  1. I'm aghast that this was even rumored. I know KW is forgiving and likes to give guys second chances, but Sheffield is the Terrell Owens of baseball. No phawking way should he be allowed to even get near the Sox clubhouse.
  2. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Nov 3, 2006 -> 10:25 AM) Wells would be the only player I would be willing to trade McCarthy for. McCarthy is way overrated, we could get good product for him. Trade him now, while he still has value.
  3. I would trade ANYONE on the Sox roster for Ichiro. I'd give every prospect up, Ichiro is a god among men. He has hit .330 and has a .376 OBP for his career. That's insane! But I don't think we'll get him. Unfortunately, Ozzie likes the Juan Pierre kool-aid ever since his stint at Florida as a coach.
  4. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 29, 2006 -> 02:00 PM) SWEET! Trade a guy that was MVP talks for most of the year for a bullpen arm??? Enjoy the circus 6 years ago, deal. I dont want old man Griffy any where near my OF. Why do you so interested with 37+ year old players? Bonds, Redman, Moyer,Griff(36) He absolutely sucked in the second half. Our high output offense sputtered in the last 2 months of the season, and I put much of the blame on his "swing for the fences, no matter what" mentality. I agree with Ozzie's philosophy of wanting speed at the top and bottom of the order. Problem is our speed guys hardly got on base. And whoever is drinking the Pierre kool-aid, I hope you choke on it. This guy is awful defensively and barely cuts the mustard on offense. His career OBP is a measly .350. He's almost guaranteed to ground to shortstop almost every time. Let the Cubs keep him. I believe we should try Sweeney. I doubt very much he will be as bad as Anderson turned out.
  5. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 02:13 PM) I try to keep that in mind as i stew over what might have been this year. One thing's for sure though, all that talk about the eaqsy life in a weak AL Central had sure better be dried up now. And speaking of. . . A cannot bear the thought of the Twins getting anywhere when it shoulda been us, so GO OAKLAND!! Detroit, on the other hand, I don't mind the thought of them going deep into October nearly as much. And now, on throough October and into the Winter of My Discontent. It will hurt a whole lot if the Twins do win it all. I still believe the team is solid and we just need a better leadoff hitter and a dag gummed bullpen. We address that and we will DEFINITELY get in the dance next season. I do agree that it was excruciating to watch a talented team slowly die day by day. We need gamers on this team, instead of guys collecting paychecks...........
  6. I'm surprised no one's mentioned our All-Star bullpen arms. Oh, right! We ain't got none! The Bullpen killed any slim chance this team had at the post-season. We need proven arms that will get outs, instead of these "hold your breath till the inning's over" pitchers who serve nothin' but cheese to opposing hitters. A BIG PHAWK U to Neal Cotts, for good measure.........
  7. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 30, 2006 -> 01:07 PM) Gload for Konerko? No, that wouldn't have made a difference. But, by September, I think everybody except our manager could tell that there were at least two better options sitting on the bench in favor of our left-fielder. One of Ozzie's many failures this year was not cutting bait with Podsednik sooner. The guy in position to get the most ABs on our team was also, without a doubt, our WORST hitter in the second half, putting up a worse-than-dismal .242/.298/.300 batting line. It really makes me angry, too. What did Pods do to deserve the spot to start against righties this year? He had one hot streak, more or less, that "earned" him the spot, which came in May. His next highest OBP month was .330. That also includes two months where his OBP was in the .280s. I think I can safely say that Podsednik was our worst starting player this year. He provided absolutely nothing to the 2006 Sox, and probably even held them back. No one held back this offense more than Jim Thome. We lost a high percentage of games against lefties because of this very fact.
  8. QUOTE(BamaDoc @ Sep 27, 2006 -> 06:47 PM) How many of our players had below average years and how many had above or career years. Dye and Pablo may be the only career year players. If the players revert to their norm where would we be? A normal Buehrle year and we are right in it this year. I am begining to think that I am crazy but several of our players who had bad years that everyone talks of trading for good prospects may in reality have little value. Do you keep Pods and bring in competition or a platoon partner using the logic that he can't possibly suck this bad next year? Uribe and the team in general need to be reached/taught/worked on going with the pitch. If you think our players revert to normal, then you may only need a tweak to the lineup. I still am enamored with Ichiro in right( moving Dye to left). Ichiro is in the last year of contract and thus may not require as much. I am not in a total rebuild mode. We are still a talented team providing we don't have significant pitcher injuries of which we are unaware. I would crap a diamond turd if Ichiro came to the Sox. He has been my favorite baseball player over the last 5 years. He is all guts, and is the exemplary ballplayer at the plate. I'd take him over ANYONE else. He will get his 220 hits every year. That's practically guaranteed. I'd give two of our starters for him. He's that good!
