  1. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 08:48 PM) What would we have to give Baltimore to get Huff OR Mora and Roberts?? Huff OR Mora + Roberts? Wow...Well, Huff had a great year this year, I don't think we could get him + Roberts. Mora and Roberts would be interesting. I think in the least Fields ... and at least 3 other prospects. Thing is, we don't really have anyting in the minors to deal. In short, I dont think we could get a deal done for Mora + Roberts...in fact, I dont know that we could land Roberts, much as Id love to have him.
  2. QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 08:49 PM) I don't think Vazquez will be going anywhere. Starters that can give you 200 innings and a 4.50 ERA are extremely valuable in today's pitching market. Good, then that means we can deal him. Mark my words, he's history.
  3. Have it, cherish it...it's in my own personal video collection along with Rush's "Exit Stage Left", A League of Their Own, Major League, Super Bowl XX, Slapshot, This Is Spinal Tap, and a few other vids.
  4. Brian Roberts at 2nd, Ram at SS with a real 3rd baseman and a replacement for Javvy and Id be excited for next year.
  5. Kick ass. Im with ya...I dont know why I am positive...my middle name is cynical negative asshole....but Im giving my back to the boys. I really believe we can make a run here. We needed 3 to get in...we'll need 3 to stay in. Danks...Floyd...and Burls....its on you now. Go pitch.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 08:24 PM) Buehrle and Konerko are my 2 favorite Sox players of all time...no surprise they were awesome in 2005 and down the stretch this year. Damn straight. Put it this way, any player a part of 2005 I hold them in greater esteem. I got on Javvy A LOT quicker than I got on Jose Contreras for example. And like you, Mark and Paul are two of my favorite players...I'm still a big Crede fan and I was indeed part of the Rowand fanbase, but Buehrle just is awe inspiring at times and Konerko has never lost favor with me and as I said never will. He and Burls are two of the reasons I have a framed plaque on my wall from 2005 with a piece of world series baseball...Paulie and Burls are two of the reasons I have 8 videos (on VHS) of games going from game 1 ALDS v. Bawston to Game 4 WS title v. Houston....Paulie and Burls are two of the reasons I have a shirt and a seather for the 2005 World Series Champions. ANYONE a part of that team gets a pass from this kid, because NOTHING has ever felt as good...1985 with the Bears? It was awesome, but didn't even come close to 2005...Ill never forget that and Ill never forget the players who gave me (and many others) that joy.
  7. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 08:22 PM) His September arguably got us into the playoffs, single handedly. Are you a moron? What he said. Of all the players I won't toss under the bus, one is Paul Konerko...without him we dont have a 2005 flag. And I'll support him without condition until he is no longer a member of our team.
  8. QUOTE (BlackBetsy @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 08:19 PM) They drew about 13,000 on August 27th...pathetic. I know it... which shows they dont know baseball down there. Everyone knew they'd at least be decent with some of the young talent they have. Florida is arguably the worst sports state in America...even the Miami Dolphins (with all their tradition) were unable to sellout a playoff game v. KC in the early 1990s, a game I think Joe Montana may have QB'd...Florida sucks.
  9. QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 08:19 PM) Even with Sabean at the helm, there's no way the Giants trade Lincecum. Agree...that epic proprotions idiotic. I dont know if there was a pitcher better than him this year and he's only what...21, 22 years old? He's filthfy
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 08:17 PM) The Giants like Matt Cain more than Lincecum. Then they are stupid. Lincecum is special. If we can get him in Chicago, we DO IT...there isn't a player (not pitcher) on this entire team I would not trade for him.
  11. QUOTE (rangercal @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 08:15 PM) We Love our RAYS!* *going strong since May,2008 May 2008? Try August 2008
  12. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 08:14 PM) We're back to one of those win 3 straight or die things. Lets do it. We have one game left to live and Im not going to be negative about it. OH SURE, there are MAJOR changes I want made, but now isnt the time to discuss them, we need Danks to go battle Sunday.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 08:14 PM) Remember this about Lincecum...the Giants were close to trading him for Rios. If they sign C.C., they might be willing to trade him. Tim Lincecum will NEVER be available, EVER, at least not until he's a FA or washed up. YOU DONT trade pitchers like that, your build around them.
