  1. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 12:49 PM) LMAO! Sounds like their club house an interesting place to be. that is a great quote!
  2. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 10:14 PM) Recently, I've been browsing through various sites projecting draft selections and had to laugh once I came upon a familiar name -- Josh Fields. The third one. According to Scout.com, he's listed as their 22nd overall selection. I don't believe there's any doubt where I stand. Focus in the first several rounds should focus on pitching. This upcoming draft is heavy with left handed starters, and it's certainly possible to select a projectable starter; even at #25. What'd I like to see, in addition to an obvious preference for power arms, is the willingness of our ballclub to sign pitchers who drop due to signability issues. Boston seems to have mastered this concept within recent years. And much to our advantage, clubs you'd typically figure as willing to spend whatever is necessary -- Anaheim, New York (both), Boston select behind us. We absolutely have to take advantage of this. I don't care if whomever is a Boras client either. Enough of that petty crap. We have to get him... 3 Josh Fields would be awesome! Imagine if they all made it to the bigs with the White Sox at some point..
  3. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 10:01 PM) God I f***ing love this, but that's more because I'm a big Javier Vazquez fan and one of his rare backers. make that two of us... good post!
  4. I got it for the ps3, and I am a big fan of it. The graphics are amazing. And they have the guy who made MVP into one of the greatest games ever doing the same to mlb 2k7. My only problem with it really is the hitting and the throwing while fielding. I really wish they would imply the same technology they used in MVP NCAA with the right analog stick into 2k7. MVP's hitting is by far the best of any baseball game. With the ps3 you hit with the sixaxis controller, but it has a few kinks that need to be worked out. I give the game a 7 out of 10, much better then last years, but yet so far away from MVP's greatness.
  5. I highly suggest to get mlb.tv for all the people who can't watch the games no because of this... In fact, I think mlb.tv is better. My dad gets mlb.tv and lets me use it, and I love it. This year they have added a bunch of new great features for users. The video quality will be up to 700k, and they will have a new and improved mosaic where you can watch any 6 games you want (that aren't blacked out of course).
  6. EDIT: AL ONLY... 1) The White Sox have the 4th highest cumulative win total since 2000 at 617. Can you name the top three in order? Yankees, Angels, Red Sox... ? 2) Seven teams have over 600 victories. Can you name all seven? White Sox, Yankees, Red Sox, Twins, Mariners, Athletics, Angels 3) Two teams have an over 50 game disparity between their lowest win total and highest win total. Name them. Royals, Tigers 4) What team has the lowest variance in terms of disparity between lowest and highest win total at 13 games? Yankees 5) Which 4 teams have won less than 500 games in the 7 seasons dating back to 2000? Royals, Rangers, Tigers, Devil Rays QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 09:37 PM) 1. Cardinals, Yankees, Braves (if not them than I'm guessing Angels). 2. Cards, Yanks, Braves, White Sox, Red Sox, Angels, A's 3. Detroit Tigers, Florida Marlins 4. White Sox 5. Tampa, Detroit, Kansas City, Colorado you gotta fix that.. AL only!
  7. Well, this might be a little too early, but I felt like posting my standings predictions for 2007, and would love it if the rest of you would to. Here are mine... AL EAST: Yankees Blue Jays Red Sox Orioles Devil Rays AL CENTRAL: White Sox Twins Indians Tigers (I personally feel 06 was a fluke) Royals AL WEST: Rangers Angels Athletics Mariners AL WILDCARD Twins Blue Jays Angels Red Sox Indians NL EAST: Mets Braves Phillies Marlins Nationals NL CENTRAL: Brewers Cardinals Astros Cubs Pirates Reds NL WEST: Rockies (my surprise team of 07 btw) Dodgers Padres Diamondbacks Giants NL WILDCARD: Braves Phillies Cardinals Dodgers Astros
  8. I know it isn't like the NFL or NBA draft where we know of most of the prospects and they go straight to the pros most likely, and there are 50 rounds in the MLB Draft, but it is still fun to talk about. So, what are some of the needs the Sox need in the draft? Well, you can never have too much pitching. C and middle infield are also thin and should be addressed early. I really think our first round pick should be someone with speed and the potential to be a future leadoff hitter. The White Sox haven't had a franchise leadoff hitter since Ray Durham, and he wasn't that good. Whether it be someone in the OF, SS, 2B, someone would be needed. Any thoughts?
