  1. I have thought about that too. But I think given the makeup of the staff right now, considering its a complete dumpster fire, they want to let Cease just pitch in a relaxed controlled environment. The real issue is: Gio and Rey-Trajectory says great arms, terrible consistency. 2019? Same ole same ole. Neither able to follow up great performances with any momentum. Carlos-Trajectory says injury problems. Current status? IR Kopech and Dunning, two of the three most promising arms are currently in TJS rehab After this we have fodder like Nova, Banuelos,Covey and any "outside the organization" scrub we can cobble up to complete this terrible pitching situation. The back end of the bullpen is actually pretty good--IF we can get to it. The Sox have ZILCH outside of that mess. Injured guys, inconsistent guys, guys who just are not that good. Putting Cease into this frying pan just isn't a good idea I think. I think IF (big IF) the Sox get Rey and Gio pitching consistently, Rodon comes back and the Sox as a whole begin to play more consistent, quality baseball THEN we'll see Dylan Cease. Basically, you become a product of your environment, so before we bring up Cease the Sox need to cultivate a positive environment for their pitchers, and right now it's pretty damn ugly. I turned to game off last night after 7 runs were scored and Renteria was sitting on his hands doing nothing while Boston was partaking in batting practice against Manny.
  2. At least until the 4th inning when he walks 3.
  3. If you're going to bad at something then you may as well be really good at it.
  4. Not sure I understand Fathom. I was just wondering with Palka and Garcia looking below replacement level do we see some lineup changes? Cordell has some good tools.
  5. Will Ryan Cordell get a chance to play some?
  6. He is strictly bench fodder. Not sure what other team he'd start for. That strike out was horrific.
  7. Looked up Manny's numbers, seems to strike out a lot of guys and also give up a lot of hits. Control isn't that special either, but I liked that inning from him.
  8. How long till the Bobby Witt Jr threads start?
  9. Good inning there. Now someone wake up the freaking hitters.
  10. Horrible. My favorite pitcher growing up. Loved the fact he came to the Sox. My heart goes out to the Seaver family.
  11. Dude had 1 inning coming in, don't expect him to be in mid-season form.
  12. Gotta admit this sucks ass, the litany of gut punches starting last year when Kopech went on the table have taxed me a lot. But what am I to do? For better or worse I am a White Sox fan period. Been one since 1977 and have put up with all kinds of shit. This is just another thing to put up with. I DO want those two guys brought in for Machado jettisoned as soon as possible. They will be a constant reminder of the Sox failure to land a key UFA. I think then and only then can we really start focusing on the future.
  13. It really sucks right now. Spring Training should bring renewed hope, but man this off season has sapped any energy I had. It all started when Kopech blew out his arm last year and it has been pretty bad since. Yes I like adding to the pen, but holy cow these bums they landed to "entice" Machado is clown shoes level stuff. Unless Rodon blossoms this year and Gio and Rey can finally become middle rotation or better pitchers and the pen backs them up, this season has the makings of a real dumpster fire. I guess I am saying, "there is a chance". LOL
  14. Pure classic stuff right here.
  15. Haha. The season couldn't be getting going on a worse way. At least we can still debate the merits of whether Joe Jackson actually tanked or if Buck Weaver should have been reinstated. And there is even debate if Charlie Comiskey was "as cheap" as they say. I don't believe that debate, because had CC decided to spend money on players in the future, he could have turned the sox into what the Yankees became, because NYY DID spend money, buy players from other teams. The 1919 Sox could have been a dynasty and a foundation for a legacy of success. It was right in front of Comiskey and he failed to see it, then the Yankees used the model to glorious success.
  16. Not sure I want Rick Hahn making any trades with San Diego.
  17. If nothing else, all of Manny's family and friends on the team can keep us up-to-date about his performance. What a laughable off-season. Honestly, I really am not a huge Machado fan, but the Sox were and looked like frolicking jesters in pursuing him. He was always going to where the money was most. Sox failed to understand that.