  14. QUOTE (rangercal @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 08:02 PM) yeah, I think we are just pissed off. hopefully next week everyone on soxtalk loves each other again ( obvioulsy meaning we won 3 straight) Yea hopefully so. They got us these 2...our team just needs to battle back. I am telling you...Tampa Bay WILL NOT win this series in Tampa Bay. We're not winning game 3 and 4 just to have Burls lose game 5. WONT HAPPEN. Im pissed, but it's over and done with.
  15. QUOTE (rangercal @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 07:59 PM) f*** these bandwagon fans. I love the fact that they have to deal with boston and NYY every year. Go yanks and sawx We have no agreed on much tonight, but AMEN to this. Screw these assholes...they just started showing up 3 weeks ago. You said it right BANDWAGON. And the cowbells are .... LAME.
  16. QUOTE (SoCalSouthSider59 @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 07:56 PM) That's the spirit! Book it bro. This team pisses me off and the umps are not the reason for this, but if we take this crap back to Tampa we're winning it. We just need to get Danksie to get us off the deck. I think he will... Floyd? Im not sure, but dude has been proving me wrong all year. I think the Rays either win that game 4 or we'll win the next 3. We needed 3 to get into this and we'll need 3 more to stay in it.
  17. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 07:56 PM) We need to solidify the bullpen for next year and get another quality starter. Didn't we already spend a zillion dollars to do #1 this year? Total agreement with #2 in your comment. Maybe we can obtain JP Howell.
  18. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 07:54 PM) need to sweep them in Chicago, which I think is very possible. then hope for the best in Tampa If it goes back to Tampa Bay, the Sox will win (as long as Mark pitches)
  19. QUOTE (JoeCredeYes @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 07:52 PM) It's even with the plate when it's in the glove, it's at least 6 inches outside while crossing it, I just went frame by frame. LMAO. Yea, sure. The pitch was in the center of the plate when it hit the glove...Mr. Howell doesn't have that kinda break, but keep on believing it's a fixed game. This teams hitters screwed the poooch...blame blue all night long, but it doesn't change the fact we got taken again.
  20. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 07:50 PM) looks like were going to have to win 3 in a row again. yikes!i just hope we dont get swept. getting swept in the playoffs sucks ass. And you know what...I believe they can...While this team irks me and they piss me off, Im not bailng yet. We have 2 home games w/ Danks and Floyd. If Danks can get us the W then momentum may be back with us...I think the Rays end it in 4 or we take it in 5.
  21. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 07:49 PM) ...after ball 4 and ball 5 on the previous 2. Sorry, I saw nothing wrong with any calls...in fact the 1-0 pitch that WAS called a ball was VERY CLOSE....it could have been called a strike. Swisher has to swing the damn bat in that situation.
  22. QUOTE (rangercal @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 07:47 PM) on tv too. Where are you getting your strikes and balls? The Umpire? Im watching the damn game...and the curve to Swisher was a strike. If you have some extenstential view of it that gives you a better view than I then Id love to see it, but the pitch to Swisher was STRIKE 3...
  23. QUOTE (BlackBetsy @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 07:46 PM) I'm not traditionally an umpire blamer. But Bucknor has been unusually bad. Totally disagree. Our hitters have gotten taken by the Rays pitching.
  24. QUOTE (rangercal @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 07:44 PM) You have know idea what you are talking about. according to the zone on tv and gameday I have counted 8 pitches the last 2 innings that were called strikes that were really balls. Gameday? Are you kidding? Computer simulation? That was a good pitch to Swisher...it was a GREAT PITCH actually...breaking off a 3-2 curve like that. And the zone on TV...I am watching as well and ive seen NOT A SINGLE pitch that was called wrong based on that...now ive missed a few pitches maybe, but not many. Keep the excuse parade going...the simple fact is OUR HITTERS GOT BEAT.
  25. QUOTE (spiderman @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 07:42 PM) He was clearly looking for Ball 4. That looked like Strike 3 to me. Because IT WAS strike 3...I am a major complainer as much as the next guy...ask me the next time Koharski refs a Blackhawks game...but this ump hasn't screwed us. JP Howell has been amazing. In fact, why is he a relief pitcher, that dude is GOOD. Where did he come from...how about Javvy for Howell?