  9. I really like this deal and I think Vazquez is bound for a breakout year...
  10. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Sep 24, 2006 -> 11:47 AM) Except that it's over. What are you talking about? The Sox still have a chance. Just look at the standings.
  11. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Sep 24, 2006 -> 11:44 AM) The fuse is lit!!! LMAO
  12. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Sep 24, 2006 -> 11:16 AM) I think this game is on WGN today so I'll be watching. See you on the television Yes it is, so that means Hi-Def for me! I hate comcast how they won't show HiDef for directv. Bears in HiDef, Sox in HiDef, this is hopefully going to be a good day.
  13. Ozuna, LF; Iguchi, 2B; Dye, RF; Thome, DH; PK, 1B; Crede, 3B; AJ, C; Uribe, SS; BA, CF. Garcia pitching. from the soxpride blog...
  14. Time to win game 2 of our 8 game miracle streak Lets hope the Royals continue to play spoiler, and that the Sox build from last afternoon's win. Go Sox!
  15. Oh boy, ESPN just really pissed off. They just said we were eliminated. Didn't even say how we still have that slim chance. And you know what, Yogi Berra said it the best, it is not over until it is over. Guess what, it ain't over. Anything can happen. For gods sake, this is baseball. Anything can happen in baseball.
  16. When the Sox win the final game vs. the twins against Santana and clinch the wildcard One guy can hope
  17. QUOTE(Drew @ Sep 23, 2006 -> 09:27 PM) Or English. e-s-q-u-e. A suffix meaning 'like' or 'reminiscent of,' in effect turning a noun into a simile. There is nothing of being reminiscent of a homer, this remark is straight-up homer. A better thread title would be "I know I'm a homer, but..." Hey buddy, this isn't english 101. This is sox chatter, and I am posting my thoughts about the Sox. No reason to be a dick.
  18. QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Sep 23, 2006 -> 08:41 PM) Yeah, its not like Luis Gonzalez has ever had a 9th-inning hit to win a game 7 of the World Series, or anything like that. stop living in the past...
  19. Chances of Michael Young and Carl Crawford being on different teams next year, not very good.
  20. QUOTE(TheOcho @ Sep 23, 2006 -> 08:17 PM) You love your sox yet you b**** at every single player on the team, guess who makes up the sox ... Ozzie, Cora, Thome, Uribe, Podsednik, Pierzynski, Buehrle, Garcia, Anderson. Sure it's hard to see the team struggle but the way you keep switching from ! to ROAR is very, well ... I need to stop before I get yelled at. Hey, I was pissed off yesterday, and the day before, and so on at the Sox. But still, after every single one of those losses, I was still kinda hoping, in the back of my head, that we could still do it. Yeah, I know we will most certainly not make the playoffs. I know all of that. But guess what, I am a Sox fan. And not one sox fan can tell me you were not pissed at this team for at least the past month. But then again, no matter how bad the sox were playing, no true fan would ever give up all hope.
  21. QUOTE(TheOcho @ Sep 23, 2006 -> 08:04 PM) You need help. I need help for being a die-hard Sox fan? wow...
  22. QUOTE(beautox @ Sep 23, 2006 -> 07:49 PM) I was at the game, my man love for Haeger only grows. I man love him more.
  23. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 23, 2006 -> 06:54 PM) You sound a bit bi-polar, eh? Hey, this team pisses me off a lot, but at the end of the day, I still love my White Sox.
  24. QUOTE(SinkingShip06 @ Sep 23, 2006 -> 06:42 PM) you dont' sound like a homer. you sound like someone who knows nothing about sports. wow, tough crowd tonight.
  25. QUOTE(wcw2323 @ Sep 23, 2006 -> 06:31 PM) Congratulations to Charlie for his first ML win today! He retired 10 straight batters and had 5K's and 0 BB's. This is the type of performance he is capable of providing. I think Charlie certainly enhanced his chances of making the club next year. The same role that McCarthy had this year...to transition from AAA to the show and provide insurance as a back up starter in case anybody goes down with an injury. Great job today Charlie! Very impressive! He couldn't have asked for better conditions to pitch in. Lots of hummidity.