  9. QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ Sep 25, 2006 -> 09:45 PM) Your 100% correct. All the teams play the same number of games, it boils down to intensity and this team didn't have the intensity to win like the 2005 team did. Aaron Rowand would never have allowed these Zombies in his clubhouse. Paul Konerko, with his " Tip you hat to the other guys" routine makes me sick. You should be pissed, breaking chairs and TV's. But what's he gotta worry about? He's gonna chill at home collecting his 12 mil per year.......Grow some cojones, Konerko!
  10. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 11:37 PM) His numbers have been proving that for awhile now. He should have hit much better than he is since then. Why would you trade 290 40 100 for bullpen arms? Because the Sox have NO bullpen, smart guy. Thome will be the ball 'n chain of this baseball team if he remains here. Get rid of him, now. We need to design our baseball team to compete against Minnesota, Cleveland, and Detroit. Thome is an automatic out batting against lefties.
  11. The Tigers and Twins won it? gimme a phawking break. How in the world does a team with such talent crap out a sub .500 second half of the season, by over 10 games ( 30-40, I think). This falls on the GM, manager, and coaching staff. If people are burned out that's what the farm system is for. Cheeses phawking cripes, New York lost Matsui, Sheffield, and a couple of their pitchers, for a good part of the year, and Minnesota lost their BEST pitcher. They didn't fold. We had NO SIGNIFICANT injuries to speak of, and yet we could not muster a .500 second half? WHAT THE PHAWK!!!!!!!!!!! Had they just played .500 ball, we would still be in a virtual tie for the wild card. This is horsesh*t, and Sox fans should not stand for it. Problem is, the Sox have no depth. Someone goes down, and it's over. Did Contreras win a game after the All-Star break? Ozzie lost the season, plain and simple. He left to play guys that did not produce for too long. It pains me to say that cause I've been a huge Ozzie supporter, but a team with the caliber of players that we have, to play uninspired, crappy baseball? That's unforgivable. Thome was great the first half, but we clearly saw that he hampered this team with his penchant for the strikeout. Thome and the pitching staff lost the season, period. We need players with guts, gamers. Get rid of Thome, Crede, Buerhle, Cotts, and Contreras, yes Contreras, while their stock is still high. We can construct a championship caliber team for years with what we would get for those players. And Konerko.....shove that "Tip your cap to those guys" horsecrap right up your ass. YOU are the LEADER of this phawking disaster and you need to teach your teammates to play each game as if it's the last game they will ever play. This team showed nothing. You need to get pissed and break some chairs and televisions in that clubhouse, if need be to get the message across. Now get the dead weight out of my blessed city and team and put in players who WANT to play. Goodbye to Cotts, Podsednik, Uribe, Garcia, and Buerhle, and hopefully Thome, Contreras also. Don't phawking come back. See ya next year, boys and girls.
  12. Nice win, but too little too late, I'm afraid. The Twins are 4.5 ahead with 12 to play. The Sox would have to play practically perfect or one of the two ahead would have to totally fall apart. It would be nice to see that last series in Minnesota mean something, even if we don't get it done.
  13. There ain't much to add to this team. Two new starters, a SS, and a left fielder, or put Dye in the DH and get another outfielder. Don't get me wrong, I like Jim Thome, but he is a primary reason why this team became one-dimensional on offense. He is worth a lot now. Dump him and get something good in return. We may need to retool the bullpen arms, as well. I like the two kids Sweeney and Fields. We should give at least one of them a shot. If Crede re-signs cheap we should keep him. If he asks for Ft. Knox then we should trade him also. Crede can bring top talent.
  14. All right, people. I've had enough tonite. I'd rather go to sleep without watching the last out, and I'll read about it in the morning. See ya tomorrow, maybe not.
