Myself, southsider, arneharris, sox4lifeinpa and others from the espn Sox board last year called an 800 numbers for a conference call with the Florida Marlins. It was when they traded Dempster to the Reds and Cliff Floyd/Wilton Guererro to the Expos for Pavano, Encarnacion, Lloyd and other minor pick-ups. We got the number to the call on the ESPN newswire link. It was supposed to be for Editors only (Press folks) but we noticed it and got through. So imagine about 10 idiots messing around on a professional MLB business call. The Public Relations person for the MArlins who was directing the call asked who was on the line, taking roll. They blurted out their names, and in between I said, "Ugly Here." One press guy repeated what I said and started laughing, having no idea what was going on. The PR guy then went on to describe the deals and the players involved, then turned it over to Jeff Torborg to answer some questions. All throughout the call, chants of "Kenny Williams sucks" could be heard, as well as Nelson from The Simpsons and his famous, "Ha-Ha!" as only Nelson can say. That was courtesy of Sox4Life. There was also some momo that blurted out "Loria is the Angel of Death. Free Eurabiel Durazo!" What he meant about Durazo still is a mystery to me. The best moment on this call (keep in mind I'm at work laughing hysterically and my peers were thinking I was BS'ing with a customer) was a poster names BeerHere from the Cubs board. He acted like a Press person and asked Torborg, "Yeah, Jeff....do you feel like you were hosed more in this trade then the one with the Cubs?" He was of course referring to the Clement/Alfonseca for Julian Tavarez/Dontrelle Willis deal made before the season started. We all remained silent laughing to ourselves, and the PR guy stated, "ok can we please keep the questions on a professional level here?" Then when Torborg was answering another question, he finally picked up what was going on and stated in mid-sentence, "....and I don't know who's all on this call..." When the call disbanded and Torborg and the PR folks hung up, we chatted and joked amongst ourselves and that's that. It was an unusually funny day.

I didn't see Sportcenter last night, but this was interesting in the Box Score from the Tigers/Dodgers game: CS: O Infante (3, 2nd base by K Ishii/P Lo Duca); A Sanchez (2, 2nd base by K Ishii/P Lo Duca3rd base by K Ishii/P Lo Duca); E Young (1, 2nd base by K Ishii/P Lo Duca3rd base by K Ishii/P Lo Duca2nd base by K Ishii); B Inge (4, 2nd base by K Ishii/P Lo Duca3rd base by K Ishii/P Lo Duca2nd base by K Ishii2nd base by K Ishii) 4 guys caught stealing or in rundowns? Is that a record?
-
Yes just because you re-enlist doesn't mean they are automatically move you up in rank. You have to earn it. And if you don't advance as fast as I did and you're only a Corporal after 4 years, you go to another unit and then do a B Billet then next time you re-enlist when you make Seargent. And yes you can choose which one you want to do.
-
When you get promoted to E-5 or Seargent as quickly as I did, if you want to re-enlist you have to do what's called a "B Billet" That means 3 years of either Recruiting Duty, Drill Instructor Duty, or Marine Security Guard. In other words, you could be a recruiter in Montana, a drill instructor in North Carolina (and get no sleep for three years), or a Security Guard at an Embassy in Butt f*** Egypt. You never get where you want to go.
-
A Marine, not a soldier. A soldier is in the Army. The Drill Instructors you get assigned to you will make sure you know the difference. I got promoted to Seargent on the USS Boxer enroute to Thiland, right after my 4 year contract expired and I extended it another year and a half to go on another cruise to the Pacific. Went to Hong Kong twice, Korea, Austrailia, Hawaii, Thailand, Singapore, Bali (Indonesia) and the Middle East. No combat but wanted to see some since we almost turned the ship around on our way home when Saddam was starting s*** again in 97. If my contract got extended involuntary, I would have made double what I was making with my pay plus hazardous and jump pay and had a LOT of money saved for the future.
-
I'm not anymore. I was an airborne Comm Chief from 92-97. 42 jumps before a parachuting accident took the like of a fellow Seargent and friend. 1st Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company, right across from Force Recon. You won't hear of them when you get in because both units disbanded (1st and 2nd Anglico), but you will hear stories about the legend of those units. "Lightning From The Sky, Thunder From the Sea" was our motto. We controlled Naval Gunfire, Close Air Support (from F18 Hornets, Huey Helos, etc.), Artillery fire and Mortars, all from our radios.
-
And your not nor never were a Marine either, momo. Makes the real Marines like myself get MAD!!!
-
LMAO! Is that really you, ID? Buy mah tapes!!!!! Make of this what you will, Robert Uhhh...ok? But I'm Thomas. Thanks, momo. lol

....on the Sox board. I got all 6 of my names there banned, first accidentally, then on purpose so I never have to post there again. All I did was include our infamous thread title of "MOTHERF*CKING B*TCHASS DIPs*** PASSIONLESS SOX!!!!" and those posts were gone in 30 seconds and when I attempt to post under those names now, it says "Generic Error" and will not let me post. f***ING HILLARIOUS!!! That's the funniest s*** I've done since our Marlins conference call. SOXTALK FO LIFE!

