Runner on third less than 2 outs...this SHOULD be a run, but in Sox-world, Im not so sure. -

This game just has slugfest written all over it...i know it's early, but neither pitcher looks overly comfy out there. -
QUOTE (greasywheels121 @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 08:01 AM) Probably going to get flamed for saying this, but JM3 is bad ass. Actually, I don't think you should get flamed. I didn't think I liked Mayer at first, but he was doing a concert on some satellite channel one night and I was bored so I started watching. He was playing this amazing blues stuff. It was very impressive, fresh and unique. He's a tremendous musician and while I hated that 'pop song' he did about Jennifer Love Hewitt's body, that cat has more skills than many people know about.

QUOTE (Sonik22 @ May 31, 2009 -> 07:56 PM) Does anyone else on here a huge fan of Chevelle? I bought their CD with "The Red" on it and was disapointed. Probably my own fault as I had not researched that band enough (a little too nu metally for me). Defintely not ragging your band, because to each his own, but other than "The Red" and one other song on that album, I really didn't like it.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 03:06 PM) Why not bunt there? This team makes no sense with the situational things they do. Balk Beckham's last bunt was probably pony league. -

2 of our 3 hits are by lefties...time to put Thome in there and remove Joshua. -

Lost in the excitement of Beckham's first AB is yet another non-productive inning where we failed to come up with a key hit to bring in a run. I almost RATHER face Zack Greinke than Brett Freaking Anderson. -

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 02:26 PM) Maybe he thinks this is the good A's team from a few years ago that would destroy him. Yea, Mark has always struggled with this team, but man oh man look at their lineup, it's atrocious beyond belief. Holliday is a stud, but the rest of those guys??? uggghhh... -

I am only watching on GameDay, but given Mark's struggle with command, it's possible the As lineup simply has him intimidated. -

QUOTE (BFirebird @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 02:16 PM) This is like the most excited I have been to see a Sox player since....ever. For me it was Tom Seaver. Yea different time, different era, different situation...but I feel your joy. Beckham is gonna be good (Jordan Danks as well...after the draft next week our farm will be well on its way back). -

QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 02:11 PM) But it's a young pitcher, winning today is gonna be tough. Let's hope to reverse the trend of getting absolutely owned by new guys. True True, he's young, but at least we've heard of this guy, which removes the 'never heard of this guy' angle that always gaurantees a Sox loss. -

So if the Sox win today and the Tigers lose today (down 3 to Bawston now) the Sox are merely 2.5 games out of first. God Bless the AL Central. -

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ May 29, 2009 -> 11:04 PM) JPN, what does Whisler offer besides his mid-90's FB? His K per 9 innings is not at all impressive. He's also giving up more than a hit per 9. Somehow he has a good era and a decent whip so I don't know how he's doing it and I know nothing about him, but have never been blown away by what i've read. Maybe he 'pitches to contact'... hell i dont know, but if he isn't lit up by major league hitters Ill be shocked. Then again, no one expected a lot out of Richard and he's looking like a legit arm out there. So what the hey, let's see what the kid has. -
QUOTE (scenario @ May 29, 2009 -> 10:42 PM) So, you're saying Contreras' trade value is less than a penny... At least. Contreras is washed up, time to move on. When was the last time that guy was legitimately good? Been a while...he served well in 2005 for the Title, but so did Garland and Garcia and they were both moved out...time to move Jose out too.

Sometimes the best venues are dumps...depends on the sound. CBGBs was a slummy dive, but it had awesome acoustics. Was fortunate to see a couple gigs there before they shut the doors.

QUOTE (longshot7 @ Apr 27, 2009 -> 01:09 PM) The movie was UNBELIEVABLE - can't wait to see the band. Are they still playing as a three-piece? I have heard great things about this movie/doc. Interesting, Anvil kicked it around the 1980s and never really got much attention, always crawling beneath the surface. Their song "666" is one of the coolest songs though, tremendous mid-tempo riffing on that one. Other than that, I have very little else of their material. Will have to check out that movie.

QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ May 26, 2009 -> 11:22 PM) Guy in my fantasy league dropped him. Should I grab him off the waivers? Absolutely, especially if you can DL him.

QUOTE (Reddy @ May 26, 2009 -> 11:55 PM) you need to use punctuation... and by the way... we won. Some can't enjoy a win. It's like a genetic flaw that will take a 162-0 Sox record to cure. Good job Sox...hanging in there, I like it.

Bedard is the lefty version and slightly more reliable (though that's not saying much) of Mark Prior. Basically, Bedard has + stuff and can be downright filthy...but look at his career? There isn't much of one to talk about. Completely NOT dependable. The only way I'd take on Bedard is with a heavy incentive-laden deal.
