QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 07:54 PM) Can we officially say that Wise's hot streak is over. Get Swisher out there! I think Nick Swisher over-rated, but DAMN RIGHT get him out there. He's at least an actual major leaguer...Wise is a backup at best.

Must be nice to have a couple .300 hitters in your lineup.
-
QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 07:34 PM) Someone needs to call some of these guys out.... Cabrera isn't the one to do it.
-
Slowey perfect through 3, this is bordering on pathetic.
-
QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 07:34 PM) how did they score in the first. Gavin's stuff doesnt look too bad tonight. Bloop single, sac, ground rule double...the Mauer ball was hit good, but otherwise Gavin has been solid.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 07:32 PM) 3-0 with 2 outs is exactly when you are allowed to swing at that pitch. What have the Sox done this series with runners on base that makes you think all of a sudden if we just get a runner on first with 2 outs we are going to some how get them in? Griffey got a fastball, he got under it. He worked the count and swung at his pitch, nothing more you can really ask of a player. The quoted part is dead on accurate. I agree with this. The idea was fine, he just didn't get it done. The fact is this team is used up, full of over-the-hill players...after the season ends it's time to cut the cord...playoffs or not.

QUOTE (letsgoarow @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 07:30 PM) why is he swinging 3-0 I have no problem with him swinging 3-0, we need to get something going. Of course, he didn't do s***e with the cheese.

QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 07:28 PM) This team is just going through the motions. Watching the end of an era. This team should be gutted in the off-season. Keep 3 of our starters, 3 or 4 RPs, and keep 1/3 of the lineup. The rest need to go.

Thome dispatched with little fanfare.

Im so shocked.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 09:01 AM) I wouldnt call a solo HR early in a 3-1 game meaningless, its not all his fault they couldnt score one more run to tie it... I do agree, Buehrle is the series MVP, they way he battled when he didn't have his control in the first few innings, and the twins kept getting lucky....and he kept his compouse, got his control, and went seven strong... Really...had that been Vazquez instead of Mark, the Twins would have scored 7 or 8 runs. We need less people like Vazquez and more buehrles...

No confidence in tonight. Floyd has been a nice surprise this year, but for some reason I still doubt his ability to come through in a big game like this. If we couldn't win Burls v. Blackburn then I dont know if we will win. I am negative and cynical, but at the same time will be rooting the team on tonight...if they win, we go from suicidal cliff dwelling to right back in the catbirds seat.

The tourch is being passed. The White Sox look like the old, plodding team they are. They provide no sense of excitement and the pitching simply isn't good enough to carry the clods we have hitting. This roster needs to be turned over in the off-season. You can't count on Cleveland and Detroit being derailed by injuries again and the Twins will only be better as they kick off the dust of being major league neophytes. We currently have at least 3 designated hitters on the roster, 4 corner outfielders, no center fielders, a poor hitting 3rd baseman, a prima donna at shortstop, 1 horrible starting pitcher making more money than god, another starting pitcher older than John McCain coming off an injury, and no semblence of a strong future. But to make up for all this, the Bears suck ass, I hate the NBA, but at least there is always the Blackhawks.

If this team loses the division to a team that is nearly in full rebuilding mode then we should turn this crappy, slow, aging roster over. Not getting runners in from 3rd with less than two outs as consistently as we DONT get them in is unacceptable. Watching other teams move runners over, steal bases and track down would-be doubles while we hardly ever do the same is unacceptable. Paying a pitcher millions of dollars for below mediocre production and the guaranteed outcome of tanking at the first sign of a 'big game' is unacceptable. Fielding a team full of .220-245 hitters who can't run or play defense is unacceptable.
-
DEFENSE. RUNNING. The Twins will take this division with a style we should have incorporated 2 years ago. Instead we added aging, slow footed, bashers who play station to station ball.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 09:30 PM) Regardless of what happens tonight, the Twins are not going to win the rest of their games. And the Sox will?
-
We are witnessing a meltdown. We'll be .5 up in about 20 minutes.
-
Mark Buehrle showed what a stud he is tonight. He scuffled early, walked a couple of guys, the Twins hit the ball REALLY hard to deep pitcher and scraped up 3 runs. Mark hung wiff em though and battled, giving the team a chance. THAT is why we won it all in 2005. NEVER ONCE have a doubted #56for the White Sox. Unlike the bozo who pitched last night, Mark has at least given our team a chance. Can't ask for any more. Mark....

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 09:08 PM) yeah, but the momentum going into tomorrow definitely is not going to be for us if we lose tonight. I agree. I would call the game tomorrow for the Twins if they win tonight. Tonight was/is our best chance...veteran pitcher going against scrub starter. Tomorrow is anyone's guess. Slowey and Floyd have done well for their teams this year, but I'd certainly give the edge to the Twins if they win tonight. Also, if the game comes down to picking up runners, moving runners, running, and defense the edge clearly is with the Twins...our only hope is just to get into a slugfest or have one of our starters pitch lights out (which hasn't happened much lately save J.Danks)

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 09:07 PM) The AL Central is brutal. Easily the 5th best division in baseball. Cleveland and Detroit seriously underachieved this year (their injuries were a major factor). Sox and Twins were 3rd and 4th place teams coming in, but fortunate trainwrecks occurred in Detoilet and Cleveland.
-
We have 3 more outs to give (forget the 9th, Nathan will shut us down) or we'll be playing for the division tomorrow. If the Twins win tonight and tomorrow, they'll win the division. I still think the Sox will get the division with a win tonight OR tomorrow.
-
Whats the pitch count on Buehrle...he's been solid the last few innings. Would like to see him go at least two more.
-
Who didn't see THAT coming?