And you don't want to cause spectacles here like you did at espn in the past? Hope not. You were one hated target kid.
-
Cards have tagged Pujols as untouchable, as they should. No way would they take Mark and Crede anyways.
-
Geez dude at least if it was today like I saw last night it still was on, I would have made the last half of the draft as I am leaving work now. Now I'll miss the whole thing. Oh well. I hope you didn't upset anyone like the friends I got to join and they leave the league. What was the reason for changing the draft date and time again?
-
I just noticed something else about this league and what I can do. Maggs, Frank, Carlos, Buehrle, Garland, Crede and Olivo are all current Sox starters who have come up from within the organization, so nobody can touch them but me. Gonna be funny as hell to draft Maggs in round 25. LMAO! That tells me I now need to go for Colon, Loaiza, Sosa, Foulke, Durham, Cameron, Biddle, Charles Johnson, Lofton, Ventura, Kip and David Wells first (in that order) before their current or former team's owner's snag them.
-
Over the last 5 games, can anyone tell me what stat stands out from our starters? Wright vs. AZ - 6IP, 3H, 2ER, 1BB, 4K Buehrle vs. LA - 6IP, 4H, 2ER, 0BB, 6K Colon vs. LA - 9IP (CG), 4H, 1ER, 0BB, 5K Loaiza vs. LA - 7IP, 7H, 3ER, 0BB, 9K Garland vs. SF - 7IP, 5H, 2ER, 1BB, 7K 2 Walks total in 35 innings pitched! That's OUTSTANDING!

OMG! They actually posted my replies: http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...lice=1&limit=10 Look at the two posts from "Chaos." CUBUNE!!!! LMAO!
-
Jesus! I just saw the Tribune ask for posts of the All-Chicago team. Almost all posters selected Grudz at 2B. Well I hope they approve my reply I submitted: All you idiotic Cub fans posting on the Cubbune, Grudz at 2B instead of Jimenez? Pass the pipe!
-
Clement is back to his old self, so no way. Sosa over Thomas at DH? Val at SS over Gonzalez?
-
C Miller 1B Thomas 2B Jimenez SS Gonzalez 3B Crede LF Lee (slightly over Alou) CF Patterson RF Maggs SP Loiaza, Wood, Prior, Colon, Zambrano (until Mark gets run support) CP Borowski, RP Marte, Wunsch, Koch, Remlinger, Alfonseca

You know what's scary about last night though? It took Baltimore's security staff a whopping 10 minutes before anyone got out there to get the guy, from what I hear on my morning sports talk show. That's pathetic.
-
Yup, if we sweep the Giants, who have not been playing well at all as of late, we could be looking at an 8-game winning streak before the Boston series. E-Lo on Friday against the Pads is a given W (although B-Law has been pitching extremely well for the Pads lately and they got Kotsay back). Wright on Saturday is the only game that's a question mark, no matter how bad the Padres are, but then again he's going against the Pads worst starter in Lower. Then Garland faces the PAds second worst starter Tollberg, who got lit up by the Tribe yesterday. We just need to get to Kirk Reuter (7-1) early against Colon tomorrow and things will be ok.
-
They actually had to have at least 1 major league game played with that team under their belts, so no on El Duque. I forgot Osuna now that you mentioned that, though.
-
Well no need for Eyre, but hell I always forget Burks in a Sox uni for some reason. Maybe because I was in Okinawa that year he was with us. Isn't he hurt right now though?

Guys I am in this unique fantasy draft on Saturday morning where you pick your team and can only draft current and former players of that team (not including if they were in that organizations minor league affiliates). Here is my list of former Sox players I CAN draft (not saying I'm going to, but with 20 teams might have to take some scrubs): Sammy Sosa David Wells Kip Wells Josh Fogg Charles Johnson Keith Foulke Kenny Lofton Robin Ventura Ray Durham Mike Cameron Rocky Biddle Rueben Sierra Royce Clayton Wil Cordero Chris Singleton Jeff Liefer Cal Eldred Todd Ritchie This is mostly from the top of my head. Is there anyone I am missing? Thanks. (Moderators if you can just leave this topic here for a few hours then move it to fantasy forum I'd appreciate it)

Please stop bringing up Munoz. I lost a bet before the season that he'd make the opening day roster because I'm such a big fan. :fyou Mike! And I am still waiting Lol well if I keep up on my Blackjack tear I just might be heading home in the near future where I can treat you to a Sox game.
