bizarre. Those fans usually don't boo ANYTHING, but they decide to BOO a guy who was placed on waivers by their team? Hmmmkaaaa. Good game tonight. -

Does it matter who is playing? Romero has lethal stuff tonight. -
QUOTE (The Critic @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 12:38 PM) If Peavy doesn't give up 7 ER, Teahen doesn't have the chance to be a hero. Peavy's suckiness was something special last night. Yea but dont say anything about that guy. Welcome to the AL Jake.

Wow...thanks for that signature line full of comments from 1994. I am mad all over again. -
Nearly a perfect game. Great defense (had one inning where we were a bit off), brilliant pitching, aggressive base running, timely hitting, power...speed...defense...pitching. Lets go.
