  1. I liked getting Javy, but Young would look good in our CF...you gotta give up something to get something. Javvy has been solid since coming over.
  2. One hit thru 3 innings. Only so much our pitching can do folks. We gotta find a way to score runs without the homer.
  3. Quentin trade = I love Swisher trade = I hate, but at least Swisher is a good guy Cabrear trade = Lets get our compensation in the off-season, the guy is a friggin prima donna...
  4. Im watching from work, but despite the 2-0 fall, it looks like Floyd is actually pitching well...they got a bunt, an error, an infield single...and Floyd has 3 Ks already in 4 outs. I have no confidence this team can homer their way to a win today. But it's good to see Gav hanging in there.
  5. From the nothing has changed file, Kansas City sucks. I thought they were s'posed to be so much improved.
  6. Simply atrocious baseball game tonight so far.
  7. Im starting to feel more confident in Alexei, BA and Toby Hall as compared to PK and Swisher.
  8. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ May 27, 2008 -> 07:59 PM) to his credit, Mark sometimes has these total focusless first few innings and then gets it all together out of nowhere. That's called sack. Burls is a competitor. He may not have great stuff that night, but he'll battle his ass off, always has.
  9. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 27, 2008 -> 07:58 PM) we got two back and it's only the third inning. This game ain't ovah until it's ovah I tell you. And Mark is settling down. THing is, doesn't look like he'll go any more than 5 unless he gets REAL economical.
  10. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 27, 2008 -> 07:53 PM) Dang, time for a double steal. Why not? Cab and Zuna can run like hell and V-Mart isn't exactly Bench back there.
  11. Glad to see Mark pull out of it that inning....may be too late, but who knows.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ May 27, 2008 -> 07:34 PM) He has absolutely no power from the right hand side. If he can hit against righties, he'll be fine. We didn't trade our 3 best spects for a platoon guy, career .247 hitter with no speed and little defense. Dude has to do SOMETHING besides give a good interview on the Rome show.
  13. Swisher to the rescue again. Bench this guy Ozzie.
  14. At least Cabrera is starting to do a bit better...Swisher just looks like GradeA dead weight at this point
  15. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 21, 2008 -> 06:02 PM) 6 extra base hits all season...yeah, let me help you suck on his schlong a while too. :rolly Swisher's a far more talented player, and it's a matter of him getting his swing figured out. The potential is much, much greater for Swisher than it is Sweeney. Yet and Sweeney in his first starting gig still has a better OPS, OBP, average, and slugging percentage while only having FOUR fewer extra base hits than Swisher in about 50 fewer at bats. A career .250-something hitter is "far more" talented than Sweeney? Hardly. Swisher is a NICE player, but is not an elite talent by any means. What you see is what you get with Swisher...good guy, .250 average, some power, not much else. Sweeney could turn out to be terrible, but could also turn out to be a .300+ hitter playing superior defense (as evidenced by early returns). Swisher is the more proven commodity right now, but contrary to your point the far greater upside is with Sweeney.
  16. QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ May 21, 2008 -> 11:56 AM) "Pudge" doesn't belong to anybody, IMO, because it's a nickname for catchers in general and has long been. Fair enough, but you can bet your backside the moment someone takes on the nick "Sweetness" I'll be there to start the flogging.
  17. Had Owens broke with the Sox, CQ would have played sparingly. I just hope these little 'lucky breaks' keeps Sox brass in check for another 4 months.
  18. QUOTE (wilmot825 @ May 20, 2008 -> 02:19 PM) There is only one Pudge, and it ain't the catcher of the Tigers. +1. How in the hell can someone use a nickname already taken by a legendary HOF catcher?
  19. Where the hell was that 2nd pitch to Martinez? low?
  20. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 14, 2008 -> 04:53 PM) don't you dare fix that...Thome is still a stud and I would bet money his end of year numbers will prove it. So he'll hit 40 homeruns a year until what age? At what point do we expect players to simply run out of gas? He has been atrocious this year, simply atrocious, and we haven't even gotten to the part where he gets injured yet. As a 3-hitter, he's a joke. He should be hitting 5th, or -at this point- platooning.
  21. I hate the idea of putting slow-footed players in the leadoff spot. I'd rather have a guy who can keep us out of double plays and maybe get into scoring position before the first out is recorded. AJP does none of that. Putting him in the leadoff should quickly be followed by having a midget wearing shorts hit 2nd.
