both of these offenses look horrendous
No No No. OUR offense looks horrendous. Green Bay's offense can't do anything, because OUR defense is so good. Get with the program. LOL.

Defense is incredible. If the offense would just kinda suck we'd be in business tonight.

this is awful
I'd call the offense and play calling a "catastrophic success".

Third and inches so they go back to pass and get sacked? This is trash playcalling.

I can respect that YOU wanted Watson, but most experts didn’t want him or Mahomes over Mitch and I seriously doubt Moan4Yoan thought Mahomes was going to put up one of the greatest QB seasons in NFL history prior to the draft. His position is revisionist theory.
This does not seem true. Watson was the clear top guy. Mahomes was interesting because he had played at Texas Tech, whose QBs usually put up video game numbers. I think he got overlooked a bit because it seemed EVERYONE does well at QB there. However, unlike the guys before him (Kingsbury, Harrell, etc) Mahomes had the pro, size, talent and skills. The system did NOT mask his talent. Trubisky played 13 games at UNC, very little sample size. It was not a good pick especially considering the Bears traded up for him. He has talent, but he's very inconsistent, has a real issue reading defense. He has missed a couple checkdowns tonight (according to Warner on the radio, as I was listening to the game while driving).

Defense is hanging in there against a Hall of Fame QB.
-
Not gonna jump into the Trubisky battle here, but this is some craptastic offense. Chalk it up for whatever reason, it damn well stinks right now.

Trubisky is still mediocrity personified. It’s going to be extremely frustrating watching this defense look good only to watch them struggle to get into field goal position with Trubisky throwing 10 yard passes and a rookie kicker.
His numbers from last year actually were pretty solid, but tonight he looks positively terrible. Rodgers just diced the Bears Defense, now it's time for Mitch to step it up. Defense can't expect to shutout a player like Rodgers.

Nights like this is why I simply don't miss DC's starts. Yea, he has had some really rough games this year, but he has also not always had great defense, has had some tough luck and yes has also struggled himself at times, but tonight reminds us he is an elite talent with incredible potential. His command still lags right now, but the very moment he can clean that up you are looking at a bonafide ace. The question is will he clean it up and how much? Still fun when he's dealing like he was tonight.

Good thing Jay is still on the team. Ryan Cordell can‘t possibly replicate what he brings to the table.
The day neither are in this lineup is when we know our team is ready to compete.

Both pitchers looking good early.

Goins came to the big leagues as a "pure/defense first" SS, so not a huge surprise there.
And Sano's hardly Usain Bolt.
Maybe all true, but watching the Sox defense this year has been like taking a mind altering substance, it's great to see two guys (Goins and Mac) who do everything brilliantly on a play.
-
Goddamn that was one of the best defensive plays the Sox has done all year. Simply awesome play.

Because he’s the most overrated player in baseball on this site imo
I am sick of hearing about him myself.

And Lopez has dominated the AL? I thought people here love peripherals? Musgrove has a career FIP of 4.01 and xFIP of 4.13.
Musgrove is a nice pitcher, but why add in a prospect with Lopez for him?

Good grief why does losing look so dumb.
LOL I like this quote. Will use it.

LOL Dylan Cease. He can go from great to crap to great again. That was a great 5th inning.
-
Cease getting destroyed by lefties this year. He has to rectify that to be a viable part of the 2020 rotation.
-
This performance against a subpar team missing a couple good (err, one great) hitters is discouraging.

Wasn’t even a bad pitch. The 2 strike pitch to Calhoun was way worse
Yea that was a cheese ball change up high in the zone. Should have probably kept with the fastball or try a curve. Still a long ways to go for Dylan.
-
Good lord. Goes from a great inning to a horrific inning.

Would be great to see Cease take a step forward today.
Solid first inning, 3 up/down w/ one K. Throwing lots of hooks, a couple were hammers. Fastball/curve showing right now, no changes so far. Like the flow early w/ DC.

I'd have to see these experts lists, not doubting you. I desperately wanted Mahomes, mainly because I watch TTU games like a religion because my wife forces me too (she's an alum), so I saw a real pro glow in him. He was simply electric as a football player. Not saying I am brilliant, I was just a fan and liked him. The Chiefs hit the motherload with him. Maybe they got lucky to get him, I don't think they traded up to get him, he just fell to them so plenty of GMs did NOT see this coming.
