QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 6, 2009 -> 03:33 PM) Do we really want to extend a guy who'll be 33 years old at the time? A LOT of pitchers pitch well into their late 30s and Roy seems to be a guy who has an arm made of rubber. A rotation of Halladay, Buehrle, Danks, Count and Floyd has World Title written all over it.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 6, 2009 -> 03:10 PM) Allen, Poreda, and Richard? Done. They can have Link, too. And I'll pickup peanut shells in their stadium. That's a steal (and I do like all 3 of those players we'd be sending).
-
Count has his velocity back up there, I think the guy is back. (holding breath). But the OPs point is a good one, Contreras took his medicine and battle through his issues and has come back to be a tremendous pitcher lately. I hope it keeps up.

QUOTE (wilmot825 @ Jun 30, 2009 -> 11:49 PM) Honestly, I do think it will get brought up again and Jake will have second thoughts...I think Jake Peavy might be in a Sox uniform. LOL. Jake does NOT want to pitch for the White Sox Or in the American League. He's already turned down deals to both the White Sox and Red Sox. How many times does this guy have to say this for people to quit worrying with it? Peavy is the worst possible target at this point. I think we have the starting pitching that can win this division right now. Will we hit enough to win? That's my only concern.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 12:23 AM) Thome's been huge against Sowers in the past. Ok I wasn't aware of that. I'd still start Paulie at first. Hell, I'd almost come up with the exact same lineup as the game tonight, it sure was productive against a far better pitcher. -
If this team was totally tanking I'd certainly think a deal involving Dye would be a good path to take, but at this time, our team is now over .500 and no more than 4 games out after tonight. Starting pitching is starting to show real consistency and some of our hitters are starting to play to form. Keep Dye and make a run at this division.

Didn't you see what Peavy wanted to waive his NTC to come here? Guaranteed 4th at 22 zillion dollars + an opt out clause. This isn't even an issue worth talking about. Screw Peavy. Also, why do we need another SP right now? All our guys are pitching pretty well.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 30, 2009 -> 10:30 PM) It will be interesting to see how Ozzie handles the lineup tomorrow. Castro will be playing, and Thome/Fields will likely be in lineup. Maybe Konerko will get the day off. Why wouldn't we come back with pretty much the same lineup save AJ? Facing another lefty tomorrow. -
QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jun 30, 2009 -> 01:23 PM) Apologies, for my tendency to profess my nearly-queer love for MB, regardless of thread topic. If you can't love Mark, then who the heck CAN you love?
-
Sox are 4 out in 2nd place right now and the starting pitchers are starting to gell. Lets try to win this thing.
-
Two real good professional atbats by Dye and Paulie there.
-
Potentially one of the most bizarre turn of events. Gotta give the big guy props for battling through whatever the heck it was that made him a BP pitcher for much of the past 2 years. His last two starts (+ Floyd's resurge) has this staff looking very good.
-
I am wondering about Q's durability at this point. We lost him down the stretch last year (admittedly, nothing he could do about getting hit). And his short time in Arizona he was always battling some ailment. And here we are again watching him sit on the DL. I am NOT saying anything negative about CQ, because he is a tremendous young player and I was SO HAPPY when KW acquired him, but part of me thinks the guy is snake bitten and his value is more pronounced when we are running out people like Wise to play the OF.
-
Wise is now down to .133 and he was our FIFTH hitter yesterday? I just don't get it.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 02:36 PM) BA has sucked and been booed before. s*** Paul f'n Konerko got booed last year. Nut up. Now this is blasphemy. Paulie is part of the reason we have a World Title Flag, I will never boo any of the boys that brought us 2005, even the joker who manages our team.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 03:38 PM) The Sox are hitting .350 today. Sox should be leading if they could have practiced some fundamental baseball. Fields has been mind boggling bad at times this year. I like the kid, but I wonder about his long term potential. -

This pitcher for Detroit has been brutal this year...very close to losing his rotation spot. What do the Sox do with him? Not much so far. -
