  1. Everybody blames the last crappy thing for a loss, in this case Santiago. There was plenty o' crap to spread around.
  2. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 10:29 PM) Because Dunn has the day off, and Konerko is DHing? He started? Didn't see lineup. Sorry.
  3. Seems nobody saw my question at bottom of last page. Why was Lilli playing 1b?
  4. Just tuned in... I must be the curse. Sorry. Really, though, why's Lilli at 1st?
  5. DeAza has potential to improve in CF and is hitting well just as things are. Rios stunk up CF last year and is playing RF well when he stays awake this year, with the added benefit of being better at the plate. Rios has no future other than finishing a contract, so minimize the damage with him and see what DeAza can do in an extended run in CF and leading off. I'd like to think the White Sox are playing for this year. Sadly, it's really about living 2013 with a bit of excitement as we then look to 2014 void of albatross contracts.
  6. I'll do it briefly. Cowley's agenda: 1. Cowley. 2. Destroy KW. 3. Ride in Ozzie's jetstream. 4. Discredit Tribune. For proof, read his columns and tweets. I note, though, that, despite the agenda, he is still often correct and does get info before others.
  7. QUOTE (daa84 @ Feb 28, 2012 -> 12:49 PM) http://awfulannouncing.blogspot.com/2008/0...gan-trivia.html Hysterical in its awfulness. Thank you.
  8. Ozzie has been indisputedy proven a liar. For a long time, I was torn and supported Ozzie. Then his own, accidentally and prematurely released, announcement of his acceptance of the Miami job sealed it. After that, any doubts in my mind about his priorities being, first, money, and, second, using the Sox to make KW look bad were cast aside. Once those doubts were gone, using the retrospectoscope to review the season made Ozzie's line-up decisions easy to comprehend.
  9. The season will be much more enjoyable for me just having MB there. I like winning, so that also makes me happy. I just don't think he'll cost the Sox wins that they'd get some other way, so it'd "only" cost money. It's not my money, so I really hope that he stays.
  10. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 6, 2011 -> 03:54 PM) I find it interesting that so many people are quick to point out that there's really not that much to managing a Major League Baseball game. I find it interesting how trivial so many think it to be, yet the manager is in charge of over 100 million dollars of contracts. I find it interesting how many people think having a manager is extremely unimportant, and that anyone could do the job. I find all of that very interesting. In this post, feel free to substitute the word "interesting" with the word "stupid". Without even going into whether I agree or not, this is a tremendously well done post.
  11. Yow. I was as surprised as anybody and disappointed that one of the commonly mentioned choices wasn't choses. Came to read other thoughts and am overwhelmed by the anger. Come on! It is not worth this level of angst. There's no question he does know the game. It's reasonable to be skeptical and to wonder what happened to the other candidates, but this is a board for White Sox fans. The hatred and assumption that he'll fail is neither warranted nor useful.
  12. What a day. Surprised- timing 2d before end of season. Resigned- a change was needed though I like Ozzie and the disaster of 2011 falls on 3+ players mostly, not Ozzie. Emotionally crushed- watching his last press conference. Just empty- watching KW look sad and scared and tired. Proud- of PK. Fearful- that MB is done here after tomorrow. Angry- that Cowley gets info correct, but he's such a meanspirited jerk. Disappointed- that Ozzie couldn't hold back on blogging his excitement about Miami. Unfortunately & unexpectedly not hopeful- for the White Sox future. Fatigued- over all of the above. Going to bed. G'night all.
  13. QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 02:49 PM) The scaphoid doesn't really heal faster, it's just that who have to be more careful with the immobilization. The scaphoid is shaped like a peanut and fractures usually occur in the middle, thinner part. The bone is really important to the wrist motion so you have to immobilize it longer to make sure you don't lose range of motion, this would be terrible for a ballplayer. This usually occurs in more obvious fractures, however it can occur in harder to detect ones. You misread. I include "scaphoid" after "others," as in the ones that sometimes don't heal as well, so require more careful observation & follow-up. That being said, what you say is true. And not to get pissy here, well, ok, to get pissy, the scariest problem with scaphoid fractures is with nonunion and avascular necrosis. The blood supply is mostly from the far to the near end and a fracure in the middle can disrupt the blood supply to the near end. When this happens the fracture can fail to heal and the fracture fragment at the near end can die. Whether we love or hate AJP, we'd like for this to not happen to him.
  14. Has anyone published which bone? Some fractures (triquetral) heal more quickly with less risk than others (scaphoid/navicular).
  15. 2 catchers out with broken hand/wrist from pitches thrown by Buehrle & Chen. What are the odds of those both happening?
  16. Thanks for this topic. Appreciate the differing view and the positivity. It was shot at less than I expected when I started reading the thread.
  17. Come on, stop dumping on him for the moment. He has hit well. Yes, it's only a couple games, but it's time to lighten up. And is there anything, terrible to wonderful, that some won't use to say that Ozzie is terrible & should be fired and/or the same for Walker.
  18. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 04:37 PM) Morel has gotten more of a pass because he's a rookie, he's good defensively, he's worked his ass off, and because he's not getting paid 8 digits a year. Simple, no? It is just that simple. It's what we all knew going into the season. It's just an issue because of other general suckiness on offense.
  19. I don't want a young guy to be exposed to this mess of a team. It can lead to nothing good. Charlotte 'till '12.
  20. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 09:09 PM) Man this game just drones on ... and on... and on...
  21. Hawk! Shut up about the 4th out! Yes, it could/should have bee turned, but he's fast! It was Floyd's batting practice pitching that gave up the 6 runs! And, oh yes, the home run given up to a nobody hitter.
  22. So, the Sox will end the game with 5 runs. The Twins, well, how many?
