  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 04:42 PM) The Sedin twins.. they are a couple of pussies. To be honest, I think we'll do fine against Vancouver. They barely held off the Flames in their division, and only have home ice because of stupid rules that division winners get the top 3 seeds. Just because they are the 3 seed does not mean they are better than the Blackhawks... quite the opposite in fact. Hawks in 6. Haha, agree with the first sentence, but I can't see us in 6. This has 7 games written all over it.
  2. Colon has had 1 good start, 1 so-so start and 1 crappy start. Saying he's had two good starts is just wrong. That said, he should be given some more time to work it into shape.
  3. Could it be any worse than the scrubs we have in the 4 and 5 hole? God love Jose for coming back so quickly, but what's the point if you're garbage? And Colon, after being very good in the first game, has been pathetic since. We can't win a weak AL Central with these clods in the rotation.
  4. It appears the idea to load up our staff with fattys and geezers will not work. While Floyd, Burls and Danks have been solid...these bums Contreras and Colon are not even worthy of being sent to AAA ball. They SUCK.
  5. Hawks from last night The Good: -The team battled. -Still 2-2. Did anyone expect to sweep Calgary? -Buff is playing well. Pahlsson had a nice game yesterday. -Doing great in the circles -It's now best 2 of 3...hold serve at home and we move on The Bad: -Our stars struggled. -Their #1 line absolutely dominated us -I still don't think we're big enough -Our blueline crapped it's pants a few times -Our goaltending has been abysmal in Game 3, and Game 4
  6. This thread reminds me of my first born when he was younger asking me, "what if you were a tornado?"
  7. Kane ahead of Toews is a joke. I like Kane, love Toews. Kane is soft, floats, plays little defense and is still a bit immature. Toews is the real deal and has virtually no weakness to his game...leader, sniper, passing, defense, faceoffs, winning tough battles in the corners, playing the net, etc., etc... Who did they interview for this? A bunch of 12 year old girls? My list would likely be Burls and Toews in the 1/2 spot to be honest.
  8. Swisher will eventually be back to the comfy confines of the sub .250 hitters.
  9. So THIS is how this offense will score? Just let them walk you.
  10. Standing O...He was a MAJOR part of why we have a 2005 World Title. NO PLAYER on that team would ever be booed by me...they gave me the greatest sporting year of my LIFE...they ECLIPSED Super Bowl 20...for those boys, TO INCLUDE Joe Crede, I am forever thankful to them. I wont ever forget it and ill be damned if Id boo anyone who was part of that 2005 team.
  11. Getz is a PERFECT #2 hitter. Why move him? He would be a decent leadoff hitter, certainly better than Wise, but we have us a LEGIT #2 hitter...I don't see a #2 hitter on this team other than him. If we move Getz to the 1hole, we have a fair upgrade at the 1 spot, but a downgrade at the 2 spot. LEAVE GETZ ALONE. If we need a leadoff hitter, then find one, but don't move Getz there.
  12. Some have complained that Kenny has failed to get the part needed, but it sounds like to me he is as frustratated as anyone that we have to start with Wise in CF. I think the options out there are too costly, or are not that much of an upgrade anyway. He was probably hoping for an in house solution (Lillibridge), but that never came to fruition. Getz is not a leadoff hitter, he is a prototypical #2. Alexei isn't leadoff material either. Nor Brian Anderson. Jerry Owens was jettisoned to the softball beer leagues leaving us with DeWayne Wise. I think Kenny knows a real legit leadoff hitter who could hit you .280/.380+ with 25+ steal potential makes this team all the more dangerous and don't think he hasn't tried to right that ship. Be patient...I have a feeling Kenny will get the right guy to fill that spot sooner rather than later...Wise is going to be too much to overcome.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 04:42 PM) Buehrle had an off day, his control wasn't there very much and the umps squeezed him quite a bit. He doggedly got through 5 innings and kept the Royals to 2 runs. A lot of guys haven't had their good stuff on day one of this season. How many of them only gave up 2? That's why Mark Buehrle is who he is...dude is just a gamer. He's a World Champion. If he's healthy he takes his start every 5th day and I simply don't worry about him.
  14. With a legit leadoff threat at the top of this order, this team could be scary good folks. Of course, that infers we get good pitching from Jose and Colon, which is still a bit of a mystery. Great job by the kids...As a Sox fan who is tired of being an aging, slow footed team it sure is nice to see young guns out there like Fields and Getz.
  15. Nice way to begin the season. Burls battled, the pen was insane...Getz and Fields look like they belong, Thome was clutch. There was NOTHING to complain about, unless you consider leadoff an important part of the batting order.
  16. Damn I love Farnsworth...welcome to the AL Central. Do we ALWAYS score on that guy? Big Jim bails out CQ and brings in the kids (Fields, Getz)...Other than leadoff, I like this team.
  17. Runner on third less than 2...gotta get one in. Nice job Getzie.
  18. The crowd should have cheered Wise when he popped out. You know in little league how the worst kid on the team never hits it, always strikes out, but then one game he actually grounds out to the pitcher and everyone erupts? That's sorta like DeWayne Wise is.
  19. Please end this gotdamn Dewayne Wise experiment...what a joke of a leadoff hitter. End it TODAY Ozzie.
  20. QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Mar 23, 2009 -> 03:22 AM) The Seaver comparison is ridiculous because he won exactly 100 games less in a Sox uni then Maddux did in a Cubs uni. Oh, but what a great 33 wins they were. Tom Seaver was and still is my all time favorite pitcher and the White Sox were and are my one and only team. When Tom Terrific made it to Chicago, it was truly a great day. That said, no...Seaver's number shouldn't be retired in Chicago. That's dumb...hear about the Heat or someone retiring Jordan's number? There is some real dumb s*** out there.
  21. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 25, 2009 -> 07:15 PM) Lillibridge struckout again? Wow, that's a 1/22 BB/K for the spring. I was really excited about getting this guy. I thought a change of scenary was what the doctor ordered for him. But I think he belongs in Charlotte at this point. No way should he break camp with the Sox.
  22. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Mar 19, 2009 -> 09:22 PM) BA or Fields leading off = LOL The fact that this is even a consideration by Guillen says a hell of a lot. Ozzie thought it was April 1st. This is the dumbest idea I in the history of the spoken word. Fields or BA leading off? The wiff kings?
  23. Who cares...the guy is a prima donna...Im glad he's gone. I rooted for him, but I hated it...I like to root for players I ... ahh, LIKE.
