  1. Lefties are killing CC today...Thome and AJP...damn, wish we had Owens lined up today.
  2. QUOTE(rudylaw @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 04:24 PM) does any one still hate the fact that Masset made the team? Lets see how he's doing after more than 1 appearance...he was due to actually get someone out after being a BP pitcher all of March.
  3. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 03:35 PM) See how good Masset is. He's comes in get's the out and hurt's their best player.
  4. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 03:33 PM) I believe this will be the worst white sox team in club history. I dont know about this, but it's not a very good team. At best, this is a .500 ballclub in my view. Only Kenny Williams and Ozzie think this is a 95+ win club with World Series potential.
  5. Hey, can't we rain this game out and it just be washed out?????
  6. Good call. Just get out of it without any more damage and we'll be fine.
  7. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 02:56 PM) Thats what those Cleveland fans get for booing Thome. How do you boo Thome. He's wearing White Sox colors?
  8. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 02:41 PM) 40 HRs in that cavern of a stadium? I don't know about that part. I agree it's a monster of a stadium, but with health he will challenge. He's still a young player, is learning and getting better...also, he's tough to pitch around in that lineup. Who protected him in Miami? Mike Jacobs? While your point is well taken, I'll put Miggy up there for 40. On edit...Royals have Tigresses on the ropes now. I'd love to see KC win this.
  9. I honestly believe M-Cab will hit .320+, 40 homers, and 120+ rbis this year...his OPS, OBP and SLUGGING will be equally as obscene and he will finish among the league leaders in MVP this year. He is a dynamic talent and being out of baseball Siberia will help him. He would have looked good at third base in CHicago, but we just didn't have enough to get him I guess...for all KW's faults, he did try to get this guy. Oh well...
  10. Wasserman has done everything he could to make the team. Masset stinks...he doesn't belong on our opening day roster, he hasn't earned CRAP. The Sox are doling out lineup and roster decisions based on options/salaries/god knows what....it's a joke.
  11. QUOTE(JohnCangelosi @ Mar 20, 2008 -> 01:58 PM) No offense to any of you guys in this forum as I think you are great and your knowledge of baseball is really fun to read. But who here runs a corporation with INVESTORS involved??? I happen to be an investor in many businesses and also run a few corporations myself. One thing you guys are missing is that when you have INVESTORS in your business, you need to report to them consistently on what you are doing in order to make a profit. JR doesn't outright own this team, even though he has a majority stake. JR is probably the most misunderstood owner in sports and I have no problem with him running a business to make money, especially when he has to report to investors and let them know he is actually managing their investment with care! You guys make it seem like its evil that a company makes profits. Kinda like the BS Hillary or Obama are spouting out these days. JR is not interested in making tons of money with the White Sox and he wants to win. He has brought 7 championships to Chicago and people still cannot criticize him quick enough. Just my .02 What poster is this in response to? It seemed every post in response to the thread in response to the original was right along your lines of thinking for the most part. Most said they didn't mind JR being smart with his money, didn't mind him making a profit, and credited him for not taking advantage of the fans like those owners in KC and Minnesota did. If it is your wish to engage in a debate/discussion about the morality of the corporate profit motive that is one thing, but this thread didn't seem to be calling out for such a discussion. And I have to laugh my ass off about the Obama/Hillary comment. Are you stuck in 1967? The mainstream Democratic Party has absolutely no problems with corporate profits. The life-blood of the Democratic Party is the same that fuels the Republican Party, and that IS corporate power...Anyone who believes the Democrats are about some sort of quasi-revolutionary agenda to overthrow corporate power and hand the means of ownership over to the workers is absolutely delusional and clueless and has listened to way too many Mike Savage monlogues.
  12. Jerry Owens is not a major league starting OF...he's a part-timer, platoon guy.
  13. LMAO at RotoWorld. Gavin Floyd surrendered five runs -- four earned -- in four innings Sunday in a no-decision versus the Diamondbacks. The White Sox have been raving about Floyd, and it's easy to see why, given his sparkling 6.55 ERA and 6/5 K/BB ratio in 11 innings. Plus, he only threw two wild pitches today. Is it any wonder he's been promised a rotation spot?
  14. Would love Reg on the team, but I don't see the fit right now.
  15. If Garland was a hockey player he'd be "Garly"
  16. In other news, water is wet. If the Sox tank this year, we'll have a brand new farm system next year at this time, book it. That's why I am at peace with what KW has done. He dumped all the prospects for another gung-ho go at the gold. If the team wins this year then it will have been worth it...if the team just misses, we may try again next year with some minor tinkering...if the team flames, we'll see the team totally revamped, that is why I am OK with the mad scientist KW right now. If EVERYTHING breaks right we can make post-season this year. Had we 'rebuilt' last year we couldn't say that. So lets give it a go...and if crap falls apart we'll be doing next year what many wanted to do this year. Our minor leagues can be rebuilt via trades within a year or two.
  17. I thought Jason Burgeous played 2nd. He's been playing CF this spring and is ripping the cover off the ball. Any chance JB gets a spot on the team if he keeps this up? And if so, would they consider him back at 2nd?
  18. QUOTE(striker62704 @ Mar 2, 2008 -> 01:30 PM) Lets see him do it in the minors first. You don't think he could win a job with a great spring?
  19. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Feb 22, 2008 -> 03:17 PM) Ozzie on Mike North: He would love to have Owens in CF and Swisher in LF. But is looking to start Quentin against CC on opening day. So this pretty much means his BS about OBP was a smokescreen and that a platoon that favors Owens as the start will be put in place. This is the only team in baseball where the 4th OF type is the starter and the high OBP projectable is the 4th OF. Thank god we love our speedster bantam weights that will cruise in with the sub .320 OBP. Woo hoo Pods Jr. He was stating that Uribe played a lot of second base and should try to play there everyday. This means that Snacks and Cakes will be back in the starter role swinging for the fence on every pitch. Again dumb. He is going to have a closed door with Uribe today. Oh and the best. If Crede plays well he will be the starter. Fields will be moved (down to AAA). He states that its not fair, but he has to do what he thinks is the best for the team. He will talk to Fields and Crede individually today about the situation. He stated again that Floyd and Javy are throwing the best so far. If Fields and Richar are both in AAA I will be livid. I've been away from the Soxchat during the Winter, but Southside just showed me what I've been missing. That is the GREATEST NICKNAME I HAVE EVER HEARD for a guy...i am laughing my ass off so hard I have tears in my eyes.
  20. QUOTE(SEALgep @ Mar 2, 2008 -> 12:29 PM) Kind of like a Tori Hunter mold. With our team's makeup and outfield depth, even this probably wouldn't make him a starter. In 06 and 07 it would have awesome. Now with our leadoff needs, it seems he's destined to be a 5th outfielder for us, or trade bait. Agree. He is a victim of numbers here. Also, players like Burgeious and Ramirez are/can/may play the OF as well. We have tons of decent OFs, but with no really good CF (not sure how Swish will be there, but if anyone can make it work he can). And I still don't like the idea of Swisher being the leadoff hitter, although I suppose his OPB is what the Sox are looking for there, but still.
  21. Id kill for BA to actually develop into a .270+ hitter with 20 homers, 10-20 sbs...with his defense he'd be killer just by being an average hitter.
