Espn Radio reports Alomar is traded to Sox
Winning Ugly replied to suffering-nomore-sox fan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Rios is good as gone with Rowand and Harris splitting time at CF. By the way, how many years left on Alomar's contract? -
BULLs***! IF THE REPORTS ARE CORRECT AND WE GAVE UP RING TO GET HIM, I AM THOROUGHLY PISSED. I COULD CARE LESS ABOUT ALMONTE, BUT RING ALSO???? f*** NO!!!
-
Yes he added a "cut fastball" they have stated numerous times this season...
-
Well props to Konerko. He was AWESOME! He made no excuses, and stated "hey I'm going to sit on the bench while this team is clicking...and if they need me to come off the bench and pinth hit so be it....that's what I will do. Bottom line is this team is winning without me in the starting lineup because of my struggles, and that's what it's about...the team." Not verbatim, but close. KEEP YOUR HEAD UP, PAULY!!!!

ROMEY RIPPING ON BAKER!!! I'm starting to like him a bit more. Apparently, and I haven't heard or seen this, but Baker was pissed with Manual for "pumping his fists after Jimenez got the GW hit in the 9th on Saturday." Baker was quoted as saying "He's my homie, and homie's don't show each other up like that..." then went on to use the word "Homie" referring to Manual abouit a dozen times. Manual was perterbed at this, especially when Baker and he spoke about it. Manual claims to have been trying to fire up the crowd after beating our cross-town rivals. Romey - "The man (Manual) is fighting for his job and has been all year. Of course he's going to do what he has to to get HIS crowd pumped after a win like that. It's not like he was beating you 20-1 and a runner tagged up from third base in late innings (Todd Walker)." "Why is it always about you, Dusty?" GOOD STUFF!!!
-
I was just about to change it as I always do after Tony Bruno when Romey comes on, but he mentioned he will be interviewing Pauly, so I guess I'll listen. It will be kinda interesting to hear what Pauly has to say about his struggles...

Amen! And let's kill this thread while we're at it...

Sheffield and Tejada are 1-2 on their hitlist. The only reason Tejada's not first is because they are still looking to see if Vazquez is their SS of the future, and he should be off the DL soon where they can make a better determination. If Vazquez doesn't produce the second half, I think we are safe. If he does, then perhaps they would leave Tejada alone and pursue Maggs, but then again they can move Vazquez to 2B...
-
...except for Rios at DH, which should be Daubs, this lineup with HArris at 2B, Rowand in CF batting 1-2 respectively should be left alone for a while. These two have found a bit of a groove and both look EXTREMELY comfortable lately at the plate. DJ's a better hitter from the right side, and since Val is so poor from the right, then start Jimenez at SS against lefties? We saw even with some blunders at 3B over the weekend he does have good range still.
-
I don't buy it, and I haven't heard anything on any Padres report shows I occassionally watch from time to time. Sheffield would come long before Maggs, and then I don't think they could afford him if they got Sheff first.
-
Of course, if it's between DJ and Miles as to who we have to give up to get Alomar, we'd have to say goodbye to DJ due to Miles having more of an upside for the future.
-
All of you guys giving up on DJ already, fine. I guarantee you we will regret letting him go if he's involved in a trade for Alomar, etc. His mistakes on the field and on the basepaths are correctable, unlike Valentin where it persists for years. I liked what I saw from him in his SD days, and I know what I heard from friends and friends of friends that actually work or know people who work with the Padres organization and have witnessed the harrassment he received from Klesko and Nevin on a daily basis. Maybe he's still p1ssed about that and refuses to let it happen again, thus not thinking clearly, or the Klesko statements are affecting his game. Did you notice when his "downfall" started occurring? Right after the Padres series... If we get Alomar, cool....just can't give up on Jimenez immediately after that. He can still do much better then Graffy in a utility role the rest of the year, and in a few more years who knows?

Harris again.

Sure he can, but with the Blue Jays still in the hunt, I doubt they trade anybody before the deadline.

http://www.syracuse.com/sports/poststandar...89379308464.xml "I'll tell you what, that kid's a player," Charlotte manager Nick Capra said. "He comes to the ballpark ready to play every night, and I wish I had more of him." Miles batted .474 (9-for-19) in the four-game series with three doubles, one triple and six RBIs, including five Friday. Recently selected to represent the International League in the Triple-A All-Star Game next month, Miles is among the IL leaders in hits (90) and batting average (.319).

f***ing s*** we need to get to Wood now. Alou with a bomb!
-
THE E-LO K-TRACKER LIVES!!! I WANT TO SEE HIM WITH MORE KS THEN WOOD TODAY. 2-1 AND A POP-UP GETS THE AL ALL-STAR STARTER OUT OF IT. E-LO RULES!!!
-
I agree also. Olivo is a given to catch E-Lo. Jimenez played well in the 2 innings at 2B and we found he DOES have decent enough range. Let Crede rest. Harris at 2B is a good call also with him leading off and Rowand second again, in hopes he can get something going after yesterday.
-
-------Ugly raises his hand--------- Well not Cy Young, but if you ask Southsider he'll tell you how excited I was and the high hopes I had when we first signed him. I even predicted 14 wins, and everyone on espn thought I was nuts. Gordon's prediction has stood for me also, except for him taking away the closers role from Koch, which could still happen. And when Jimenez turns it around (today being a starting point), I'll take credit for him also, from watching him here in SD for 3 years. Only bad prediction I made was Rios being a great addition and the everyday CF.

T-Shirt of the Day: "Sosa Sucks Cork!" LMAO! You see that when Maggs took second on the flyout to Sosa?
-
If the offense doesn't get going, I don't know how long the starters can keep it up quite frankly.
-
No. It should be Marte. 2 innings is max for Gordon...
